finances-as-a-single-mother/

Goodwill supplies single mothers with advice on how to balance a career, family,
and finances. It includes tips for being a successful single mother while also
providing links for career centers and open job positions. This is one of the few web
pages that directly address single mothers and the daily struggles they may face,
although other websites can still be beneficial. Goodwill has links for job training
and success stories from others who have used this resource.

Fairygodboss is a website that provides women with potential job openings while
also providing a supportive network system designed to help them know their worth
and the opportunities that are available to them. I gave Fairygodboss a star
because of the highly rated reviews that others have given it and the unique
resources it provides for mothers and their developing careers. I appreciate that a
portion of the website is set aside for networking for people such as single mothers
who may benefit from hearing other stories or tips. It provides women with
resources that can assist them in finding flexible work, informational webinars, and
pregnancy/work balance advice. Fairygodboss does require its users to make an
account, but it is a straightforward process and seems to provide helpful career
resources to women.

Path Forward – Empowering you to restart your career after caregiving

Path Foward is specifically designed for individuals who are reentering the
workforce after primarily being a caregiver. This website works with companies and
clients to create internships for returning professionals, which are also known as
returnships. It lists the opportunities based on field and/or city, making it easy to
find what is needed. It also gives people like single mothers access to a list of
companies they are most likely going to have success being hired by. This website
is useful to single mothers reentering the workforce
Job Openings/Occupational Information

This is a great website for single moms who are interested in finding flexible
employment opportunities. It also provides information on career coaching services,
and career tools, and business resources that are available. Everything within the
website has been designed to help single mothers be successful in their personal
and professional lives. This website not only highlights available jobs but also has
free resources such as career assessments, assistance with cover letters and
resumes, as well as interviewing tools. It provides a mixture of free and paid
resources and has a decent variety of career information. This is one that some
may find more helpful than others but I think that it can be helpful to single
mothers who are looking for resources and career guidance.

*Monster Jobs - Job Search, Career Advice & Hiring Resources | Monster.com

Monster is a website-based tool designed to help people easily search for open job

engines for job searching and can prove to be a useful tool in finding jobs and
companies that are hiring. It is simple to use with the search engine being on the
first page and provides other links to resources for those looking to grow their
career. This website can help single mothers who are reentering the workforce

Educational Information

*Education Grants for Single Mothers (singlemothersgrants.org)

This website offers single mothers information regarding grants for college. Many
women may need to further their education in order to continue their careers, and
this is a great site with loads of information about scholarships and grants. Not only
does this site provide educational information but it also provides single mothers
with other resources for financial assistance that can help with bills, attaining food,
childcare, and more. Many single mothers have to worry about whether they will be
able to pay their bills while going to school or working the job they want while
needing childcare. I see this as an important resource for single mothers working
on their career development as it is easy to access and includes grants and
assistance by state.

Interest Inventory

*Interest Profiler (IP) at O*NET Resource Center (onetcenter.org)

The Interest Profiler (IP) can be a great resource for single mothers that need
assistance discovering what type of work-related activities and occupations they
find appealing or work best with where they are at in their life. I gave this website a
star because I found it to be easily accessible while also being a credible interest
inventory. It is consistent with Holland’s R-I-A-S-E-C Interest Structure and can be
a starting point to mothers who are reentering the workforce but are unsure of
what they should do. It is an inventory that would not take long to complete, with it
only having 60 questions. Once the IP is completed, inventory takers can explore
the website further for career options.

Occupational Databases

*Home : Occupational Outlook Handbook: : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

(bls.gov)

This website is useful for those who are looking to gather more information on the
occupations available so they can decide on what career path to take or how to
continue furthering their previously established career. The Occupational Outlook
Handbook provides people with a list of career choices, information about the
occupational field, educational requirements and potential salary. People such as
single mothers who are reentering the workforce can use this website to see
potential job opportunities based on their previous experience and education level.
It provides several ways to access occupation lists and specific information related
to the career. While this website can be beneficial to anyone seeking information on
certain occupations, single mothers who have either had a career and need help
getting reestablished or mothers who are needing to begin their career can find
many useful links in this database.
