Family Summative Assessment

Create a presentation in which you explain two of the family types we discussed in class.

You also have to pick 3 of the following questions / tasks and explain them explicitly in your
presentation. You can’t pick that question / task if it belongs to the description of your two
family types.

• What is the difference between horizontally and vertically extended?


• Describe the term fertility rate. And are there certain trends?
• Describe the term divorce rate.
• Describe a type of dysfunctional family in detail.
• Why do some couples have a marital breakdown and don’t get divorced?

Mark Scheme:

(This is not IB, so we can give 0.5 points.)

Part 1: Knowledge 0 – 80 points

0 Nothing
0.5 – 20 The student:
i. uses limited relevant terminology
ii. demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of content and
concepts with minimal descriptions and/or examples.
20.5 – 40 The student:
i. uses some terminology accurately and appropriately
ii. demonstrates adequate knowledge and understanding of content and
concepts through satisfactory descriptions, explanations and examples.
40.5 – 60 The student:
i. uses a range of terminology accurately and appropriately
ii. demonstrates substantial knowledge and understanding of content
and concepts through accurate descriptions, explanations and
examples.
60.5 – 80 The student:
i. consistently uses a wide range of terminology effectively
ii. demonstrates excellent knowledge and understanding of content and
concepts through thorough, accurate descriptions, explanations and
examples.
Part 2: Critical thinking 0 – 20 points
0 Nothing
0.5 – 7 The student shows nearly no critical thinking.

The student might be mostly reading a copy pasted text.


7.5 – 14 The student shows some critical thinking.
14.5 – 20 The student is mostly using his own words and thoughts.
