MASBATE NATIONAL COMPREHENSIVE

HIGH SCHOOL CONDUCTED CAREER

GUIDANCE SYMPOSIUM FOR GRADE 10
STUDENTS

Masbate National Comprehensive High School conducted a Career

Guidance Symposium with the theme "Building the 21st Century
Learner’s Potential through School-based Career Guidance and
Capability Enhancement” for both grade 9 and 10 learners on
February 21, 2023, at the MNCHS Centennial Auditorium.

The Grade 10 Organization officers were assigned to assess and guide

the Grade 10 students in their designated areas and seats before the
symposium began, and they were also tasked with making a layout of
the proper floor plan for the event as well as collecting the attendance
sheets of each section and also securing the entrance and exit gates of
the auditorium.
The symposium began with a prayer and the singing of the national
anthem, followed by an opening address delivered by Ms. Catherine
Guadayo. An inspirational message from the Division Career
Guidance Coordinator, Maripaz Concepcion, is given hereafter. Then
the main objective of the program was introduced to the grade 10
students, wherein the Career Guidance Symposium aims to guide
learners as they explore various career options and decide which track
to take for their Senior High School strand next school year.

Leizel Mendez, T-III, the first resource

speaker, gave a thorough introduction to
the General Academic Strand, detailing
both its fundamental courses and its
applied and specialized disciplines. “You
can try out every track and are free to
explore and pursue your interests under
the General Academic Strand”, according
to Ms. Mendez. She continued, "GAS will give SHS students the
chance to choose their electives from specialized subjects in any other
strand.

Later, Sir Vincent Burgos introduced the

Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL)
strand. TESDA-backed employment is
guaranteed by the TVL strand, which also
offers a National Certificate (NC II) upon
graduation, he underlined in his
presentation. MNCHS presently provides
two TVL strands for seniors in high
school. Sir Burgos also identified potential curriculum exits for the
aforementioned strand.
Meanwhile, Ms. Roxanne Guiriba, a resource
speaker for Accountancy, Business, and
Management (ABM), delivered a promotional
film for the ABM strand as well as a video
presentation of work immersion implementation.
Ms. Guiriba also emphasized the benefits and
opportunities that the strand provides, such as
enhanced bookkeeping training.

Last but not least, Mr. Gerard Jan Ibaez, Teacher

III, introduced the Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand. In
his presentation, he emphasized the specialized
disciplines in STEM and how pupils under the
aforementioned strand are progressing in science
and math.

Furthermore, Marife A. Cañares, Principal IV,

announced that MNCHS intends to re-establish
the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)
strand under the Academic track next school
year.
