I. Read the story and answer the following questions below:

Icarus was a curious boy. He wanted to fly like the birds and did not obey
his father. Listen to your teacher as he/she reads the story below and see how
Icarus made wrong use of his curiosity.

Icarus and Daedalus

Icarus and his father, Daedalus, were imprisoned by King Minos in a tower.
This was because Daedalus freed the people who were to be fed to Minotaur, a
half-human, half-bull monster that was being kept by King Minos in his labyrinth.
A labyrinth is a place full of passages where one can easily get lost. To escape
from the tower, Daedalus made wings out of birds' feathers and beeswax. He and
Icarus would wear these wings to cross the ocean and fly back to their land. When
the wings were ready, Daedalus said to Icarus, "Son, we are ready to go. But,
remember, if you fly too low and too close to the waves, your feathers will get wet
and your wings will be too heavy to keep you up in the air. If you fly too high, the
heat of the sun will melt the wax that holds the feathers of your wings together."
Icarus said, "Yes, Father." But he was not really listening because he was very
excited to fly. He was so curious how it would feel to fly like a bird. As they
started to fly, Icarus enjoyed flying in the wide heavens. He flapped his wings
stronger and went higher and higher until he was close to the sun. The heat of the
sun was too strong that soon the wax in his wings started to melt. Suddenly, he
dropped straight down into the sea. It happened so quickly that his father could not
find where his son fell.
