RACISM IN AMERICA

We are all equal in God’s eyes, why are we not all equal here on earth? Each individual person
has the privilege and rights to whatever society has to offer. We should all be able to access the
resources that are available to become a better person. It is our job as whole to treat each other
with the same respect as ourselves.

Racism has been around for a very long time. It is where one race dominates and feels that they
have complete power over another. Racism is a sin, and it hinders our relationship with God. In
many cultures whites are given unearned benefits and privileges that one of color would be
denied. We should have self-awareness that all ethnic groups should have equal rights as
members of society. Listed below are rights that we do or should have available to all members
of society.

Rights of Religious Minorites- Each religion group has the right to exercise its faith

Rights of Children- All children have the right to education, food, shelter, clothing, and health
care. They must be protected for physical, emotional, and sexual abuse

Rights of Young people- They have the right to decision making process and should have
employment opportunities available to them.

Rights of Women and Men-Men and woman are both equal in common life. They both have
roles in the church and in the home.

Rights of Immigrants- They have equal employment rights, healthcare, education, and freedom.
Churches and societies should acknowledge the gifts and teaching that they can contribute to
society.

Rights of Health Care- Providing care to the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of everyone
disregarding if they can have coverage or ability to pay for treatment.

We are all God’s children and racism should not exist because he made each individual equal.
We elect officials to protect our rights and to make sure that each of us have the same
opportunity in society. It does not have to be only elected officials that can help the flow of
justice in the community it can just be a normal everyday person.

Catholic religion has principles that they teach to society that they can be used as building blocks
to a better world. A grounded family that consists of monogamous and enduring relationship is
the first step into human society. This will strengthen your economic and social matters in
society. Family is needed to overcome the challenges of the world. It must be concrete and stable
for the children to learn and grow.

Participation is our right and responsibility that plays a part in contributing to the whole as well.
All classes of citizens must participate in the growth of the economic and social progress. This
will give everyone the opportunity for their voice to be heard.

The best way to fulfill our obligation of justice and love is to contribute to the common good.
The common good should be your way of life. It will show how one can take advantage of
diversity but with the benefits of individuality to use as the social framework.

What can we do as an individual to participate in the journey to stop racism? You can contribute
justice by educating yourself by listening to others. We can distribute the truth to others by
sharing what we learned in a clear view. It does not always take laws and or legal action to get
the flow of justice started.

The mission for every individual should be to eliminate racism. Whether it be from the color of
your skin, wealth, gender, or religion. For justice to flow correctly in society we all must do our
part. It does not take much energy or effort to be a decent human being. In God’s eyes we are all
equal and we all have the right to what society has to offer. Racism will destroy the common
good and can lead to violence. We all must do our part to create a world where we are all treated
equally.
