Dear Vilnius

I am writing to you this letter to admire you and to celebrate your 700th birthday with you. You
don't even know how precious you are to me and how much you mean in my life. I'm glad that in
1323 Duke Gediminas founded you. A lot of time has passed since then, but for you it was only a
moment.

Your oldtown streets have kept the most history. These streets were used by foreign merchants to
sell their wares at the town hall. They also served as inspiration for writers to write so many stories
about you. And today, I too can admire their beauty.

Your architecture is unique and unrepeatable. Gothic, baroque and classical buildings intertwine
with modern architecture. I am always delighted when I see St. Peter and St. Paul's Church or St.
Anne's Church. The Gediminas’ Tower symbolizes your power and might.

Your atmosphere is so cheerful. Already people are starting to celebrate your birthday. Concerts and
parties are planned. This year's Christmas tree on the cathedral square was dedicated to your
birthday. Christmas tree was like a huge cake with 700 candles.

I wish you to live 10 times more, to delight local people and tourists with your beauty.

Your sincerely,

I G grade student, Evelyn Shostak
