God in man (Sonnet)

My soul is like a thirsting deer

Awaiting the Lord’s great Advent,
In the life of every Christian, THE EVENT
But never comes He as long as I, at my fellow human beings, sneer.
Should we find God on distant hills or in the hearts of men?
Should temples be built, destroying the life of man?
Which does He favour-a long prayer or nursing a suffering man?
Should the dead saints be honoured by torturing living men?
Love men alive than worship the saints dead;
Find God in living images than in the dumb deities;
Let’s not despise the fellow beings that belong to us.
For ‘Man is the living stone of God’s temple.’ St.Peter said,
Fill the beggar’s bowl than the temple’s hundies
Then comes God to dwell in us!
