Mochibana Decoration Set

A mochibana decoration is a Japanese good luck
charm displayed for New Year celebrations (usu-
ally the Lunar New Year ), comprised of small, ro-
und pieces of mochi (pounded rice cakes) and
dango (rice dumplings) hung on a willow branch
or other tree branch. It symbolizes hope for afflu-
ence and a rich harvest. Pink and white mochi is
often used in Japanese lucky items, and this one
also features feathers which represent safety
and good health, a spinning top to encourage
wealth to come "spinning" your way, the "mallet
of luck" which brings fortune when shaken and is
seen in the hand of Daikoku, god of agricultural
fertility. It also includes a red sea bream, a fish
considered lucky in Japan since times of old,
making this an extremely lucky decoration!
