DETERMINING WHICH IS

MORE EFFECTIVE BETWEEN

COGON GRASS AND
BANANA LEAF AS AN
ALTERNATIVE INGREDIENT
FOR PAPER-MAKING
INTRODUCTION
The yearly production of paper accounts to roughly
13-15% of wood consumption. This results to various
environmental problems such as deforestation, carbon
emission, and landfill wastes. Various researchers have
attempted to remedy this problem by introducing a
solution that could lessen the usage of wood in the
process of paper making. Leaves of the plants such as
Banana tree, Guava tree, Pineapple, Cogon grass and
many more fiber making leaves have been used and are
still being used in creating handmade papers. With this
in mind, the researchers of this study will conduct a
comparative research regarding the level of effectivity,
durability, and recyclability of the leaves that are being
used as a substitute for trunks as source of paper fibers.
