1 SECURITY
Autex LIDER PLUS spreading machines are designed and built according to current
European legislation. They comply with the relevant safety regulations and incorporate
the safety devices indicated in Figure 1:

• Mobile safety bars with electrical locking to protect the operator from the
mechanical danger of impact with the moving carriage. When triggered they cause
the machine to stop.
• Run and stop safety devices that enable operations to be carried out during
automatic cycle after interrupting the cycle in a recognizably stable state.
• Emergency stop buttons with mechanical locking, located in zones where the
operator is more frequently present.
• Power supply shut-off device, to allow cleaning, maintenance and repair work to
be carried out safely.
• Fixed guards that must be opened using a special tool, and should only be opened
by authorized personnel for maintenance or repairs.
• Warning signs indicating the risk inherent in the moving working parts.

Figure 1: Location of the safety devices and zones

IMPORTANT: See the safety indications 5

IN S T R U C T I O N MAN U A L AUT E X LI D E R PL U S

All these safety devices are incorporated in, and form part of, the machine. The
modification, elimination or failure to maintain any component of the machine
increases the risk of accident, and involves non-compliance with Work Equipment
Directive 89/655/EEC.

The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage arising from the use of the
machine following any modification, elimination or failure to maintain its components that
has been carried out without its previous express approval.

2 GENERAL INFORMATION

2.1 Functions
The autex LIDER PLUS programmable spreading machine basically consists of a moving
carriage that spreads rolls of fabric in layers on a long table by traveling alternatively from
one end to the other. It includes a cutting device with a circular blade that moves across
the table to cut the fabric at the point pre-set by the operator. This cutting device may be
easily replaced by folding levers for zigzag spreading or a tubular accessory.

Figure 2: Lider Plus Spreader

Electrical motors, driving chains and toothed belt transmission systems power the
movement of the machine over the work table (main motor), the movements of the cutter,
and the raising of the cutting assembly (secondary motors). The spreading table
incorporates two clamps, one fixed and one adjustable, that hold down the ends of the
spread fabric.

The machine is controlled from a console fixed to the moving carriage. The machine is
fed by placing a roll of fabric in the upper rear part of the moving carriage.

• SPREADING MODES
The machine program allows the following fabric spreading operations to be carried out
on flat, airblown, suction or conveyor tables:

IMPORTANT: See the safety indications 7

IN S T R U C T I O N MAN U A L AUT E X LI D E R PL U S

Give more fabric when reducing (Zig-Zag): When we use the Zig-Zag accessory,
before entering the clamp, it feeds us a little extra, creating a loop which avoids the
stretching of the fabric.

Remove fabric when leaving: When leaving the clamp, it retains the fabric, eliminating
the small loop generated when entering the clamp.

Give more fabric when reducing (Cut): This is used with the cutting accessory. It feeds
a little fabric before cutting.
NOTE: These impulses are regular (in centimeters)

8.4.1 FEEDING VALUE

This numerical indicator gives us the feeding value that is currently in use. Using the +
and – bottons we can increase or decrease this value, which goes from -19,9 (less fabric)
to 19,9 (more fabric).

8.4.2 NORMAL/INVERSE FEEDING

This botton allows us to invert the dirrection of the band, to spread fabrics reverse
winded. The machine always works in Normal Feeding, unless we are using a reverse
winded roll, for which we have to activate Inverse and pass the fabric over the metalic roll
bar on top of the band.

8.4.3 PROGRAMMED / PENDULIN

With this option we tell the machine the type of feeding we want to use. If we select
PROGRAMMED, we can adjust the feeding with the +/- bottons in box 8.4.1. This is the
basic feeding system used by all AUTEX models.

The PENDULIN option is only available with our models equiped with the PENDULIN.
The pendulin adjusts automatically once we have previously entered the position value in
the box 8.4.5.

8.4.4 MIXED
This feeding control combines the PROGRAMMED and one adjustment of PENDULIN. It
is activated with the botton MIXED FEEDING and is only available on the machines with
the Pendulin option.
To configure it, we have to enter the value of the Pendulin in option 8.4.5 and adjust the
sensibility using the numerical value which is entered in option ST%. This value can
oscilate between 10 (less sensibility) and 100 (more sensibility).

8.4.5 PENDULIN ADJUSTMENT

This botton allows us to adjust the numerical value of the Pendulin, which has to be
adjusted once we thread the machine, entering the value we observe in 8.4.5.1 in box
8.4.5.2. The numerical value 8.4.5.1 variis with the movement of the Pendulin, where as
the value entered in 8.4.5.2 remains unchanged.

8.4.5.1 PENDULIN VALUE

This number indicates the working point of the Pendulin. It's important to adjust the
counterweights of the pendulin to modify the fabric tension. We have to thread the fabric
until the table to have a good adjustment of the Pendulin and the fabric has to have
enough strength to vary the numerical value.

IMPORTANT: See the safety indications 30

IN S T R U C T I O N MAN U A L AUT E X LI D E R PL U S

8.4.5.2 ENTERED VALUE

This value is entered by the operator, and it is the value we observe in 8.4.5.1 after
threading and adjusting the counterweights of the pendulin. The proper functioning of the
pendulin depends on the numerical value entered by the operator.

8.4.6 WIND BACK

This botton allows us to wind back the fabric from the table to the machine. When we
activate this option, we will see an Icon on the screen and the wind/unwind selector will be
anulled.

8.4.7 TUBULAR CONTROLS

The botton Tubular without band/Tubular with band is only active with the Tubular
accessory. Tubular with band allows us to spread tubular from roll using the band, and if
we are spreading from Book Folded we have to activate Tubular without band since the
fabric does not go through it.

8.4.8 QUARTER TURN

System used with the Tubular accessory and a machine equiped with the quarter turn
system. When we want to work with this system, we must activate the option.

the layers done in the program.

8.6 COUNTER CONTROL

With the +/- bottons we increase or decrease the layers to modify the spreading.

8.7 ELEVATOR
The up/down arrows raise and lower the accessory used with the machine. The limit
switch is indicated with micros, but if we manually lower the accessory with the down
arrow, the photocell will mark the limit.

8.8 CUT BOTTON

With this botton, we execute a manual cut. This operation will not be accounted for with
the layer counter.
In case of emergency, we can stop the machine with the Main Switch botton, and once
the problem is resolved, we push the cut botton to return the cutter to its original resting
position.

changing the led colour from yellow to green and continuing with the spreading process.
Second, push the stop botton which automatically stops the cutting process and the led
changes from yellow to red.

8.11 How to perform a link up

It's important that the link up points table be programmed for it to work correctly.

If we are executing a link up, it's probably because we have run out of fabric before
finishing the mark. To execute a link up, we have to follow the next steps:
• Step 1:
Using botton 6, move the machine to the same point where the fabric ended.
• Step 2:
Push botton 8 to execute this function. We will observe the machine move to
the co-ordinate where the link up has to be performed.

8.12 HOW TO ELIMINATE A FAULT

To eliminate a fault, the machine has to be positioned in the beginning of the fault (we
might need to push bottons 3 and 6 to position the machine)
Steps to be taken:
• Step 1:
When we locate the fault, we will position the machine at the fault, push botton 1 and the
machine will move automatically using botton 6 and will gather activating botton 3, up to
the co-ordinates to resolve the link, automatically cuts the leftover fabric and will move to
where we marked the fault.

• Step 2:
If the fault is extended over the length of the fabric, we will move the machine to the end
of the fault and push botton 7 to do a manual cut. Once cut we can get rid of the faulty
fabric.
• Step 3:
To link the fabrics we push botton 2, which will overlap the fabrics to continue spreading.
(Once we finish with the link we can exit this screen and return to the work screen)

10 INCIDENTS WHILE SPREADING

10.1 End of Roll

When a roll is finished, the machine automatically stops at Point 0, since the alignment
sensor detects lack of fabric, except on tubular option, where the alignment sensor is not
used. In this case, the operator has to push the STOP botton when he observes the end of
the roll. The machine will stop at Point 0.

10.2 Defect treatment

The operator has to decide the necessary action depending on the defect (Stop the cycle
or not, elimination or conservation of the fabric or layer, suplementary layer
programmation, etc.)
If the operator wants to eliminate a defect, he has to stop the machine, make a cut at the
beginning, another at the end of the defect and continue spreading at the desired point.
The small defects can be eliminated making a cut in the center of the defect and we can
continue spreading from that point.

10.3 Sharpening the blade

The sharpenning of the blade is done pushing the botton found in the MAIN MENU,
WORK MENU or CUTTER SETUP MENU. ( 7.2.4, 7.2.4.3.1, 8.9.1)
