What is engineering?
Engineering is problem solving using different knowledge areas and design. It can branch out
into many different areas.

To be successful, what must engineers become familiar with?

“To be successful, engineers must become familiar with a wide variety of fields, and experts in some
specific fields.”
Engineers should be able to design a solution to a specific problem. This would probably require
a variety of scientific methods and knowledge in them.

What type of “background knowledge” is needed for engineers of the TV bracket example?
They would need knowledge of  structural design, background in the manufacturing processes, some
background on the types of surfaces it would mount to, and the screws & nuts that would be used, some
basic idea of how the bracket would be installed by the final customer and how it would be used after it
is installed. The engineer would also need some knowledge of TVs to be able to make a bracket
compatible with most TVs.

What is Design?
To graphically plan the creation of a product with details that allow someone to build it.

Write down your top 5 fields of engineering from the list provided in section 1.1 on the Vex site
 Computer Engineering
 Industrial Engineering
 Manufacturing Engineering
