 CHAPTER ONE

PIGS IN THE PARLOUR

I have a burden. The burden of my heart is, borne out of the great
chasm between the standard of Christianity which I grew up to know and
the modern trend which leaves much to be desired. When I got born
again in 1974, there was no room for sitting on the fence. Believers and
ministers were completely sold out to the Lord.
The kind of Christian experience which people parade in our present
generation is a far cry from the standard of the good old days. Christianity
has become a popular religion. The laity and the clergy have imbibed a
type of Christian life that is watered down.

MINISTERIAL DIVERSION
Christian conduct is rather cosmetic than real. We live the Christian
life as if we are on a picnic. only very few believers are ready to contend
for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. The real substance is
gone. Most believers and ministers are now busy chasing shadows. We
relish fantasy while we reject the real essence of true Christianity
I was privileged early in life to be exposed to sound doctrine, I came
to grips with the fact that men and women have chosen to hold on to
things that lack substance. I also discovered that the godly stock is fast
diminishing. This is made clear In the scriptures.
Ps 12:1: Help, LORD; for the godly man ceasoth; for the faithful fall from
among the children of men.
There is a serious problem in the church. There are pigs in the
parlour. Godliness has jumped out of the window. Nowhere is the
precarious problem more pronounced than among ministers of the
gospel. What men and women of God need today is to return to primitive
Christianity. We all need to pray that God should take us back to Bethel.
We need to ask God to effect ministerial restoration, renewal and revival
within the body of Christ.
We need to be shaken spiritually in order to experience the removal of
the negative tendencies which we have imbibed. The starting point is
spiritual revival. This is one point from which all men and, women of God
must start the journey towards spiritual recovery.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS
The first ministerial meeting which I attended took place some 25
years ago. Our main speaker happened to be an eighty-two year old
veteran. He was indeed an experienced minister. The topic is still fresh in
my memory: "The foundation of ministerial failure" The old preacher
stated, clearly that he had a burden for the ministers of the gospel. He
declared, "The tragedy of modern day ministry is that many ministers
may not be able to fulfill their ministries". He rounded off the message
with these words: "Let him that thinketh, he standeth, take heed, lest he
fall"

MINISTERIAL DELIVERANCE
Nobody needs deliverance more than ministers of the gospel. The
one who needs deep deliverance is the deliverance minister himself. It is
quite easy for us to surmise that the people to whom we minister need
deliverance while we exclude ourselves from this important area of need.
There will be greater successes in our ministerial endeavours when all
categories of ministers see the need and go ahead to run themselves
through deliverance.
You cannot minister effectively and have your services approved by
God, if you fall to obtain deliverance in certain vital areas of life and
ministry. If ordinary members and people are told that without deliverance
fulfillment of life and destiny will remain elusive, ministers of the gospel
should also be made conscious of the indispensable nature of personal
and ministerial deliverance as a criterion for success and holistic living.

VITAL AREAS OF DELIVERANCE
Let us examine some vital areas where deliverance is necessary.
Failure to obtain deliverance in any of them will lead to disaster.
1. Deliverance From Sin
To function as a minister you must have experienced deliverance from
sin before enlisting Christian service. The first qualification, you need in
order to be labelled as a man or a woman of God, is deliverance from sin.
It is not negotiable. Deliverance from sin is a starting point as far as the
ministerial calling is concerned. To go into the ministry without
experiencing deliverance from sin can be likened to putting the cart
before the horse. Those who have, not experienced deliverance from sin,
are as good as blind leaders trying to help a company of blind people
move across a dangerous narrow bridge; both the leader and the led will
fall into the river. The only remedy for sin is total deliverance. To decide
to patch things up will amount to pouring water into a basket. All the
energy expended in that venture will yield no result.
There is no dark stain as stubborn as the stain of sin. The only soap
that can wash it clean is the soap of total deliverance from sin.
Sin is so deadly that it took the most lovely life on earth and nailed
Him to the cross. Sin made the Son of God to remain hanging between
heaven and earth. His head could not touch the heavens while his legs
could not touch the earth. He was rejected by the people whom He came
to die for, while His heavenly Father also rejected Him. Sin is so bad that
God turned His back on His only begotten son.
Sin kept Jesus suspended between heaven and earth. No amount of
scientific breakthrough or technological knowhow can solve the sin
problem. Strange enough, brilliant scientists are also caught in the web of
sin. We have no business teaching people fancy topics in the church
while they remain captives of sin.
Ministers who spend several hours teaching faith and prosperity
without telling the congregation that God hates sin with perfect hatred are
wasting precious time. It is the height of spiritual fraudulence to fail to tell
people that sin stinks. The truth is that ministers who are not delivered
from sin cannot help people to obtain salvation and deliverance from sin.
It takes a minister who has obtained deliverance from sin to lead a
congregation of people who have truly obtained deliverance from sin.

DELIVERANCE FROM SIN
To obtain deliverance from sin is quite simple. God has promised to
grant His people, Including ministers, deliverance from sin.
Matt 1:2: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
JESUS: for he Shall save his people from their sins.
It is possible to obtain deliverance from sin and consequently live a
sinless life. You will no longer go into sin deliberately. Those who are
delivered from sin do not pre-meditate and go into sinful acts. Of course,
when such a fellow falls into sin, mistakenly or accidentally, he quickly
repents demonstrating hatred for every step taken towards backslidding.
2. Deliverance From The Flesh
The second type of deliverance that is needed by ministers of God, is
deliverance from the flesh. The flesh is the hidden spy within our system.
The flesh is the enemy within the camp. It is the hidden spy that operates
from within. The flesh is, indeed, horrible. Paul, the apostle, was
conscious of the domineering power of the flesh when he said: "I put my
body under, lest after I have preached to others I myself become a cast
away." The flesh is so stubborn that it can make you preach to others
and go to hell at the end of the day. The task of putting the flesh under
control lies squarely on your shoulders.
Nobody will do it for you. If you fail to tame the flesh, it will mess up
your ministry. If you go about saying "God will help me", you are living in
self-deceit. You must make conscious personal efforts rather than pass
the buck to others.
The flesh is very rebellious. You must put it where it belongs; under
subjection. This explains why the Bible says, except a grain of wheat falls
into the ground and dies it abideth alone.
The flesh must be put to death, if you want God to use you the way
He wants to. If you allow the flesh to have a free day, It will ruin your life
and ministry. The flesh has a knack fat disgracing people in high places.
It is a subtle enemy that is capable of making ministers fall from grace to
grass.

ABOMINATION!
In recent times, we have had ugly reports and news concerning some
respected men of God. Such reports were occasioned when they gave
room to. the flesh. Recently, a minister had a quarrel with his wife. The
wife's mother came into the house to settle the quarrel. The conflict was
so serious that the settlement went beyond midnight. unknown to the
wife; seductive eye contacts were established between the minister and
his mother-in-law.
After the settlement, the minister and his wife retired to their rooms.
The wife woke up around 3:00 am and, went to the toilet to ease herself.
After visiting the toilet she peeped into, the husband's room only to see a
strange sight. She almost fainted When she saw her husband who
happened to be a pastor, sleeping with her mother. Needless to say, that
was the end of the marriage.
You may wonder what would have made a minister of the gospel to
descend so low as to commit such an abominable act. It is no other thing
but the flesh. The scandal also led to the end of the man's ministry.
Some men of God have boasted saying: "I have gone beyond that
kind of scandal. I can never make that kind of kindergarten mistakes."
Some words!
Don't ever deceive yourself saying that you can never fall or make a
scandalous mistake. Those who boast of their Infallibility are deceiving
themselves. Paul, the apostle, declared: "We have no confidence in the
flesh". The moment you become overconfident, you are finished.
3. Deliverance from the Love of Money.
The third deliverance needed by all ministers is the deliverance from
the love of money. Money itself is not a problem. Money can either
become a servant or it can become a master.
Many modern day ministers have allowed money to become a master
to them. The peril of modern day ministers is the love of money. Another
word for money is mammon. Mammon is the spirit behind money. If you
don't conquer it, it will conquer you.
Money has caused untold number of spiritual casualties in
christendom. Many believe that as soon as they have enough money to
spend, all their problems in life and ministry will be over.
In the world, those who have money are busy hoarding it. The wealthy
are hardly generous. Rich people are often stingy. If you undertake a
research into the lives of rich men and women, you will hardly come
across those who have not had crooked deals.
Pastors who preach prosperity and relegate God's word to the
background are leading their congregations astray. The love of money is
a deliverance case. It is unfortunate that many pastors have lost sight of
the fact that their blessings reside in being preoccupied with the spiritual
well-being of their congregation.
Ministers who do God's work faithfully will be blessed. I have
discovered that pastors or ministers who love money and run after
material gain never find it. Surprisingly, God has blessed men and
women of God who are not looking for money at all.

THE BLESSING OF THE LORD
I started out in the ministry without any thought of making money. All I
wanted to do was to serve the Lord and rescue souls from hell. I invested
my income in the work of the Lord.
 If I had wanted to make money I would have willingly accepted a job
offer from many international establishments. Although I knew that the
world is in dire need of brilliant scientists, I opted to join the group of
those who were ready to spend and be spend in order to rescue the
perishing. If I had chosen the greener pasture which the idea of working
for an international organization presented, I would have ended up
earning some thousands of dollars as my salary every month.
I decided to put my hands on the plough, burn the bridges behind me
and serve the Lord as a minister even when I was not sure of any
financial gain. Some of my colleagues who heard that I tendered my
resignation from a foremost African research institute, wondered what led
me into the ministry. Some of them even made comments like "Why did
you decide to become a pastor after an unprecedented academic record
in field? Why did you have to bag a PhD if all you were going to do was
to stand behind the pulpit and preach?"
I did not listen to their comments. The die was cast. There was no
going back. I decided to preach the gospel rather than make a name in
the academician world. Even when I started writing Christian books I
never knew that God in His divine wisdom and sovereignty, would
surpass the record I made as an academic. So far, the number of our
Christian books has gone beyond one hundred and fifty. It may interest
you to know that a particular book, "Prayer Rain", has sold in millions.
To be honest with you, Prayer Rain is now acclaimed to be the best
selling prayer book in the world. Prayer Rain has become so popular that
it is used by most churches, ministries and denominations, Catholic
Priests, Orthodox Clergy as well as those who belong, to the white
garment tradition: It may even :surprise you that Muslims own and make
use of Prayer Rain.
On two separate occasions, two people have sent me cheques
running to millions of naira each as a way of showing appreciation for
receiving help when they needed it most. They had problems and made
use of the prayer points contained in Prayer Rain.
However, each of them made a vow that 10% of the money they
made would be sent to the author of the book as a sort of appreciation.
Tell me what kind of job will you do and you will be sent a cheque of
N10million as your salary? The truth is that ministers who serve the lord
without making money their God will always be blessed beyond their
wildest dreams. God will never fail true ministers who serve Him in
sincerity. Don't ever make money or mammon your idol.
I have a word here for pastors or ministers who are guilty of stealing
God's money. If you are a branch pastor in your church and you decide
to dip hands into the treasury, thinking that the General Overseer may
never know, you are revelling in self deceit. You must realize that God's
eye runs to and fro and will easily detect the slightest act of theft in the
house of God. In any case, you cannot dip your hands into the offering
bag or steal God's money secretly and believe that when you lay those
hands on the sick they will recover. You must obtain deliverance. from
the god of mammon if you want to go far with God.

 CHAPTER TWO

THE SATANIC TRAP

Satan is an adept at setting traps. He sets deadly traps in order to

cage ministers who desire to serve the lord. Since he knows that men
and women of God will do everything to avoid disobeying the lord, he
makes use of hidden traps in order to lure ministers into danger. In this
chapter we shall explore two weapons often used by the devil. Pride and
worldliness are used as booby traps by the enemy.

Deliverance From Pride
God hates pride in the lives of ministers as much as he hates the vice
in the lives of ordinary members of the church. Many ministers have lost
their ministries and calling through pride. The shortest distance between
you and the pit of destruction is pride. Lucifer was specially endowed with
unusual gifts. He was given a special name "Son of the morning star" but
fell through pride.
History is replete with stories of men of God who achieved,
monumental greatness but fell or crashed embarrassingly due to pride.
God hates proud people but gives grace to the humble.
Many ministers generally forget their humble beginnings when they
begin to achieve little success. At the end of the day they forget their
source. The elders say that any river that forgets its source will soon dry
up. Pride will always lead to monumental ministerial fall. You must repent
of pride if you want to continue to receive the grace of God.
Grace has nothing to do with pride. Eloquence of speech, the ability,
to raise the dead and unusual proficiency in ministry can easily make a
minister to be puffed up and to behave as if he is self-made. Most of our
ministers today need to go through deliverance and be purged of all
tendencies towards being proud.

The Peril Of Pride

What is pride?
It is self-exaltation. To be proud is to rate yourself higher than you
really are. Proud ministers betray their calling. When you manifest pride,
you are parading yourself, as a child of the devil. One of the glaring
marks of being a true minister is complete humility.
If you are truly a minister of God, your speech, comportment and total
carriage must be characterized by humility. Even if you are a General
Overseer, you have no excuse for displaying arrogance. Jesus, our Lord
and Saviour, was meek and lowly in heart. Although the Bible calls Him
the King of kings and Lord of lords, He manifested genuine humility.
Don't ever price yourself above your level. Pride is the first sin the
universe. God hates pride with perfect hatred.

The Proud NUN
I read a story, several. years ago. In a convent near Rome, there was
a nun who seemed to have gifts of inspiration and prophecy, and her
abbess had reported to the pope wonderful stories of her power.
Philip Neri, a man Of rare discernment, visited the pope, and hearing
about the nun, volunteered to find out the truth of the reports. He threw
himself on his mule, and hastened through the mud and mire to the
distant convent. He told the abbess the wishes of His Holiness, and
begged her to summon the nun without delay. The nun was sent for, and
as soon as she came into the apartment, Philip stretched out his leg, all
bespattered with mud and desired her to draw off his boots.
The young nun, who had become the object of much attention and
respect, drew back with anger, and refused the office.
 Philip ran out of doors, mounted his mule and returned instantly to the
pope: "Give yourself no uneasiness, Holy Father; here is no miracle for
there is no humility."

AMAZING!
The day a minister of God begins to say "Don't you know who I am or
can't you respect my anointing", pride is evident. Many ministers have
thrown humility over-board.
I once witnessed a mild drama between a minister and a female
member. The woman simply said, "Sir, this pastor is not born again" The
Pastor's reply shook me to the marrow. Instead of demonstrating the
virtues of a minister, he yelled back at the woman. "Your father is not
born again."
Jesus is our perfect example. He remains an embodiment of humility.
By the time those who were supposed to arrest Him came for Him, they
found it difficult to distinguish Jesus from the rest of the disciples, Jesus
was dressed in a common manner and it required a Judas to identify him.
Today, many pastors accumulate debt Just to conform with latest trends
in fashion. Unfortunately, the power of God has nothing to do with
.flamboyant dressing. If flamboyant dressing is the hallmark of spiritual
anointing, Elijah would have been a nonentity as he wore the same dress
for 3½ years.
If as a Pastor you put on the most expensive clothes in your church,
you are running your ministerial race on the wrong track. Shun pride.
Embrace humility.

Deliverance From Worldliness
If there is any area where ministers need deliverance, it is deliverance
from the world. The world system is characterized by the nature of the
chameleon. Worldliness will hinder you from fulfilling your calling.
The Bible is, very plain:
 1 John 2:15-17: Love not the world, neither the things that arc in the
world. If any man love the World, the love of the Father is not in him. For
all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world
passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God
abideth for over.

MATERIALS FOR FIRE
It is crystal clear that the things of the world are transient; they are at
best raw materials for fire. Many ministers have resorted to the use of'
worldly styles to administer the church. The system of the world is subtle.
The world has an uncanny ability for trapping those who are least
expected to fall prey: men and women of God.
Do you know that the things of this world are raw materials for fire?
They shall all be consumed within a split second. The glory, the
allurement and high value placed on them shall be reduced to ashes and
rubbles at the end of time.
It is unfortunate, grossly so, that pastors are now in the vanguard of
the quest for Worldliness. There is no way we can be used by God to
save the world when we ourselves are submerged by the power of
worldliness. "He who would be a mover of the world must not be moved
by the world," says a writer.
Latest fashion styles, modern trends, worldly patterns, carnal
showmanship and fleshly vainglory are found among those who are
called men of God. Majority of ministers behave as if the divine
commandment against worldliness is meant for ordinary believers.
Ministers are not only becoming grossly worldly, they are also guilty of
trying to lead God's flock by using worldly systems.

THE SATANIC STRATEGY
Although ministers are aware of the fact that the Bible has reminded
us that we are peculiar people, many are still rushing into the wide net of
worldliness without considering the danger of being caught in the web
fabricated by the spirit behind worldliness.
Worldliness is so subtle that anyone can be trapped in it The devil is
smart game player. He captures his victim by employing the weapon of
subtlety. Worldliness can exert pressure on the mind of ministers of the
gospel through the use of cunning methods. When ministers of the
gospel continue to embrace worldly styles and patterns, a little at a time,
satan, the god of this world, is on the prowl. He is at work every hour of
the day seeking whom to devour instalmental.

THE CARELESS FROG
The instalmental strategy is the major weapon which the devil uses in
the area of worldliness. He lulls ministers to sleep. How does he plan and
accomplish his evil goal? The illustration below aptly portrays the satanic
game plan.
Some live frogs were caught and taken to a scientific laboratory. Each
of the frogs was thrown into a beaker containing hot water. They all
jumped out. The scientist caught another set of frogs. The scientific
method used this time was slightly different in order to ascertain certain
things. Each of the newly caught frog was placed in a beaker containing
cold water. Since the temperature of the water was normal, the frogs
decided to adjust to the new environment.
However, the scientist placed a source of heat under each beaker.
Each beaker 'was heated gradually. At the beginning the frogs enjoyed
the warmth of the water. As the fire continued to burn the frogs kept on
adapting to the environment. Even when the water was becoming
unbearably hot the frogs did not come up with a complaining kick. The
water gradually snowballed to boiling point. Before the frogs could fathom
what was happening they had all been cooked to death. That was how
the frogs were lured to death through the gradual increase of the
temperature of the water.
The set of frogs thrown inside hot water jumped out to safety because
they sensed the danger of the deadly environment. However, when
another set of frogs were gradually introduced to a deadly environment
they were boiled to death since the danger of Installment death was
concealed.
Worldliness is subtle. It does not capture its victim suddenly. Many
ministers of the gospel who were once vibrant and aglow spiritually are
dying instalmentally. Worldliness is on the prowl. This satanic serpent
has bared its fangs In readiness to Inject its deadly poison into the lives
of men and women of God. A little sting here and another there; the
satanic temperature will be gradually increased until the ministers are
boiled, spiritually to death.

INSTALMENTAL SUICIDE
Are you a victim of install mental killing? Are you enjoying the warmth
of the water of worldliness? Are you swimming in the water of worldliness
not knowing that ministerial death is imminent? Why embrace worldliness
and allow the enemy to terminate your ministerial assignment? Will you
allow the pebbles of worldliness to slay your ministerial calling? Why not
seek deliverance from worldliness today?
If your ministerial destiny must be fulfilled, you must avoid the lure of
worldliness. If you are not presently caught in its web, beware. Seek
deliverance promptly if you are a victim or a casualty of the power of
worldliness. When you are fully delivered you will be empowered to fulfill
your ministerial destiny.

 CHAPTER THREE

WHY MINISTERS FAIL

Ministerial failure is one of the greatest problems which the Church is

grappling with today. There are instances of failure in the lives of
ministers of the gospel. Since failure has become endemic, we need to
critically examine reasons for failure in the ministry.

Deliverance From Failure
One of the greatest threats to modern man is the fear of failure.
Nobody wants to fail; everyone wants to succeed. Whenever failure is
mentioned a lot of people panic. Failure is so dreaded that many people
have attempted suicide after experiencing failure in some areas of life's
endeavours.
If there is one area where failure has been all pervading, it is in the
area of ministerial assignment. The truth is that if there is one area
where-success has not been so easy to achieve, it is in the area of the
ministry. Why is this so? It is simply because it demands a great deal of
hard work, uncommon persistence, possession of unique talents, virtues,
and skills as well as a great passion for succeeding.
In spite of the odds, the engineering profession, medicine, law and
other disciplines are easier to practice than the work of the ministry. The
reasons are not farfetched. As a minister you have to combine your
interpersonal skills with spiritual qualities if you must relate properly and
effectively with those placed under your care. Your members obviously
need social, financial, intellectual and psychological help as they go
through hard times or face the challenges of life. However, their needs
are not limited to the physical realm. It is your responsibility to help them.
Also, as their spiritual fattier, you are supposed to help them, solve life's
inexplicable riddles. You are also expected to arm them with the weapon
necessary for fighting and winning life's battles.

REASON FOR FAILURE
When we survey the entire gamut of the ministerial landscape, we
shall discover that quite a number of ministers have failed in their duties
and responsibilities. Many ministers have recorded monumental failure In
their ministries. They start and before they can get to the middle of
fulfilling their vision, failure has sent them packing and they have hit the
list of casualties of ministerial failure.
The failure of a number of ministers can be traced to laziness. and
inability to abide by the divine blueprint. Others who have also failed are
victims of ancestral curses or embargoes placed on their family lines. In
some families members are prone to failure, be they engineers.
businessmen or career civil servants. Those who come from such
families will fail even if they are ministers of the gospel.
Whenever failure is entrenched in the root of a particular family. the
members will fail even if they move from secular business to the work of
ministry.
Another reason why people fail can be traced to their neglect of little
things. If you gloss over little things saying that it does not really matter,
you will harvest failure sooner or later. 'There is nothing insignificant' says
a writer. What you call insignificant are exactly the same things that can
be put together for a harvest of failure to be in place. Little drops of water
make a mighty ocean. If the devil knows that you may not fail in important
areas of life, he will try to cajole you to allow insignificant things and
consequently fail thereafter.
No matter what is the cause of failure in your own life, you can,
indeed, experience total deliverance from failure. If you have failed in the
past you don't have to fail again. If your ancestors have been crippled
with failure you don't have to experience failure. If powers from the pit of
hell have vowed that your ministry will fail woefully, you can prove them
wrong by succeeding where others fail and making it where others are
busy dropping out of the ministerial race.

THE ORPHAN
Remember, failure is an orphan. Nobody wants to associate with
failure. Everyone wants to succeed. You must fight the battle against
failure and ensure that the word "FAILURE" is completely erased from
every facet of your life and ministry.
The truth is that you can only overcome failure and succeed in your
ministerial calling when you are completely set free from every influence
from the spirit of failure. Even when you have experienced deliverance
from ministerial failure you must keep on fighting against failure in every
department of your life.

 CHAPTER FOUR

YOUR FOUNDATION AND YOUR
MINISTRY

If deliverance from the areas listed so far are important. the next area
which I am going to highlight is. without doubt, the area in which
deliverance is most needed. The area under discussion in this chapter is
one which has been responsible for the downfall of a countless number
of ministers. We will have few casualties among ministers of the gospel if
men of God seek and obtain total deliverance in this area.

THE BURDEN
What you have read so far must have shown you that there is a heavy
burden in my heart for ministers of the gospel. The high spate of
scandals, the increasing casualty rate, the deplorable conditions of the
lives and families of modern day ministers as well as the appalling
decline in the spiritual lives of ministers who, by calling, are supposed to
be examples to the flock, have made me to see the need for hammering
the topic in this chapter.
I took this burden to the Lord and He showed me certain deep
secrets. The Lord pointed my attention to certain neglected areas in the
lives of ministers.

THE FOUNDATION
To understand the import of what we are considering, please read the
passage below with rapt attention.
 Ps 11:3: If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The greatest problem among ministers today stems from the gross
neglect of the foundation. We have lost sight of the fact that the strength
of a building depends on the foundation. The stability of a tree depends
on its roots. It is appalling that the foundations of many ministers are
either weak or destroyed. Many men of God are standing on collapsed
foundations. This has resulted in the opening of cans of worms. Many
have fallen and this has been cataclysmic. No wonder the Bible says:
2 Sam 1:19: The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how arc
the mighty fallen
2 Sam 1:27: How arc the mighty fallen, and the weapons of warp
perished!
We must never toy with weak foundations. If a foundation is weak, it
will collapse or cave in sooner or later. A weak foundation will graduate
Into, destruction sooner or later.

THE OPEN DOOR
Many of us express surprise when we come across scandals or
occasions of falls by the high and mighty among frontline ministers of the
gospel. little do we take cognizance of the fact that it is due to the fact
that openings were carelessly left by ministers. According to a Czech
proverb "Misfortunes always come in by a door that has been left open
for them." Therefore, if your foundation is porous it will be destroyed
sooner or later.
When the foundation is destroyed, there is nothing anyone can do.
Please note the words, "What can the righteous do?" This should awaken
in us the consciousness of the fact that once the foundation is destroyed
hell will be let lose. There is no amount of patching up anyone can do to
amend a bad foundation.
Yes, the Bible has made us to know that the lord can deliver the
righteous from any form of affliction.
 Ps 34:19: Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD
delivereth him out of them all.
If the Lord has promised to deliver the righteous from all afflictions,
how come there is an area of affliction that is impossible or too stubborn
to deal with? It is simply because the foundation is the live wire of the
building. In any building, problems like plumbing, repair of windows,
mending walls or changing of roofing sheets can be done with ease. But
if the problem has to do with a bad foundation, no amount of patching up
is possible. The solution is to pull down the building and, start afresh. If
anything is wrong with the foundation of a skyscraper all the money spent
to put It up will amount to a waste.
My heart trembles each time I think of the problem of destroyed or
faulty foundation among ministers. A lot of things are seriously wrong
with the foundations of ministers of the gospel. I am not the oldest
minister around, but in my little ministerial experience I have seen a lot.
Those who have ministered for close to fifty years have not seen what my
eyes have seen or heard what my ears have heard.
I have seen quite a lot. I have stumbled across mysterious
happenings in the lives of those I have either counseled or prayed for,
over the years. If I tell you some of the things I have seen, heard or
witnessed, you may probably find it difficult to believe me.
I once met a woman who menstruated maggots, every twenty-eight
days. Instead of seeing blood as it is the normal thing for women, she let
out maggot from her private part for some five days every month. I am
sure that there is no scientific explanation for that bizarre experience.

A STRANGE INCIDENT
A man was brought to my office by his wife. His story will make you
develop goose pimples. He decided to patronize a prostitute. Instead of
paying the normal "fees" he decided to short change the prostitute. The
prostitute got infuriated and decided to place a curse on him. She
declared: "So, you don't want to pay me my full money. I will prove to you
that nobody cheats me and gets away with it". The man simply shrugged
his shoulders. But right from that day, his penis began to grow longer and
longer. The elongation never stopped. It got to a stage when his penis
could no longer be kept in his pants. By the time the man was brought to
me, the penis had to be wrapped around his waist like a long rope. Again,
what type of medical or physiological explanation can anyone give
concerning such a strange incident?

THE TALKING PREGNANCY
I was conducting a crusade in South Africa when a pregnant woman
came to me for urgent help. I was surprised when she opened her mouth
and declared: "Man of God, I have a peculiar problem. I am pregnant but
my pregnancy talks! The baby in my womb is speaking in tongues". I
decided to place my ears near the woman's protruded stomach. Strange
enough, someone was speaking a language I could not understand
inside. You may ask: "But how can a baby in the womb speak?" Such are
the deep mysteries of this world.

MYSTERIOUS!
A lady also came to me for help. Her own problem happened to be
more complicated than the ones I have narrated so far. She had the
usual biological features of a normal lady until, one day, a man proposed
marriage to her. She gave the man a positive answer. From that moment,
she experienced a strange phenomenon. She suddenly grew a male
organ close to her female organ. In other words, she had both a penis
and a vagina side by side. She was embarrassed and shocked. She
decided to seek for help. Of course she could not disclose the. fact that
she was a hermaphrodite to just anyone. She knew she was a female.
But how come the sudden growth of a strange male organ!
Someone offered her a piece of advice saying, "You can get rid of the
embarrassing growth if you travel overseas for a surgical operation."
However, a strange thing happened when she was examined by an
experienced surgeon. The doctor had to examine the nature of the
growth before carrying out surgical operations. By the time the doctor
raised the woman's dress there was no male organ anywhere. The male
organ had disappeared. The doctor simply told her: "Sorry, you have no
medical problem. You are every bit normal. I will only refer you to a
psychiatrist. That is the only help you need."
The woman was confused. She got up and left to where she was
residing. By the time she got on the train, she suddenly sensed the return
of the male organ. Behold, she regained the status of a hermaphrodite.
What the surgeon could not detect was fully back to her private part. At
that point she knew that she was a victim of unexplainable mysterious
growth. She had to travel back to her country when she discovered that
no medical help was in sight. She decided to live with her strange
condition.
On a particular day, armed bandits raided her home. After removing
her valuables, one of the robbers decided to rape her. As he was about
to do so, he was shocked when he discovered that the woman had both
male and female organs. He dropped his gun and took to his heels. What
he saw baffled him. It was more than he bargained for.
Indeed, I have seen strange things. In any case, the only way to avoid
seeing strange sights is to avoid solving human problems as a minister.
But if you are going to remain a source of succor to the masses, you will
surely come across strange sights.
Recently, a woman brought her three children to me because they
needed urgent spiritual help. The ages of the children ranged between 12
and 15. However, the strange thing about the three of them was that
each of them had one tooth. The mother marched the three boys into my
office. When I discovered that the three children looked normal physically
I asked the mother to tell me why they were bought for prayer or
deliverance. She simply answered me by asking each of them to open
his mouth. To my surprise, all I saw were gums with one protruding tooth.
The woman pleaded for urgent assistance and I asked to know why
she was bothered by the strange dental arrangement. She narrated a
queer story. "Man of God, I have lived with three strange children. I have
had to change their schools three times. Each time they attend a school,
they place curses on the teachers and the curses stick. In all the three
schools, mysterious things happened to the teachers who offended them
and my little children have been expelled three times as a result's." The
woman pleaded with me to do anything I could in order to help her out.
However, of all the battling incidents, I have come across in the
course of my ministrations, none shook me to my roots more than what
happened some years ago when a seventy year old pastor stormed my
counseling office asking to be rescued from the mess he was involved in.
When the elderly pastor narrated his ordeal I opened my mouth agape.
Here was a man who had been a minister of the gospel for over 50 years.
He had been ministering before most of the present crop of ministers
were ever born. It is, indeed, strange that he fell into the sin of adultery
with a twenty year old girl. At age seventy! With tears streaming down his
wrinkled face, he pleaded passionately for help.
I instructed him to undergo deliverance and it was during the process
that he discovered that being a product of polygamy was bringing his
ministerial career to a shameful end. According to his confession. his
father had fourteen wives and over thirty children. The seeds of polygamy
became a full blown tree. The old pastor's fifty years involvement in the
ministry did not prevent him from suffering shame as a result of
immorality.

SHOCKING!
I was invited to minister in a Church, a few years ago. While
ministering, the Lord gave me a word which I thought was meant for one
person. I said: "There is a lady here. You slept with a minister of God.
Come out and repent now or else something tragic will happen to you
within seven days!" I was closing my eyes. But when I decided to open
my eyes as a result of the massive sounds of movement which I could
hear, I was shocked. I discovered that there were over two hundred
ladies who came out because they were involved in immorality with
pastors.
I got confused as I found it difficult to believe what I saw on that day. I
keep wondering why ministers of the gospel are falling flat on their faces
before the enemy. My heart is disturbed, having seen the fall of the
mighty. I have read church history and I have also heard the sad news of
one mighty man of God after another falling after embarrassing scandals
in contemporary times. Yes, I have seen powerful men of God fall like
young converts.
I got so disturbed that I had to go to the Lord in tears, with disturbing
questions. Several nights were spent in the presence of God in order to
find answers to this nagging problem. As the burden got to a climax. the
book of Jeremiah became my prayer point.
Jeremiah 14:8: O the hope of Israel, saviour there of in time of trouble.
why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man
that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
I bombarded the throne of grace with questions like:
O God, how come You are folding Your arms as if You don't know
what to do?
O God, why are You looking dazed and astonished as if You can't
take any action?
O God, why are You behaving as a stranger in the midst of Your
people?
As I prayed for nights, I discovered that situations could arise which
will make God helpless, There are areas of problem In the life of a
minister that are capable of turning God to a spectator, God will be forced
to fold His hands and watch you go from bad to worse.
When you have the type of problem that can reduce the Almighty to
an onlooker, nobody on earth can keep you.

 CHAPTER FIVE

THE POWER BEHIND MINISTERIAL
SCANDALS

There are questions we must find answers to. Why should a preacher
of holiness fall into sin? Why should a fiery preacher degenerate so low
as to become a slave to immorality? What went wrong with some of
America's finest preachers? Why were they caught in the web of
adultery. fornication and homosexuality?
This reminds me of an international preacher who held crusade
audiences spell bound with his captivating messages. He can sing and
inspire you to shed tears as he takes you to the highest level of worship.
Before he fell, he was everywhere preaching powerfully and declaring the
truth of God's word. He was reputed to have the ability to preach to a dog
and make it forgo its dinner. Little did people know that after conducting
crusades every night he would go back to his hotel room and pay a
whore to strip naked for him.
If you are shocked by the example given above, what about the story
of a man of God who saw heaven at age fourteen. His spectacular vision
was documented in his book. The book has changed many lives. He did
not stop there. He also authored a list of best sellers. His Bible school
was rated as one of the best Bible schools in the Pentecostal tradition.
Perhaps, if he had been caught in fornication the public would have
forgiven him. People were shocked when it was revealed that he was
involved in homosexuality; having immorality with his youth pastor! Why
did a powerful revivalist descend so low as to have immorality with a
fellow man? What went wrong?

A LOCAL SCANDAL
If the examples of frontline American preachers appear remote, let me
share the sad story of one of Nigeria's most anointed prophets with you.
Of course, the name may not ring a bell except you are a researcher or a
serious student of Pentecostalism in Nigeria. Prophet Omotunde held
sway as one of the founding fathers of Pentecostalism in the thirties. He
ministered in an unprecedented manner between 1930-1950.
Prophet Omotunde was so anointed and gifted that the respected
apostle, J. A Babalola called him "Master". Omotunde was so highly
anointed that you could only attend his crusade and go home with your
sickness if he was not able to make body contact with you. He could
spend several hours praying for the sick and the afflicted. He often
prayed to a point he had to be carried away from the crusade field as a
result of physical exhaustion.
In those days, Omotunde would lay hands on a mad fellow, and a live
lizard would jump out. Of course, the man would become sane instantly.
Years later, Omotunde went deep Into the world and lost his ministry. By
the time .he died, there was neither a believer nor a pastor at his burial.
He died a chronic sinner and backslider!

A PERTINENT QUESTION
Why should anyone attain great heights spiritually and crash
shamefully? Do you know that if a lizard falls from a skyscraper it will
survive? But if an elephant falls from the same height it will scatter to
pieces and the news will hit the headlines!
The devil is not interested in seeing lizards fall from great heights.
What catches the fancy of the devil is the crash of elephants! The devil
will rather trail a powerful man of God for twenty years and wait patiently
until he crashes than witness the fall of one hundred ordinary people in
one day. My prayer for you is that the powers that are pursuing your
ministerial destiny shall be disgraced and destroyed in Jesus name!
Why should ministers of the gospel who have tasted of the powers of
God become suddenly lukewarm and fall from such a great height?

EMPTY BARRELS?
Recently I was invited as guest speaker to an international Christian
conference. There were participants and dignitaries from all over the
world. Major continents of the world were represented. The unique thing
about the conference was that there was a high table which seated
celebrities and VIP's. Each dignitary on the high table was introduced
impressively and given rounds of applause. The introduction was so
intimidating that I felt I was the only ordinary person on the high table. I
knew that I was given a place on the high table because I was the guest
speaker.
When I was called upon to preach, the Lord gave me a strange
message: "Son, there is an homosexual on this table. If he does not
repent, my angel will strike him dead," I struggled with the message. I
wondered how I could pass such a prophetic message in an international
Christian conference of that calibre. I tried to argue with the Lord. "lord,
you know that this type of message is hard to deliver? Who will believe
me?" The Lord said" "Son, you'd better deliver the message fast!"
I knew that I had no option than to obey. So, I declared "There is
someone here on the high table. You are a homosexual. The Lord will
strike you dead if you fail to repent". There was pin drop silence
everywhere. I started with the opening prayer which I tried to make fairly
long just in case they would order me to be marched away from the
pulpit. As I prayed, I heard movements, dragging of chairs at the high
table and shuffling of feet. By the time I concluded the opening prayers
and opened my eyes, there was not a single soul on the high table
except me. The high and the mighty had deserted the table!
I wondered why in spite of the Christian credentials and impressive
secular records the people who were honored and placed on the high
table, were all homosexuals or lesbians. In a Christian gathering? I was
shocked to the marrows. Why should believers who are respected
descend so low as to continue to practise homosexuality or lesbianism?
May God deliver us!

A SCANDALOUS DEMOTION
I knew a church in England when I was doing my doctorate degree.
The church was almost dead until a black bus driver took over. He came
in with unusual zeal and commitment to evangelism. A wave of revival
blew into the church and there were great transformations.
The bus driver became a mighty instrument in the hand of God. The
church grew by leaps and bounds. Within a short time, the church
became an international Christian centre. A lot of money came into the
church and the bus-driver-turned preacher was riding one of the most
expensive cars in the United Kingdom. The bus driver's wife and
daughters also became pastors in the church. The church secured a
unique place on the map of the world.
More than 15 years later, a can of worms was opened. Five ladies
showed up leveling allegations of rape against the pastor. It became a
scandal. The case came up in the court. Initially, the pastor thought it was
a joke and felt that he would escape being put behind bars. The judge
came up with a judgment; the church was closed down and the pastor
was sentenced to serve a jail term. Clause was added to" the jail term:
The" pastor was barred from counselling ladies in his life time even when
he is out of jail. That was how the devil succeeded in sending the black
preacher back to square one. What a diversion of destiny!!
I got so disturbed in view of the multiplicity of scandalous episodes in
the ministry that I prayed until the Lord showed me the panacea for this
hydra-headed problem in christendom. The Lord spoke to me saying;
Son, pastors and ministers need foundational deliverance.

 CHAPTER SIX

FOUNDATIONAL DELIVERANCE
AND YOUR MINISTRY

The most crucial area where deliverance Is needed is the area of

foundational deliverance. No matter what your official title is, you need
foundational deliverance.
You have a foundation. You did not drop from the sky. You have
ancestors who worshipped idols, got involved In ritual killings, served as
priests and priestesses, drank human blood and parents who were
cursed.
You cannot ignore your foundation. An Idolatrous foundation cannot
produce a successful ministry. You must make definite efforts towards
deleting your name from the list of offsprings whose future have been
consecrated to the gods of the land. You must pray definite foundation
cleansing prayers. If you never went through foundational deliverance,
you have a long way to go. As far as ministerial success or fulfilment is.
concerned, you need to thoroughly go through foundational deliverance
as a minister.

THE UGLY FOUNDATION
If you are a black man living or ministering in Africa, or if you are one
of the blacks in the diaspora, you need foundational deliverance. You do
not need to copy ministers from the Western world. European and
American ministers do not have our kind of background. They are
products of generations of revivals. For over one hundred years they
have been exposed to Christianity. The worship of idols, and
performance of rituals and sacrifices are not in their ancestral past.
Even if your own parents are no longer worshipping idols, it is likely
that someone in the extended family is busy offering sacrifices to idols on
your behalf. Only God knows how many things your relatives are doing in
hidden shrines in the name of trying to protect you. Of course, you have
not sent anyone to appease the gods of the land for you, but they are
carrying out such rituals due to spiritual blindness or ignorance. If God
should open your eyes, you would be amazed at the terrible things in
your foundation.

A SPIRITUAL SURVEY
Nobody is disputing the fact that you are a pastor or a minister. The
fact we are emphasizing is that your foundation was built upon the
platform of idolatry. Unless the effect of your idolatrous past is dealt with,
you cannot experience enduring ministerial success. You may be
carrying out your ministerial assignment in an urban area, but there is
surely an old man in your village or place of birth trying to table your
matter before the local priest or priestess.
The truth is that you cannot divorce your present ministerial work from
your foundation or background. Let us examine this scenario. Imagine a
pastor whose father is the head of the most powerful cult in the village.
The mother happens to be a powerful witch. As if that is not enough, the
grandfather happened to be such an adept that if he dived into the river
he would come out of it with both body and dresses dry.
How can your grandfather possess such mysterious powers and you
would not need any form of deliverance from foundational bondage? How
can you think of becoming a pastor and the power of your father's house
will let you operate without any hindrance?
In the Old Testament a good number of people suffered the
consequences of foundational bondage without knowing that the attacks
they experienced were factored by ancestral powers. When Job suffered
virulent attacks, he felt that God was behind his travails. Little did he
know that a spiritual drama had taken place before the strings of attacks
came.
The devil came to challenge God and to announce his plans towards
attacking Job and his family. Job was oblivious of the fact that there was
a personality, behind his travails. However in the New Testament, Jesus
unveiled the secrets behind fundamental bondage and makes us to see
the enemy behind our travails.
In the Old Testament, the devil was able to masquerade and destroy
his victim's lives through manipulation as it was in the case of Job. But
Jesus came and revealed the truths of spiritual warfare. When Jesus
said, "An enemy, has done this", He was making it crystal clear that the
devil is both the mastermind and the executor of many spiritual coup
de'etats.
Unless you gain insight into the satanic angle of the problems you are
passing through as a minister, you will continue to move from one place
to another looking for help without anyone in sight. If you need
foundational deliverance and you fail to go for it, you will be bombarded
by a lot of problems. Ministers who fail to seek and obtain deliverance
from foundational bondage will run from pillar to post being pursued by
problems.

 CHAPTER SEVEN

THE MYSTERY OF INHERITED
BONDAGE IN MINISTRY

To unravel the mystery of inherited bondage in ministry, we shall

undertake a case study of the antecedents to Moses' birth and examine
how they affected his service for God. Moses had his problems but his
foundation happened to be the determinant factors as far as his failures
were concerned. Moses received an uncommon commission from the
Lord but failed when it mattered most. A lot of Bible scholars have
studied Moses's ministry but most of these scholars often opined that
Moses ministry began when God called him. Thus, they have ignored his
birth and the event that took place before he had an encounter with God
at the burning bush that was not consumed.
Do you know that the most important moment In Moses life was not
when God called him? The incidents which surrounded his birth and his
growth were the foundations of his eventual-life. The devil started his
attack against Moses when nobody knows that Moses would one day
become a mighty instrument In the hand of God.
Many modern day ministers have not taken time to mediate on the
events that took place before God opened the chapter of ministerial
assignments in their lives. Most of the time, the devil would rather plant
the seed of bondage when nobody is thinking of the potentialities for
future greatness.
The power of a faulty foundation cannot be over emphasized. You are
a product of your past. Your foundation determines the ceiling of your
ministry. Moses had excellent credentials but failed 1n a monumental
manner. Moses represents the best a man can be. His life teaches us an
unforgettable lesson. In all, we discover that great ministers who are
specially endowed may fail woefully at certain stages of their ministry.
A cursory study of Moses' ministry reveals that unusual talents, great
learning and erudition can not prevent the enemy from attacking you, If
there are loop holes in your foundation. It is unfortunate that history
repeat itself in diverse negative ways. Many of us have read about. the
life and times of Moses but a lot of people are still falling into the same pit
which he fell into.
We see Moses as a great leader but overlook his great faults. We are
carried away by his exploit while we ignore his failure. We celebrate his
exceptional qualities and forget areas of his bondage. We love to emulate
his ideals while we are quick to forget the pitfalls In his ministry. We
cherish being specially called of God like Moses while we gloss over the
.fact that right from his birth, he struggled with rejection, bondage,
tragedies and other negative experiences.
One question we have also failed to ask is: why did Moses end his
ministerial career in failure in spite of the fact that he was one man who
held the generation spell bound. To appreciate this fact, we must avoid
falling into the same mistake. We shall take an incisive look at the plus
factors in Moses' life and examine the minuses which made his life a
casualty at the end of the day.
Moses led a particularly fascinating life. In fact, what the Bible says
about him stands out. According to Exodus 33:11, he spoke to God face
to face and was the one who communicated God's word to the people.
No other prophet ever had the same privilege.
Moses was a prince in Egypt and John 1:17 tells us that the law came
through him. Numbers 12:3 also tells us that he was more humble than
anyone else.
He also wrote some of the Psalms in the Bible. He was also a
historian who wrote Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and
Numbers.
Indeed, Moses was a prophet like no other prophet, yet he was a child
of a slave. He was born in a hut but lived in a palace. He inherited
poverty but as an adopted son of a queen he enjoyed unlimited wealth in
the palace. He was a leader of armies and according to the Bible; this
great warrior was at the same time a meek man.
I have decided to take you through the story of Moses so that we can
pick up salient lessons from it. He was educated in the court of Pharaoh
and had what we call the wisdom of Egypt.
Moses was a man fitted for the city but he also wandered about in the
wilderness. His heart was tempted by the pleasure of state but he
endured hardship as he lived with the people of God. He was a fellow
who was deficient in speech, yet he talked to God. He stammered when
he faced fellow mortals but when he faced his maker he was something
totally different. He had the rod of a shepherd in his hand and also had
another rod with which he defeated Pharaoh and wrested the whole of
the kingdom of Egypt from his hand. In the process, he became like a
god unto Pharaoh.
Moses ran away from Pharaoh but came back stronger. Despite his
fascinating credentials, he died a solitary death on Moab and was buried
by God himself. Before he got to this point, things had begun to go
wrong. What went wrong may be difficult to understand but I will explain:
In Psalms 106: 32-33 the Bible says,
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with
Moses for their sake: because they provoked his spirit. so that he spoke
inadvisedly with his lips.
The problem with Moses was foundational bondage. He was born
under the sentence of death, at a time Pharaoh was killing babies. This
made Moses start his life under cover for three months. How would you
hide a baby for three months without lying, deception and under
coverups? All these were done in the attempt to prevent Moses from
screaming or crying, lest he be discovered.
When the mother could no longer hide him, she had to bring him out.
And she put him on the River Nile which was a god in Egypt. The
daughter of Pharaoh and others were not just going to bathe in that river,
they were worshipping the river. Idolatory was entrenched in River Nile.
The name of Moses was not given to him by God but by Pharaoh's
daughter. This may be a good place to start. Who gave you your own
name? And what was at the back of the mind of the person? That name
may affect your life.
Moses means a man drawn out of water. You know that of all the
three strongholds Christians battle against, the one underneath the earth,
that is, water spirit, is the lost stubborn to deal with, simply because there
is water above and below, human beings are at the centre. The other
strongholds are the earth and the heavenlies.
The bondage of Moses started with the sentence of death hanging
over his head. This was complicated by the fact that at the same, river
where babies were being killed was where his mother took him, placing
him in an ark and surrounding him with kind of plants that would not allow
him to be eaten by crocodiles. When Moses was rescued from there, he
ended up in the palace of Pharaoh.
Now, the chief spiritual head of Africa is Egypt. Egypt had learnt to
draw power from the sun, the moon and the stars before the rest of us.
Egypt had what we call obelisk, something like a male organ pointing to
the sky and drawing power from the sun. And Egypt had the pyramids
and other strange landmarks and monuments.
According to Acts 7:22
Acts 7:22: And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians,
and was mighty in words and in deeds.
Mind you, this was not the wisdom of Israel. It was the wisdom of
Egyptians which represented foundational problems for Moses without
him knowing it.
Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. What is the
wisdom of the Egyptians? These are Egyptian mummies, jewellery (used
to demonize and control), architecture, the obelisk, embalming the dead,
astronomy, engineering, the pyramid and the magic. Pharaoh had
magicians in his palace whom he paid salaries, This was the kind of
environment in which Moses grew up. He would not have overcome the
Egyptians if he had not understood their wisdom.
Moses had a terrible childhood because of all these circumstances
that surrounded his birth. He spent 40 years in the palace before going to
spend another to be prepared for the task of delivering God's people.
Immediately he took up God's assignment, he began to attack the idols
that he himself knew very well. He turned water into blood, which was a
battle against River Nile. Bringing forth the frogs was an attack against
the frog god that became Hekas. Calling forth the lice was an attack
against the gods of the earth, which the Egyptians used to call Gebs.
Calling forth the flies was an attack against the god of beetle or flies,
which they called Keppala.
Everything that Moses did was to disgrace the Egyptian gods. I have
said these things so that we can have an idea of how an environment can
have impact on one's life. This means that apart from what enters into
one, the environment where one grows up can contribute to what
becomes of one's ministry.
The troubles of Moses began when he killed an Egyptian. God did not
ask him to kill anyone. This provided another foundational bondage for
him. After killing the Egyptian, he ran away. When he went to talk with
God, God wrote the law in a table of stone and handed to him. God wrote
with the same hand that wrote on the wall in the book of Daniel. When
Moses came back with the table of stone and saw what the people were
doing, in anger he threw the table down and smashed it into pieces. Not
only that, he took the golden calf, ground it into powder, put it in water
and forced all the people to drink, thereby killing the people he was
supposed to bring out of freedom.
When God asked Moses to speak to the rock to bring forth water, out
of annoyance he 'struck the rock with his rod, not knowing that the rock
was Christ. It was his foundational bondage that made him to strike the
rock instead of speaking to it. His case represented that of a deliverer
that needed deliverance 'himself. After sweating for 40 years to take a
people to the Promised Land, he got to the edge of it only to be denied
entry into the place. That was how his foundational bondage finally
manifested.
Beneath the fascinating details of Moses' spectacular ministry lies the
ugly dregs of his foundational bondage. Beyond his larger than life
posture are the scarry details of the cracks in the wall of his life and
ministry. Don't ever allow initial ministerial success to make you blind to
the weaknesses in your foundation. This is something to ponder on.

 CHAPTER EIGHT

MINISTERIAL CASUALTIES

How can we detect the evidences of lack of foundational deliverance?

Let us examine common problems that are found in the lives of those
who fail to obtain deliverance from foundational bondage.

1. Multiplication of problems.
To have one problem as a minister is bad enough. To have multiple
problems is worse. Show me a minister who has not obtained
deliverance from foundational bondage and I will show you a minister
whose life attracts multiple problems. Such a minister will spend his
energy, time and resources battling with problems rather than get
meaningfully involved in the work of the ministry.
If your life has continued to magnetise problems it shows that you
have not been set free from foundational bondage. Ministers who fall into
this category will have financial problems, family problems, health
problems, spiritual problems and ministerial problems at the same time.
Such a minister will have the type of problems that cannot be found in the
lives of ordinary members of the church.
When one problem is solved, three or more will emerge at the same
time. The fact that the minister is involved in God's service will not reduce
the avalanche of problems that are being hauled at him. It is just that
such ministers would manage to keep some of the problems under cover.
Such people are hardly ever able to fulfill their ministerial destiny.

SATAN ON THE PROWL
Multiple problems will end up making a shipwreck of a pastor's
ministerial destiny when nothing is done about deliverance from
foundational bondage. If such ministers are expected to serve the Lord
for twenty or thirty years, the productive years may never amount to
move than a year or two. They generally move from one problem to
another and they are left with no time for real Christian service.
If you fall into this category, you may not have time to develop your
ministry. Even when God has endowed you with spiritual, gifts multiple
problems will make you feel as if you don't have a single gift. Your
spouse will create lots of problems, your in-laws will trouble you sore and
nothing works simply because you have not dealt with your foundation.

SATANIC ELDERS
There was a minister who had multiple problems because he did not
address his foundation. He started his ministry on a good note. The
Church grew. By the time he could no longer cope with the explosion, he
decided to appoint some elders. However, the elders became so
powerful, that he could no longer control them. Having enjoyed the
trappings of ministerial leadership, they decided to come together and
sack the General Overseer.
They invited the G.O. to an emergency meeting in which they
announced their intention to compel him to resign from active leadership.
Strange enough, the G.O. was only 32 years old at that time. He
wondered why they should decide to force him to retire. He grew angry in
the Spirit and declared "Since I am the one the Lord used to appoint you
as elders, I revoke the appointment in the name of the Father, in the
name of the Son and in the name of the Holy Ghost" "No it is impossible.
We reject the cancellation of our appointment in the name of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Ghost" chorused the elders in response.

ANOTHER SATANIC ARRACK
 There was an open fight between the elder and the G.O. That was
how the church collapsed. The pastor decided to start afresh. He left for
another city and began a new church. The church grew and things were
moving on fine.
Tragedy struck when he decided to conduct water baptism for some
of the young converts. The first baptismal candidate happened to be a
pregnant woman. By the time he dipped the woman under water, the
woman slipped off his hands and disappeared into the water. The pastor
made frantic efforts but the pregnant woman was gone.
The other baptismal candidates grew restive and decided to confront
the man of God believing that he had a hand in what happened to the
pregnant woman. They unanimously agreed to call the police. The pastor
was arrested. The episode marked the end of his attempt to start a
church in that city.

THE EVIL DEDICATION
After the two ordeals, he made yet a third attempt to start a church. As
soon as the church got underway and members were flocking in, the
pastor got: involved in a terrible scandal. He committed immorality with
his driver's wife and she got pregnant. Hell was let loose.
It was at that point that he came for counseling and prayers. When he
came, we asked him, "Why did all these happen to you?" We probed
further. "What does your father do for a living?" His answer was
revealing. "My father is the head of all the fetish priests in our village".
We told him, "Your father has covenanted you. He has dedicated you to
several idols. Those dedications are now speaking against you".

THE POWER OF DEDICATION
Many of us, today, undermine the power of dedication. When you
dedicate something to an idol, the idol will exercise legal and spiritual
rights over what is dedicated. Again, when you dedicate something to
God, God will defend His glory and name: If anyone dares touch who or
what has been dedicated, God will deal squarely with the trespasser.
When Jacob came to Bethel and said 'This is the house of God', and
he built .and dedicated an altar to God, God took charge. By the time
Jeroboam became king he put an altar in Dan and Bethel. God did not
contest for Dan because that place was not dedicated to Him. God
contested for Bethel. By the time Jeroboam started sacrificing in Bethel;
the prophet from Judah turned up and commanded the altar to be broken
to pieces. God defended His interest.
Also if a child is named Isaac by his parents, such u child has no
choice but to serve God. If you are dedicated to idols, the power behind
the idols will not allow you to fulfill your ministry.
If you happen to be the first pastor in your family line, you have to
pray like a mad prophet if you must fulfill your ministry.

2. The enemy will organize a conference in order
to deal with you.
The purpose of the conference is to demonstrate their anger. They will
wonder why someone who was previously in their camp can decide to
fight against them without severing the ties that once existed. The enemy
will give you a hard fight. You will be bombarded by hostile powers from
the north, south, east and west. You will fight battles in the morning,
afternoon and evening. Even when you are asleep, during the hours of
the night, it will be battles galore.
When you come across a minister who is facing intense battles, you
can be sure that such a minister is being bombarded by a conference of
hostile forces. Many ministers wonder why they live their ministerial lives
as if thy are at the eye of the storm. They fight battles from dawn to dusk
without respite.

A DEADLY TRAP
One minister that I knew suffered the kind of battles that I am
describing in this section. He was posted to a branch of his church. I
didn't know what went wrong with the pastor. Instead of facing his
ministerial assignment, he decided to have a strange affair with a young
lady in the church. He carried the satanic assignment given to him too far
by letting the whole church know that an affair was going on between him
and the young lady.
If he bought native wears for himself he would buy the same for the
young lady. To make matters worse, both the pastor and the lady would
dress the same way to church.
Word soon got to the pastor's wife. The fact that the pastor's wife was
not quite broken or sanctified aggravated the volatile situation. She
decided that she would do anything to teach the two love birds a lesson.
She watched carefully and traced both of them to one of the services.
She became infuriated when she discovered that both of them were
actually dressed in the same material. She rushed to the pulpit, picked up
the bell and with her fists clenched she banged the bell on the forehead
of her husband and he collapsed. The woman rushed to the lady, gave
her thorough beating and tore her dress. That was how the enemy
disgraced the pastor who would have had a wonderful ministry.
The situation forced the pastor to undergo deliverance. It was in that
process that he discovered that he came from a very terrible family. One
of the common features of his family line was that on a regular basis,
family members would disappear and there would be no trace whether
the person was dead or alive. The pastor had to go through foundational
deliverance when he discovered that his background was terrible.

3. Increase of Internal Warfare.
Whenever you fall to go for deliverance from Internal bondage, you
will experience an Increase In the area of internal warfare. One of the
toughest battles to win is the battle of internal or Civil warfare. You can
fight external battles and win but it is difficult to deal with internal
enemies.

 When you contend with internal enemies you will find it difficult to
emerge victorious in the battles of life. A minister who has myriads of
internal foes. to deal with would end up a loser. The shortest route to the
land of failure is the highway of increased internal warfare.

EVIL BIRDS ON RAMPAGE
One of the greatest evangelists in the South Western part of Nigeria
happened to be Paul Akinbobola. Before he gave his life to Christ he
belonged to virtually every known cult in Nigeria. He had swallowed
terrible things before he gave his life to Christ.
He surrendered himself for deliverance. However, in the course of
deliverance, he had completely forgotten that he had swallowed lots of
satanic birds while he served the devil. While he was going through
deliverance, the evil birds were busy pecking at his Intestine. Whenever
Paul Akinbobola prayed aggressively, the evil birds would get agitated
and peck at his intestine. He had to be rushed to the hospital and most of
his intestine had to be cut off at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Rather than just resort to praying, go for total deliverance and internal
warfare will cease.

4. It will lead to ministerial failure.
Ministerial failure is inevitable for ministers who neglect deliverance
from foundational bondage. Such ministers will try itinerant ministry and
fail. If they venture into the prophetic ministry they will fall. If they try the
pastoral line the entire flock will scatter. If they are appointed as
administrators their tenure will be characterized by scandalous failure.
Send such ministers to a town where there is revival, the fire of revival
would be doused.
At the end of the day. the word failure would be boldly written at the
end of their ministerial career. You cannot start with a demonic
foundation and become a successful minister without working seriously
on your foundation.

 If you have discovered that your ministerial steps are trailed by failure
it is an indication of the fact that you have neglected deliverance from
foundational bondage.

5. Mockery by the enemy.
It is indeed shameful that many pastors and ministers have allowed
unbelievers to mock Christianity. When the ministry loses its glory and
dignity, unbelievers will continue to mock the God whom we serve. The
absence of foundational deliverance will lead to the mockery of the
gospel.
The enemy will ensure that ministers commit blunders that will make
the world to mock us.
Nowadays, the world has continued to cast aspersions on the
ministry. So much failure has been recorded that people now think that
the ministerial calling is reserved for nonentities and never-do-wells.
Oftentimes, when a woman goes to tell her parents that she has found a
man to marry and he happens to be a pastor, the parents laugh as if
getting married to a pastor is the worst thing that can happen to a
woman.
Do not allow the enemy to mock you. It is my deepest prayer for you
that any power standing by to mock you shall be disgraced in the name
of Jesus.

6. Transfer of Yokes.
Whenever deliverance is supposed to be done and it is avoided, there
will be an inevitable transfer of yokes. When such a minister tries to pray
for or conduct deliverance for people the yokes in their lives will
automatically become transferred to his own life. Since there is a lot of
problem in the foundation of such a pastor, any attempt to minister to
others will bounce back and it will lead to a multiplication of yokes.
Let me give you a practical illustration. The young prophet who prayed
for Jeroboam in the Bible invited complicated problems into his life. When
the young prophet spoke and the altar got split into two, the king became
paralysed as he attempted to fight against the anointing of God.
The king made an appeal for the restoration of his hand. If that
prophet had not prayed, king Jeroboam would have been left with no
option than to go through the length and breadth of the land with a
paralysed hand. This would have made the whole nation to fear God and
shun Idolatry. Mistakenly, the young prophet prayed and the king's hand
got restored but the young prophet ended up paying dearly for it.

DIVINE JUDGEMENT
Several years ago, a particular king met his waterloo because he
formed the habit of mocking Christianity. He hated Christianity with a
perfect hatred.
At the slightest provocation. he would make jest of the word of God,
the Bible and the God whom the Christians serve. He specifically stated
that he would wipe out the name of the Lord from his domain.
On a particular day, he was busy deriding Christians and Christianity
when an anointed man of God called him to order arid told him to stop
the blasphemy or be dealt with instantly. The king continued using
Infamous words against the name of the Lord. The. man of God declared
"I command your right hand and leg to become paralysed instantly as
punishment for blaspheming the name of the Lord."
The king went into an endless session of derisive laughter since there
was no instant evidence of paralysis. The king continued his
blasphemous words. A few hours later, when he was about entering his
car, he discovered that both his right hand and leg were paralysed. The
most powerful fetish priest and occult masters were summoned. The
paralysis remained.
Somehow, the king was told that there is a particular pastor in Lagos
who could pray and make him regain the use of his right hand and leg. In
his desperation he sent for the man of God. Unfortunately, the pastor did
not ask the Lord if he should travel to the domain of the king and pray for
him.
The pastor prayed for the king and the paralysed hand and leg were
restored on Saturday. But by the following Monday, we were conducting
the burial ceremony of the pastor. There was an evil exchange. The king
lost his paralysis but the pastor met his death. The life of the pastor
would obviously have been spared if he had not prayed for a king who
was under divine judgment.
This kind of experience is common with those yet to be free from
foundational bondage. The truth is that the enemy cannot come against
you and succeed without an open door in your life.

7. Untimely death.
You stand the risk of untimely death If you have seen the need for
foundational deliverance but refused to go for it. If you read the
newspapers you will discover that pastors and ministers occupy the
obituary pages. Pastors are now dying between ages 30 and 40.
Untimely death has become a common feature in ministerial circles.
A fellow minister informed me recently that he had just buried one of
the pastors under him. When I asked to know. the. age of the pastor who
died, I was shocked when my friend told me that the pastor died at age
26.
Untimely death is a product of foundational bondage.

8. Prayer Burial
If you need deliverance from foundational bondage but refuse to go
for it, you will experience what I have termed prayer burial. You will be
busy praying night and day but will discover that your prayers are not
going beyond the ceiling. Whenever you pray for others, God in His
mercy will grant you an answer. God may also answer such prayers
when His glory is at stake. But when you cry to God in your closet for
your personal needs, your prayer will hit the ceiling and bounce back.
 The problem of unanswered prayers can be traced to foundational
bondage. If you are a minister and there are no testimonies to show for
your prayer efforts, you need to go for deliverance.
One of the ways God proves Himself in the life of His servants is
through instant answers to prayers. Failure at the altar of prayer, when
found as a common feature in the life of a minister of God shows that the
pastor in question is yet to experience deliverance from foundational
bondage.

9. Family Attack
If you fail to go for foundational deliverance, you will continue to
experience family attacks. The enemy will continue to attack your family
even when you make desperate efforts to have a happy home.

 CHAPTER NINE

THE EVIL TREND

The issue of foundational deliverance is so crucial to the success of

the ministry that nobody succeeds In ministry when it is neglected. I got
so disturbed by the rate of failure among ministers of the gospel that I
decided to carry out a research.
I have been on the research for some 30 years and so far I have
studied the lives of 500 ministers who failed or experienced ugly
tragedies in ministry. These pastors were disgraced or dismissed out of
ministry:
Although the research is far from being concluded, I have decided to
share some of our findings in this chapter. I have discovered that there is
a strong link between your foundation and your destiny. In other words,
your foundation determines your destiny. If nobody has ever prospered in
your family, you must break all foundational yokes before the
commencement of your ministry.

SPIRITUAL RESEARCH RESULTS
The table below contains tested and proven scientific data. It is the
result of painstaking research undertaken by me when I discovered that a
lot of things were going wrong with ministers of the gospel.

Several years ago a minister from a Pentecostal church came for

help. From his looks I could detect that he came to me with a serious
burden. He opened his mouth and narrated his plight. "Man of God I have
a serious problem. Your message titled Spiritual Check Up has touched
my life. I easily get touched by fiery messages like yours. I am a pastor
but I am under serious bondage."
He paused with tears In his eyes and brought out cigarettes from his
pocket. I was so shocked that I asked, "Pastor, do you smoke
cigarettes?" "Yes", he declared. "I don't know what is wrong with me. I
have just discovered I am addicted to smoking. No matter how serious a
prayer session is, I always find myself craving for a stick of cigarette. I
always remain restless until the urge for smoking is satisfied".
I became curious and decided to probe further "Please, tell me more
about your background," I said. Then he made this confession to me. "My
father is a snake charmer, while my mother happens to be the chief
priestess of the most powerful marine idol in our village. My father is so
powerful that, if anybody is bitten by a snake, he would chant
incantations and the poison would come out of the victim's body".
Nobody can go into the ministry with such a background and succeed.
The son of a snake charmer and a priestess would, no doubt, be
dedicated to idols. Such a person cannot become a pastor and fulfil his
ministry without harassment by demonic powers.

GIDEON'S ORDEALS
Gideon is a fitting example. Before he could commence the
assignment given to him by God; he had to destroy the altars of the idols
of his father's house. If God has called you to His service, you can only
succeed in the ministry if you deal squarely with foundational bondage.
 The act of destroying the altars of the idols was not, the end of the
story. The idols must have staged a counter attack. By the time Gideon
pulled down the altar of the idols, he was righteous and had only one
wife. He challenged the gods of the land, got them infuriated and
became, a victim of terrible attacks.
Forty years later, Gideon's story had gone from glory to shame. He fell
from grace to grass. He married many wives and had seventy children.
As if that was not enough. he took up a concubine who gave birth to one
child for him.
The concubine's child slaughtered all t e other children Gideon had.
Eventually, Gideon found him self back to the poverty from which God
had taken him. This is an example of what failure to obtain foundational
deliverance can do. The damage can be devastating.

MOSES' ORDEALS
Of all the prophets sent to planet earth by God, none is as great as
Moses. Moses Was a deliverer, a mouth piece of the Almighty, a law
giver and a man who had the rare privilege of seeing God face to face.
Nevertheless. he is one person who suffered the consequences of lack of
foundational, deliverance.
Moses spoke to God face to face and had intimate moments in His
presence. The regular presence Moses had before God and the fact that
he was highly anointed, did not prevent him from being attacked by the
powers of his father's house. Although Moses was the meekest man on
the face of the earth, he was not free from anger. He inherited violent
temper from his fore father, Levi.
Levi was a violent person who killed a man in his anger.
Gen 49:5-7: Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in
their habitations. O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their
assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a
man, and in their self will they digged down a wall. Cursed be their anger,
for it was fierce; and their wrath. for it was cruel: I will divide them in
Jacob and scatter them in Israel.
Levi was under a curse being an embodiment of anger and self will.
Unfortunately, Moses came from a lineage where anger flowed in the
blood of the people. The anger was passed on to Moses. To make the
matter worse both Moses' father and mother came from the same
lineage.
Ex 2:1-2: And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a
daughter of Levi. And the woman conceive, and bare as on: and when
she saw him that he was a goodly Child, she hid him three months.
There was an ancestral curse upon Levi. This was passed to Amram,
Moses' father. Moses inherited the curse from Amram, his father.
Num 26:5: Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: the children of Reuben;
Hanoch, of whom cometh the family of the Hanochites: of Pallu. the
family of the Palluites:
Although Moses became an exceptional minister and instrument in
the hands of God, anger and self will stayed with him in his ministry.
Strange enough, he had I followed the foot steps of his ancestors
before he received the call of God. According to Gen.49:6 Levi, Moses
ancestors committed manslaughter.
Gen 49:8: 0 my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their
assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a
man, and in their self will they digged down a wall.
The same fierce .anger welled. up from Moses 'heart' in Exodus 2:1:1,
12.
Ex 2:11-12:And It came to pass In those days. when Moses was grown.
that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he
spied an Egyptian smiting Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked
this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew
the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Moses slew an Egyptian when he was angered by the assault on his
countryman. There are communities iii many countries where anger is
prevalent. Some people keep matchets under their beds and would kill
with impunity at the slightest provocation.
What the Egyptian did was wrong. But since Moses haboured fierce
anger in his heart, he killed the victim like a fowl. This weak spot
remained with Moses forty years after he committed the murder.
Unless you undergo deliverance from foundational bondage, an old
problem can rear up its ugly head even after fifty years: The devil knows
your ancestral history. He is never in a hurry. He can wait for forty years
and he will keep on trying all kinds of formulas until he has captured his
victim.

DEMONIC ANGER
Moses was derailed by the power of his father's house. He got angry
even while he was on active service for the Lord. A lot of ministers have
made terrible blunders in ministry because they are pursued by the
powers of their father's houses. Moses was given a simple instruction. He
was told to speak to the rock.
Num 20:7-8: And the LORD spake unto Moses saying. Take the rod and
gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and
speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water,
and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give
the congregation and their beasts drink.
The children of Israel provoked Moses. He erupted with fierce anger.
Rather than speak to the rock, he smote it twice; a clear violation of the
divine command.
Num 20:10-11: And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation
together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels;
must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand,
and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out
abundantly, and the congregation drank. and their beasts also.
You may ask, what prompted Moses to act contrary to God's
instruction? The spirit of anger which resided in his heart was provoked.
Pa 106:2, 33: Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can
show forth all his praise? Because they provoked his spirit. so that he
spake unadvisedly with his lips.
The devil knows the weakness of your ancestral tine. He will always
target his provocation at your area of vulnerability. Satan keeps his joker
for the best moment. He will bring it out when it matters most. But if you
have been fully delivered from foundational bondage, he will not be able
to catch you.
If the anointing of anger could flow from Moses,' ancestors to him,
negative family an9inting can destroy the ministry of any minister. Moses
was barred from getting to the Promised Land. Foundational bondage or
inherited trouble can keep you away from your Promised Land.

DAVID'S EXAMPLE
David is another character we must pay attention to; His lineage also
suffered the consequences of ancestral bondage. Rather than go to war,
David relaxed, on the palace roof. He fed his depraved heart with the
sight of a naked woman who was having her bath. He ended up with
adultery and murder.
2 Sam 11:1-4: And It came to pass. after the year was expired, at the
time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants
with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and
besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. And it came to
pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked
upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman
washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And
David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said. Is not this Bath-
sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David
sent messengers, and took her: and she came in unto him, and he lay
with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned
unto her house.

 The Incident described above is still causing trouble in Israel today.
God told David:
2 Sam 12:9-12: Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the
LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the
sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife. and hast slain him with the
sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never
depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken
the Wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I
will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy
wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall
lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I
will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

SOLOMON'S EXPERIENCE
The anointing of immorality was passed from David to Solomon. The
anointing was crowned when Solomon was enthroned. Solomon became
king and broke all existing records in the area of marriage. He had seven
hundred wives and' three hundred concubines. In other words, any of his
wives would have to wait for two years before she could have Solomon
enter her bedroom.
At the end of the day, Solomon relocated himself to the land of
poverty. His staggering record in the area of accumulating wives made
him poor when he was not to have a taste of poverty all his life. He
married so many wives that his personal resources as well as those of
the nation got frittered away. By the time he had reigned half way as king,
he was already giving out cities of the nation of Israel in order to pay
debts.
The fact that Solomon was extremely wise and gifted in administration
did not prevent him from being a victim of foundational bondage.
Do you know that motivational talks cannot deliver anyone from
foundational bondage? While ministers of God are, busy giving
motivational sermons, the members are busy struggling with their
bondage.
 When ancestral bondage lies at the root of anyone's life, no amount of
modern method will make the situation better. Deliverance is the need of
the hour. Positive confession, religious showmanship and the display of
affectation in speech patterns will not replace deliverance.

CHARMS IN THE CATHEDRAL
A few years ago, a friend of mine adopted western styles after
returning from a two week overseas ministerial tour. Whenever he spoke,
he paraded the accent of a westernized African. He felt that to be labeled
as a successful preacher you must speak and gesticulate. He was soon
proved wrong.
On a particular occasion, he was invited as guest speaker in a
programme held in an Anglican Church Cathedral. Just as he was about
to display his westernized preaching pattern, the Holy Spirit told him:
"Son, tell anyone carrying charms in their pockets or in their body to
throw them towards the pulpit". Initially, he was reluctant; he felt that it
would be out of fashion to make such a declaration, At last he told the
congregation that those who had charms should throw them to the front.
What happened thereafter shocked him and affected him in no small
way. There was a massive heap of all kind of charms at the pulpit. At that
point he realized that foreign preaching methods will not work in Nigeria.
That marked a turning point in his ministry.
What we need today is total deliverance from foundational bondage.
As a minister you must seek total deliverance from any form of evil family
pattern.

 CHAPTER TEN

DELIVERANCE PRAYERS

To demolish and destroy anything in your foundation, you need to

pray aggressively. The problems in your foundation may be silent at this
point but you must pray now, lest the problems rear up their heads when
they are least expected.
The devil has set up lots of foundational vultures who wait to strike at
your unguarded hour. There is a wonderful hymn which should act as a
reminder to us lest we forget the dangers that are inherent in foundational
bondage.

Christian seek not yet repose
Hear thy guardian angel say
Thou art in the midst of foes
Watch and pray.

Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thy unguarded hours:
Watch and pray!'

Gird thy heavenly armour on,
Wear it ever, night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray!'

Hear the victors who o'ercome;
Still they mark each warrior's way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim;
Watch and pray!'

Hear, above all hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray!'

Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray!'

The enemy will always wait for your hour of weakness. This is what
Jesus described as the "hour of the power of darkness". The hour of
darkness will come up in everyone's life but if you are fully prepared, you
have nothing to fear.
There is a night when what I have tagged 'the Judas Brigade' will
come to attack you. If they come fully armed and you are not prepared for
the attack, you will end up a loser. Once your foundation is faulty, you will
suffer defeat. Many ministers have risen and fallen shamefully because
of foundational bondage. Beware!

THE MAN IN THE PIT
Let me end this chapter with this illustration. A man fell into a pit and
he began to cry for help. He needed someone to rescue him. While the
man remained in the pit, he received a lot of sympathy and attempts were
made to help. Unfortunately, most of them could not help him.
The first person who came to his rescue happened to, be Brother
Sympathy. He was very sympathetic but that did not change the situation
of the man in the pit. All what Brother Sympathy said was, 'I am so sorry
about your plight. What a pity! Goodbye'. He turned away and left the
man in the pit.
The next visitor was Brother logic. He made a terse statement 'it is
logical that somebody must fall into a pit. You are only a victim of a pit
that was meant to make someone fall'. Having said that, Brother logic left
him in the pit.
Later, brother Condemnation arrived at the scene. He did not spare
the victim. He said, 'it takes a bad person like you to fall inside a pit; you
are suffering the consequences of your misdeeds'. He left the man in the
condition.
The next person who came on the scene was Sister Mathematics. All
she did was to measure the circumference and the radius of the pit. She
said nothing about the victim.
The next person who came was Mr. Journalist. To him the incident
was newsworthy 'Hello, we are trying to run an. exclusive story on how
you fell into this pit'. After listening to the story, he left the man in the pit.
Later Brother judgemental came to pass his verdict, 'The pit is the
only place meant for sinners like you'. Again he left the poor man there.
Sister Self Pity came on the scene. She declared: 'Are you feeling bad
because you are in the pit? My own condition is worse than yours'. She
left the man there.
Later Brother Charismatic peeped at the man in the pit and said:
'Brother, begin to confess that you are already out of the pit'. The man
kept on repeating the words 'I am outside' but he remained there.
Brother Holiness later showed up. Hr. said, 'You are inside the pit
because you are a sinner. Resent if you want to come out'. He also left
him there.
 Brother Hope came moments later. He said, 'Don't worry there is
hope. After all, you have a shelter over your head inside the pit'.
Brother Faith appeared later and said 'You are inside this pit because
you have no faith', later Sister Prophetess came, She said, 'Thus says
the Lord, "Things are going to get worse inside the pit. You will never
come out".
At long last, Brother Prayer Warrior arrived and declared "In the name
of Jesus, you are coming out of that hole whether you like it or not". After
a session of aggressive prayer, the victim received divine strength and
jumped out of the pit.
This is a parable. Ministers of the gospel are languishing in the pit,
only deliverance prayers will bring them out.

 CHAPTER ELEVEN

TOTAL DELIVERANCE FOR A
SUCCESSFUL MINISTRY

Just as ordinary people need deliverance in order to fulfil their

destinies, ministers of the gospel need total deliverance for a fruitful
ministry.
Ex 1:13-14: And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with
rigour: Arid they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, In mortar, and
in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein
they made them serve, was with rigour.
The passage above aptly describes the state of many ministers today.
The story of the children of Israel Is very instructive. The enemy made
them to serve with rigour. They were made to go through hard bondage.
Many ministers are suffering in silence. They try hard to conceal the ugly
secrets of their struggles. There are problems in the ministry, problems
within the family and problems in their personal lives which they cannot
share with anyone.
Unfortunately there is no minister to minister to gospel ministers.
Nobody seems to have taken up the responsibility of running servants of
God through deliverance and get them off the hook of inherited and
acquired bondage.
As a result of this situation, there are thousands of ministers who
carry on ministerial assignments even when they are under serious
bondage. The only problem is that many servants of God will rather
conceal their problems rather than own up to the fact that they are under
bondage.
 The children of Israel did not sweep their bondage under the carpet;
they brought it to the surface and cried unto God.
Exodus 2:23: And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of
Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage,
and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the
bondage.
As a minister of the gospel. you must not keep mum; open your mouth
and declare your need. Make your need for deliverance known to God.
As soon as you cry unto God asking him to set you free, he will deliver
you.
Exodus 2:24: And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his
covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
Here then is the procedure for ministerial deliverance

1. Recognise your bondage

2. Cry unto the God for deliverance

3. Receive total deliverance

There is a very powerful promise for ministers who have a deep
desire for ministerial deliverance.
Obadiah 1:17: But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall
be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
To possess your possessions and help others do so you need
deliverance. Deliverance is one ingredient that will flag off total
transformation and efficiency in your ministry. If ministers of the gospel
are expected to preach deliverance to the captives, we are expected to
be the first partaker of the fruit of deliverance. The Bible says:
 Luke 4:14: And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and
there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
Many ministers of the gospel can teach effectively on healing and
salvation but they demonstrate ignorance concerning the subject of
deliverance. A good number of men and women of God believe that the
only group of people who need deliverance are witches and wizards.
Ministers hardly understand the fact that deliverance from foundational
bondage is as important as deliverance from witchcraft. The dark powers
that are in charge of witchcraft are also the same dark powers that are in
charge of foundational bondage in the lives of gospel ministers.
Many Pastors are in need of one form of deliverance or the other.
Many Bishops and General Overseers need deep deliverance.
A lot of people who have been ministers for an upwards of twenty
years as well as those who can be regarded as veterans in the ministry
are yet to undergo deliverance. Do you know that the fact that you are
involved with the work of the Lord has not exempted you from
foundational battles?
The battles of life come up on everybody. No matter what .your rank is
in the Church, you have your own battles to fight. The battle of life often
starts from the wombs. This can be referred to as inherited warfare.
Inherited bondage gives birth to inherited warfare. Many ministers are
busy suffering from oppression or bondage Inherited from the ancestors.
Unfortunately, most of the ministers of the gospel accumulated
bondage early in life, only to struggle with same at the prime of their
ministry. Strange enough, bondage generally begins unnoticed, but often
snowballs into an explosive time bomb.
To make matters worse, most ministers of the Gospel are busy round
the clock trying to meet up with ever increasing ministerial assignments.
At the end of the day, the soul winner or the deliverer is busy reaching
out to souls without anybody to reach out to them. While they attend to
others, they leave out the urgent issues of their lives unattended to. They
are instrumental to setting the captives free, while they end up fortifying
their own personal captivities.
Consequently, ministers of the gospel end up with the type of
bondage that cannot even be found in the lives of ordinary members.
This happens because there is a general assumption that gospel
ministers have a sort of immunity. If there is any group of people who
should be taught afresh on the basis of deliverance, it is ministers of the
gospel. Those who are involved with the ministry should be brought
together once in a while for intensive deliverance.
What is deliverance?
Deliverance means to loose the bounds of wickedness. A lot of
members and ministers are under the bondage of wickedness. If you look
at the lives of many ministers, you will discover a wide array of wicked
occurrences. If as a minister, your live is surrounded by wicked
mysterious happenings, you need to go for deliverance as fast as you
can.
Deliverance centres on the destruction of the yoke of the enemy. A
yoke is anything that hinders or sets you back. Whatever hinders you
from moving forward in your ministry is a yoke. God's will is that you
move forward and attain divine goals set for your ministry. When the
contrary happens, there is a bondage hanging above your ministry.
What is Deliverance?
It is to break curses and evil covenants. The ancestors of many
ministers of the gospel were cursed and the curses have flown down the
family line. For example, if a minister struggles without any tangible
achievement in the ministry, there is a problem somewhere.
What is Deliverance?
It is the spiritual cleansing of an environment. A good number of
ministers live and build houses on plots of land that were once cursed or
dedicated to idols. 'Unless deliverance is conducted on the minister and
the environment, things will remain negative spiritually.
What is deliverance?
 It is the breaking of satanic chain that has made fruitfulness or
prosperity impossible for ministers of the gospel. There is an invisible
chain which has acted as a stubborn barrier between ministers of the
gospel and ministerial works. A lot of ministers have prayed and fasted
for prosperity but nothing has been experienced that can be termed real
prosperity.
What is Deliverance?
It is the removal of invisible loads laid on ministers of the gospel. What
many ministers carry goes beyond ministerial burdens. Men and women
of God bear burdens that are laid on their backs by the kingdom of
darkness. When such a burden becomes too heavy (it will always be)
ministers will always be forced to act irrationally.
What is Deliverance?
It is uprooting evil seeds from the lives of servants of God. Unknown
to many ministers, evil seeds. would have been consumed in the days of
ignorance. Such seeds often grow into invisible evil trees in the lives of
ministers. How can a minister succeed in his spiritual assignment, if an
evil tree has grown in his life?
What is Deliverance?
It is the removal of satanic embargo or padlock. In many instances,
some ministers struggle with unseen embargoes. No matter how hard the
minister tries, their members may not exceed two hundred. One single
embargo in the life of the minister can stall the growth of the ministry.
What is Deliverance?
It is the release from the power of darkness. Many ministers of God
are secretly under the bondage of powers of. darkness. They are not free
to move towards the divine direction. Instead of going forward, they keep
going backward. There Is every indication that satanic powers have kept
them under bondage. It takes deliverance to set you free as a minister.
What is Deliverance?
 It is being set free from compulsive evil habits and actions. There are
ministers who often misbehave and cause problems repeatedly in many
ministries. Such ministers need to undergo deliverance.
What is Deliverance?
It is being set free from habits that enslave. Many ministers struggle
with enslaving habits secretly. Deliverance is the answer.
What is Deliverance?'
It is freedom from stubborn hindrances to spiritual growth. A lot of
ministers find it difficult to make necessary spiritual progress. Many
ministers have struggled for years in order to be baptised with the Holy
Ghost without success. Of course, demonic bondage will make such
spiritual experiences difficult to attain.
What is Deliverance?
Deliverance involves being completely set free from past occult
bondage. A good number of ministers are yet to experience total
deliverance from the occult. This kind of deliverance is needed by those
who have gone very far with the devil.
What is Deliverance?
It is being set free from chronic sinful habits. If you are a minister and
you. are involved with chronic habit like homosexuality. lesbianism,
masturbation, smoking and addiction to alcohol, you need serious
deliverance.
What is Deliverance?
It includes being set free from sickness that defies medical diagnosis.
If divine healing has not worked for you as a deliverance minister and
efforts towards getting the best of medical help has yielded no result, you
need to go thorough deliverance .as a minister.
What is Deliverance?

 It means being set free from restlessness, mental confusion and other
malignant problems. As a minister, you must not struggle with
restlessness, mind blankness and memory failure; If you have
experienced such conditions, you need deliverance.
What is Deliverance?
It is being set free from inexplicable family break ups and recurrent
squabbles in the family.
What is Deliverance?
It is being set free from the binding power of an evil trend of recurrent
family troubles end tragedy. Some ministers are not exempted from the
evil flow of family tragedies. Such ministers need to submit themselves
for deliverance.
What is Deliverance?
It is being set free from mysterious spiritual experiences. If you go
through normal channels of prayers, spiritual discipline and application of
the word of God, yet victory is elusive, you need deliverance.
You need to cry unto God for deliverance today. If you have spent
your ministerial journey in the wilderness, you need to run to God as fast
as your feet can carry you. If you are contemplating packing it up with the
ministry, you must go for deliverance as soon as possible.
If you have concluded that you have had more than a fair share of
life's problems, you need to visit the deliverance clinic as soon as
possible.
If bad luck has continued to trail your life in spite of the fact that you
are a minister, you need deliverance. If you have discovered that the
same kind of bondage that is found in the lives of ordinary members is
Visibly present in your life, go for deliverance!

PRAYER POINTS

 1. In the presence of those asking for my God, O God arise and
manifest your power, in the name of Jesus.

2. Each gateway of poverty, I close you, in the name of Jesus.

3. Every spirit of poverty, I bury you alive, in the name of Jesus.

4. Every arrow fired against my destiny, die, in the name of Jesus.

5. (Lay your right hand on your head) Every marine spirit, and every
spirit of stagnancy, loose your hold on me, in the name of Jesus.

6. Any evil hand that has been laid on me, lift away, in the name of
Jesus.

7. You sickness in the stomach, in the head, you fever, you pile, you
diabetes, hypertension, convulsion, hepatitis, cancer, receive the
touch of healing.

8. Every ladder of ministerial failure, break, in the name of Jesus.

9. (Lay your right hand on your head) All silent destroyers, receive the
hammer of God in the name of Jesus.

10. Every ladder the enemy has planted in my life through which he has
been gaining access, start shaking and break, in the name of Jesus.

11. I release myself from any idol or water spirit that I may have been
handed over to by parents, in the name of Jesus.


 CHAPTER TWELVE

DELIVERANCE BY FIRE

Personal deliverance is the most effective form of deliverance. In this

chapter deliverance prayer points have been provided to enable you pray
your way to deliverance as a minister.

RECEIVING FRESH FIRE FROM ABOVE

1. Lord, cleanse all the soiled part of my life.

2. Lord, refresh every dry area of my life.

3. Lord, heal every wounded part of my life.

4. Lord, bend every evil rigidity in my life.

5. Lord, re-align every satanic straying in my life.

6. Lord, let the fire of the Holy Spirit warm every satanic freeze in my
life.

7. Lord, give me a life that kills death.

8. Lord, kindle in me the fire of charity.

9. Lord, glue me together where I am opposed to myself.

10. Lord, enrich me with your gift.

11. Lord, quicken me and increase my desire for the things of heaven.

12. By your rulership, O Lord, let the lust of the flesh in my life die.

13. Lord Jesus, increase daily in my life.

14. Lord Jesus, maintain your gifts in my life.

15. Lord, refine and purge my heart, in the name of Jesus.

16. Holy Spirit, inflame and fire my heart, in the name of Jesus.

18. Holy Ghost fire, begin to bum away every self-centeredness in me, in
the name of Jesus.

19. Father Lord. breathe your life-giving breath in to my soul, in the

34. Holy Spirit, blow upon me such that sin would no more find place in
me, in the name of Jesus.

40. Let enemy of excellence in my life be converted to my promotion, in
 the name of Jesus.

41. Let every past satanic achievement in my "life be converted to my
promotion, in the name of Jesus.

42. Lord, let the shame of my enemies be multiplied greatly.

43. Lord, let the defeat and disgrace of enemy of my progress be
multiplied beyond measure.

44. Let every power planning to turn my life upside down, fall down and
die now, in the name of Jesus.

45. I paralyse every satanic inspiration targeted against me, in the name
of Jesus.

46. I barricade my life from every satanic opinion, in the name of Jesus.

47. Let my divinely-appointed helpers begin to locate me from now, in
the name of Jesus.

48. Every lame glory, receive life now, in the name of Jesus.

7. I release myself from every negative anointing, in the name of Jesus.

9. I challenge every organ of my body with the fire of the Holy Spirit (lay
your right hand methodically on various parts of the body beginning
from the head), in the name of Jesus.

10. Let every human spirit attacking my spirit release me, in the name of

11. I reject every spirit of the tail, in the name of Jesus.

12. Sing the song: "Holy Ghost, fire, fire fall on me.

13. Let all evil marks on my body be burnt off by the fire of the Holy

negative yoke, in the name of Jesus.

15. Let every garment of hindrance and dirtiness be dissolved by the fire
 of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.

acknowledge enmity against anyone and every other thing that can
block my spiritual vision.

which is worth loving and to discover whatever that is not pleasing to
your eyes.
