Post Rehearsal or Lesson Reflections

Content Adjustment: Based on diagnostic and formative assessments during today’s lesson/rehearsal, list any repertoire
or activities that were omitted from the plan. Why? Will the omitted items need to be included in tomorrow’s
lesson/rehearsal?
There was nothing omitted from the lesson plan today.

Rehearsal or Lesson Adjustment: If you were going to re-teach today’s lesson/rehearsal, how would you have done it
differently.
If I could have retaught today's lesson, I would have liked to prepare a lesson plan that was more directly applicable to the
fundamentals that we are struggling with in the unit. I used the Emile rhythm exercise because I thought that a lot of the
issues stemmed from rhythmic issues, but after the lesson plan I learned that many of the students were still struggling
with the fingerings for the notes in the excerpt. In the future I will need to add a lesson plan that addresses some of the
fingering issues.

Reflection on Teaching: Analyze and evaluate your lesson/rehearsal and classroom management.

This lesson overall went fine, but I felt somewhat frustrated as it was happening. I had to address behavior more frequently
than normal, and it seemed like the students were just not focused on the music. I don't know if there was something else
going on at school that day that distracted them, but it made it much more difficult to reach the day's objectives. I also
wondered if the students were bored by the material, so to improve their engagement next time, I am going to try to
include a new activity or something else that will grab their attention.
