Ito ay pinamunuan ni Prof. Emely Dicolen-Abagat, Ph.D. Sa naganap na seminar, tinalakay ang kasaysayan ng migrasyon sa buong mundo lalo na ang kasaysayan ng migrasyon sa Korea. Tinalakay din ang mga kadahilalan kung bakit nangyayari ang ganito at ang mga suliranin na dulot ng migrasyon. Sa ganitong konteksto tinalakay ang uri ng pamumuno na mas makakatulong at makakatugon sa mga pangangailangan ng mga migrante sa Korea. Binigyang diin din ng tagapagsalita ang kahalagahan ng pagtatasa ng mga nakaraang mga gawain bago ang pagpaplano ng mga aktibidades, pagbuo ng mga suliranin at iba pang sangkap ng isang plano.

As the DFA and COMELEC officially begin the registration process this month, 33-year old Rico Jose Santos, a resident of Cavite, secured a place in the Philippine Embassys history when he became South Koreas first Overseas Absentee Registrant for the 2010 Presidential, Vice Presidential and Senatorial elections this month. SOYBEAN
Soybean is the main ingredient of doenjang (soybean paste) and contains various nutrients, including protein. Soybean is also high in enzymes which aids in preventing cancer and Vitamin E, which lowers cholesterol level. Soybeans can be cooked with rice, grounded into bits or flour, or made into tofu.

GANJANG
Ganjang (soy sauce) is made through the same process as soybean paste. Water and salt are added to soybeans and then fermented for two months. During the fermentation process, amino acids and lactic acids are released, which creates soy sauce. Ganjang is used in casseroles and soups. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for various fried foods.

DOENJANG
The soybean paste has been popular among Koreans for over 2,000 years. The ingredients consist of soybeans, alt and water, which are combined with natural elements such as sun and wind. Doenjang has been scientifically proven to help prevent cancer. People from all over the world come to Korea to enjoy this soybean paste. It is used in casseroles or mixed with fresh mountain herbs.

Korean sauces, which include soy sauce, soybean paste and red pepper paste, are, are enjoyed with fresh spices and condiments. Onions, garlic, scallions, ginger, sesame oil, crushed sesame salt, and powdered pepper are among the most popular spices in Korea.

PAGNINILAY:
To utter a word is very easy, to describe a person with her physical appearance is no big deal because of so many adjectives you can use. But I find it head-turning choosing the appropriate words on how I can express my gratitude to this woman. Words dont come easy, familiar with these lines? It was a popular song during my younger days. Really, words dont come easy for me. I have difficulty in saying what I want especially uttering words of praises to a person because I am afraid of being tagged as nagpapalakas or nagsisipsip (leech). Its not been so long a time when I first saw this woman, but her physique clearly registered on my mind that very first day. I was invited by a friend to attend a Lenten Recollection, she was one of the facilitators that day. Throughout the recollection day, there was this not so young woman who caught my attention. Actually, I dont know her name and that was the first time I saw her. I was introduced by my friend to her then followed by casual greetings. But at the back of my mind, I thought to myself, ah! shes the one. I already knew her by name and a lot of good things had been said about her. But you will never know the real person unless you meet and be with her. Those words spoken are really true. Gods love is untiring, He will always find a way and uses an instrument to lead us to Him and find our own path in this world. Maybe, I met this woman because she will make a difference in my life. One day during a casual talk she said something that astonished me. I told her I dont have the talent and I cant do it. But she was insistent, telling me that why dont I give it a try. Her words of encouragement I really cant resist. Her motivation moved me. And through her eyes I can see the sincerity deep inside her. And so here I am, stripping off the old self of mine and coming out boldly from the nut. I know Im not that good in this field but Im trying my

best, with her guiding me. And I want to thank her for believing in me, giving me the courage to try the things I was afraid of and helping me to boost my morale. Inspiring me that I can become somebody in this world through this little talent God has given me. She has those smiles in her face that made me feel assured. God made it all possible, with her as my link to HIM. Its no wonder why she has never run out of energy because God uses her as His instrument, to know Him better with her wisdom and talent which she unselfishly shares with us. Each of us, have our own distinct talent. One must learn to cultivate his inner self to discover what it is. Once we have come to know our part then its up to us to enhance and use them in the right way. Do what you wish to do and become what you want to become. One thing I learned in this life, we must always give thanks to all the persons who contributed to make our lives worthy and meaningful because youll never know what lies ahead in the future. So, while I still have the luxury of time I want to say thank you to you, you made me brave enough to try the road I have never been to. The moment I had with you and will have in the future will be carried by me until my last breath. Doc. Ems, what Ive written is not a product of my imagination, it comes from within. May you multiply and may you never get tired in helping others, inspiring and encouraging them like what you have done to me. I have not just seen but I experienced it. CATHOLIC FAITH:
One of the most renowned apparitions of Mary began on February 11, 1858. The Blessed Mother appeared to a girl named Bernadette Soubrious. Bernadette, a 14 year-old peasant girl and was the oldest daughter among the six children of Francois Soubrious and Louise Casterot. Her family was one of the poorest in town. Her father had no work so she had to exert extra effort for her family even though she was sickly. One day her family allowed her to collect firewood, along with her two friends. During that time, the people cooked their food and heated their house with firewood. Bernadette and her friends passed by the rock of Massabielle a rocky outcropping in a wild and isolated part of the countryside. After a little while, her friends decided to cross the river that ran near the rock. Bernadette wanted to go with them but the water was too cold and she didnt want her feet to get wet. But she didnt want to be left behind by her friends so she went to the other side and removed her shoes. All of a sudden, Bernadette heard a loud noise. And when she turned her back she caught sight of a very beautiful Lady clothed in white with a rosary hanging on her arm standing in a grotto in the rock. The beautiful Lady smiled at her and summoned her to pray the rosary and they prayed together. Bernadette told her mother what she saw. Her mother didnt believe her and prevented Bernadette to visit the place again. Bernadette obeyed her mother. When news about the incident spread, some of Bernadettes friends asked Madame Soubrious if Bernadette could go back to the grotto. This time her mother allowed her. The Lady appeared again to Bernadette and asked her to come for 15 days. The Lady appeared to her every time she was there. Many people who came with Bernadette could not see the Lady but they knew that Bernadette saw something so special and beautiful because she would look very happy. Bernadette repeated to the people what the Lady told her. She was told to tell people to pray and do penance. All must pray especially for the conversion of the sinners. The Lady wanted them to strengthen their faith in the Lord, and have a pure heart as a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. The Lady also told Bernadette to tell the priests to have a procession and to build a chapel in the place where she had appeared. The Lady of the grotto made a new spring of water and told Bernadette to drink and wash herself in it. After 18 appearances of the Lady to Bernadette, the lady finally told her that she is the Immaculate Conception. Bernadette was confused about what she heard and kept on asking herself what those words meant? But as she walked through the road going to the priests house, she kept on remembering them and repeated it to herself many times so she would remember them correctly. The village priest knew what those words meant and was very surprised after hearing Bernadette. The Lady in the grotto who appeared to Bernadette was the Blessed Virgin Mary herself. She is the Immaculate Conception because she was created in her mothers womb without original sin because she was going to be the Mother of Jesus. The little village of Lourdes had been greatly honored by the appearances of the Blessed Mother. Millions of people go to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. Because of great faith to the Blessed Mother many people of different illness were miraculously healed and testimonies of renewed faith fill many books.

O Mary Immaculate, Our Lady of Lourdes, virgin and mother, queen of heaven, chosen from all eternity to be the Mother of the Eternal Word and in virtue of this title preserved from original sin, we kneel before you as did little Bernadette at Lourdes and pray with childlike trust in you that as we contemplate your glorious appearance at Lourdes, you will look with mercy on our present petition and secure for us a favorable answer to the request for which we are making this novena. O Brilliant star of purity, Mary Immaculate, Our Lady of Lourdes, glorious in your assumption, triumphant in your coronation, show unto us the mercy of the Mother of God, Virgin Mary, Queen and Mother, be our comfort, hope, strength, and consolation. Amen. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Saint Bernadette, pray for us.

There is a rather insensitive joke told about Jesus and Peter, arising from the story in todays Gospel. One evening, it goes, they were having a chat over a drink when Jesus asked, Frankly, Peter, was there ever a time when you were angry with me? Peter hesitated and shuffled for a moment. Well, actually there was, Lord, he said. The time that you cured my mother-in-law! I say this is an insensitive joke because it trivializes what is a common and grave pain felt by many wonderful women. A mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can often be two good, sindere, kindly women and yet a high pressure of toxic feeling grows up between them. It makes life intolerable for them and often also for those around them. And yet, that this happens is not too surprising, considering the dynamics involved. To become a mother-in-law is to hand over your child especially your son to the love and care of another woman. There can be unacknowledged feeling of having been robbed of your treasure and your lifes work by this girl who now takes the center of the stage. She is younger, so you are getting older. She is lifegiving, so you are no longer fruitful. In short, she becomes a symbol of your own dying. The daughter-in-law is young and inexperienced. She is exulting in her newfound womanhood. She is a newcomer to the work of being adult, wife, mother and she wants to be the best in her own unique way. She is, as yet, insecure and sensitive to criticism. Even the most innocent remark from the old pro can be interpreted by the daughter-in-law as criticism or interference. All sorts of meanings could be read into a simple remark like, John is looking tired today. So the neophyte may find herself threatened by the old-timer who becomes a symbol of her own anxiety. The grandmother will wonder often whether she is being used or being useful when caring for her grandchildren. Add to this the unpredictable moods associated with menopause and morning sickness and a husband caught in the cross fire between the two women that he loves and you have the ingredients of a bloody civil war. Each of us are in different ways Mother-in-Law. From the day we are born we begin to need to let go. When we go to school we let go of the security of the home. As we lose friends and relatives to death, as we lose our teeth and need eyeglasses, we are letting go to a process of aging which we often want to deny and subtly fight.

My own experience, apart from observing five wonderful sisters -in-law, is that of being a missionary. When I came to the Philippines 37 years ago the role image that I had of myself was very much of that being a mother. I was bringing the life of faith and the nourishment of the sacraments to a dependent flock. But, to be a missionary today is to stand back, to let the local Church take over, to let the laity take charge, to facilitate the growth of the Spirit already present. It is to move away from the center of the stage. It is, in short, to be a mother-in-law. Christ also had the mother-in-law experience. He had to let go of his own home and his own mother. He prepared the field for others to plow and reap. These others were humanly speaking very weak and incompetent. The apostles were a cowardly gang. Peter was impulsive and unreliable, Thomas lacked faith, and Judas used to help himself from the common purse. Yet, he gave over the stage to them and they carried on the work in their own way. A grasping, Lord, give me what I want, kind of prayer will do little prepare us for the letting go of the center of the stage that is the mother-in-law part of all of our lives. But if one has been meditating for 20 to 30 minutes twice daily we will be used to following Lords command to leave self behind. We will not find it too difficult to accept the letting go of control and of the center of the stage, the becoming a mother-in-law, that is a part of everyones life.
