A. Main Characters
a. Macbeth - the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor who was formerly a captain in
Duncan's army.
b. Lady Macbeth - The ambitious wife of Macbeth, who encourages her husband
to commit the desperate act of murder because of her ambition
c. Three witches - The three forces of fate
d. Macduff - A Thane from Scotland who discovered King Duncan's murder
e. Malcom - The son of Duncan who recruits a sizable army with the goal of
overthrowing the despot Macbeth
f. Banquo - A captain of King Duncan and a friend of Macbeth

V. Acts
A. Act I
Scotland wins the war against the Nords. Three witches told three prophecies and stated
that Macbeth would be the Thane of Cawdor and a king. Lady Macbeth learned about the
prophecies. King Duncan came and convinced Macbeth to kill King Duncan for the throne.

B. Act II
After Macbeth kills King Duncan, he lives with guilt while both of King Duncan's sons
fled out of fear and Macbeth became king.

C. Act III and IV


Out of fear that Banquo's son will be the next king. Banquo died, but Fleance escaped.
Macbeth was being haunted, but the son of Banquo led to strong paranoia. Macbeth visited the
witches, and the witches told him the three prophecies. Macbeth learned that Macduff fled to
England to join Malcom. Lady Macduff and her children were killed. Macduff swore revenge
with the help of the English army. The English army breached the castle. Macbeth finds out that
Macduff wasn't a woman born.Macbeth died fighting.

D. Act V
Malcom sent 10,000 soldiers to save Scotland from its corrupt leader. Macduff kills
Macbeth. Malcom becomes the king.
