PCA-Ethical Communities Worksheet
Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the four ethical communities
2. Apply the ethical communities to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

The situation that I mention that from Module 1 is how they manage the presale tickets
for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is the situation I'd want to discuss during this course. To get
tickets for Taylor Swift's next tour, they had Taylor Swift fans register in order to acquire
a presale code. Only those who received the code were eligible to purchase tickets before
the general public. Many fans were unhappy and upset with Ticketmaster on the presale
day since there weren't enough tickets available for those who had the code, and there
were ticket resellers who were acquiring tickets just to resell them for exorbitant prices.
In this scenario, my role was that of a consumer who was attempting to obtain a code in
order to purchase a ticket for the performance.

2) Describe how the ethics of the organization influenced the situation.

The ethics of the organization, Ticketmaster, influenced the situation in a significant way.
Ticketmaster had a responsibility to ensure that the presale tickets were distributed fairly
among the fans who registered for the presale code. However, the situation suggests that
Ticketmaster did not take adequate measures to prevent ticket resellers from acquiring
tickets intended for genuine fans. The lack of sufficient tickets available to those who had
the presale code indicates that Ticketmaster may have prioritized profits over ethical
considerations such as fairness and transparency. Moreover, the fact that ticket resellers
were able to acquire tickets intended for genuine fans suggests that Ticketmaster may
have failed to implement measures to prevent unethical practices, such as ticket scalping.

3) Recommend how you would apply one of the ethical communities for an alternative
course of action regarding your case.

One ethical community that could be applied to the situation of managing presale tickets
for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is the virtue ethics community. This ethical framework
emphasizes the development of virtues or character traits, such as honesty, fairness, and
responsibility, in individuals and organizations. To apply virtue ethics to this situation,
Ticketmaster could have focused on developing the virtue of fairness in its operations.
One alternative course of action that Ticketmaster could have taken is to implement a
lottery system for distributing the presale tickets. This would have ensured that all fans
who registered for the presale had an equal chance of obtaining a ticket, rather than
favoring those who were quick to register and receive the presale code. Another
alternative course of action could have been to implement a system that would prevent or
limit ticket scalping. For instance, Ticketmaster could have required fans to provide
identification and limit the number of tickets that could be purchased per person. This
would have made it more difficult for ticket resellers to acquire a large number of tickets
and resell them at exorbitant prices, while ensuring that genuine fans had a better chance
of obtaining a ticket.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about ethics.

After reflecting I realized what I would I do different and that is to consider the impact of
one's actions on others. By taking a broader perspective and considering how one's
actions affect others, individuals can make more informed decisions that promote
fairness, justice, and the common good.Another key lesson that can be learned from
ethics is the importance of acting with integrity and being accountable for one's actions.
By being honest, transparent, and responsible, individuals can build trust and credibility,
which are essential for maintaining healthy relationships with others.Overall, what one
would do differently after learning about ethics depends on their personal values and
ethical principles. However, generally speaking, learning about ethics can help
individuals and organizations make better decisions, act more ethically, and promote a
more just and equitable society.
