PROPOSED WWME CAMEROON SELECTIONS / TRANSMISSION

PROCESS ACTIVITIES FOR 2023

Dear loving Couples and Priests,

Happy and Prosperous New Year this Sunday in the Octave of Christmas from NET Cameroon.
We hope this letter meets you, your family, and your community in good health and peace.

During our First Annual National Convention from 26th -28th April 2019, it was agreed that we
celebrate the 25th anniversary of WWME Cameroon in 2020 in Bamenda. Unfortunately, the
NOSO and COVID-19 Crisis, coupled with leadership problems in Bamenda Archdiocese did
not allow us to realize this dream. The Theme for the Anniversary was “To reawaken
faithfulness to dialogue”. However, a series of Zoom Meetings were held with Board Members
and Priests on reflections to Sustain WWME Cameroon after 25 years of existence. We hope
these activities are ongoing at least at the couple levels and in our cell meetings.

Considering Article 15.1 of our Amended constitution of the 27th April 2019, the term of the
NET whose selection/transmission took place on the 15-16th April 2018 officially come to an end
in November 2022, that is four and a half years. Given that selection has already been done at the
level of PANAF, we wish to declare opened the selections / transmission process, beginning with
DET from the months of March to May 2023 and ending with NET from July to Sept 2023.

Herewith attached are the proposed by-laws for the Selection / Transmission Process for DET
and NET Cameroon. We hope the various DETs shall study and implement them under the
supervision of the NET and/or Board members. See proposed timeline attached and details.

 THE SELECTION / TRANSMISSION PROCESS
WWME CAMEROON.

Dear Loving couples and Priests.

Seasonal Greeting from the NET in the name of our Lord.

Herewith the validated selection / transmission process by the consultative Board

of WWME Cameroon for appraisal, deliberation and validation by the WWME
National Board Cameroon to be held in February 2022 in Bafoussam.
A. TIMELINE SELECTION / TRANSMISSION PROCESS FOR THE DIOCESAN
ECCLESIAL TEAMS (DETs) CAMEROON

 B. CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY OF DET NOMINEE

Leadership criteria for DET Candidates:

a. Must have attended the original weekend and currently presents at least Dialogue
Journey.
b. Couples/priests presenting weekend talks (Rookie, Middle, or Admin Couples)
may have an additional advantage.
c. Have significant leadership experience in Marriage Encounter. For example,
might have served as DET Executive, Cell President, Batch Presidents, etc
d. Be immersed in a dialoguing way of life.
e. Be committed to the mission of Worldwide Marriage Encounter for at least three
years.
f. Must be a communicant and practicing Roman Catholic
g. Oldest spouse to be 60yrs or younger.

C. NOMINATIONS FOR DIOCESAN ECCLESIAL TEAM

1. The Diocesan Boards members can nominate candidate couples and priests. They should
undertake personal and spousal discernment before nominating candidates during the
selection meeting.

2. Couples and priests will be nominated separately, as Sacraments, not as Ecclesial Teams.

4. Please consider as you nominate:

a. The mission and vision of Worldwide Marriage Encounter.

b. The needs of WWME Cameroon at this time especially in Cameroon.
c. Your own freedom from personal preference and freedom to make truly Spirit-led
nominations.
d. Couples and priests who live the values of the weekend.

5. One nomination is required to be considered a nominee

7. NET will ask each nominee their willingness and availability to serve. The nominees
will respond to NET with their “yes” or “no”.

8. The Diocesan Board members of WWME Cameroon shall carry out the Selection
Activities proper according to Article 10.3 of the constitution.

E. CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY OF NET NOMINEE

Couples and priests to be nominated shall meet the following Leadership criteria:
a. Must have attended the original and deeper weekend and currently presents
weekend talks either as Rookie, Middle or Admin Couples / Priest.
b. Have significant leadership experience in their (Arch)Diocese.
c. Be immersed in a dialoguing way of life.
d. Be committed to the mission of Worldwide Marriage Encounter.
e. Must be a communicant and practicing Roman Catholic
f. Oldest spouse to be 60yrs or younger.

 F. NOMINATIONS FOR NATIONAL ECCLESIAL TEAM

1. The National Consultative Boards (current and Past National Ecclesial Team or
Sacrament) can nominate candidate couples and priests. They should undertake personal
and spousal discernment before nominating candidates. Ecclesial discernment is also
recommended. You may also consult with your prior National Ecclesial leadership teams
before submitting nominations.

2. Couples and priests may be nominated from any of the Archdiocese or Diocese in which
WWME Cameroon activities are been carried out.

3. Couples and priests will be nominated separately, as Sacraments, not as Ecclesial Teams.

4. Please consider as you nominate:

a. The mission and vision of Worldwide Marriage Encounter.

b. The needs of WWME Cameroon at this time especially in Cameroon.
c. Your own freedom from personal preference and freedom to make truly Spirit-led
nominations.
d. Couples and priests who live the values of the weekend.

5. All nominations should be sent to NET by June 30th, 2023.

Please list the qualities you see in each couple and priest you nominate. If possible,
please include the address, telephone number, mobile number, and email address of the
couple or priest you are nominating. Ask whether they can be contacted through
WhatsApp.

6. One nomination is required to be considered a nominee

7. NET will contact each nominee between July 1st and 8th 2023 to determine their
willingness and availability to serve. The nominees will respond to NET with their
“yes” or “no” within two weeks after receiving the phone or WhatsApp call or physical
contact.

8. NET will send a formal letter to the nominees who indicate they are willing to serve by
July 25th, 2023. A copy of this letter will also go to the Board. The letter will specify
what should be sent to the National Ecclesial Team for ultimate distribution to other
Board Members. The NET will ask if there are any limitations that they may have (e.g.
health, time, travel restrictions, serving only with one specific couple or priest, etc.).

9. NET will request personal details and leadership history (CV including a recent color
photo of couple or priest) of all nominees who agree to serve. These should be sent to

 NET by email or WhatsApp by August 2nd , 2023 to ensure timely dissemination to all
members of the National Board.

10. National Ecclesial Team will request a five (5) minute audio or video of each nominee
(video only if ALL nominees can do this adequately) to be sent or delivered to NET. A
written transcript of each nominee’s presentation will be requested to help in the process.

11. The National Ecclesial Team will send out the final list of nominations and personal
profiles to National Board members (National Constitutive Board and Current DET
member) involved in the selection process by August 16th 2023.

12. The National Board members of WWME Cameroon shall carry out the Selection Activities
proper between August 16th to 30th 2023, during a Board Meeting Convened for that Purpose by
NET according to Article 10.3.

G. SELECTION OF THE NATIONAL ECCLESIAL TEAM BY NATIONAL BOARD

MEMBERS

HOLY MASS TO PREPARE FOR THE SELECTION PROCESS

1. SELECTION OF THE COUPLE

Step 1. BALLOT 1

Each sacrament (Priesthood or Matrimony) to vote for two couples from the list of candidates.
Any couple listed on the first ballot will be eligible for ballot 2.

Step 2. BALLOT 2

Each sacrament shall vote for two couples. If any couple receives 80% of the votes, that couple
is elected. If not, only those couples who receive at least two votes proceed to the 3rd ballot.

Step 3. BALLOT 3

Each sacrament shall vote for one couple. If any couple receives 80% of the votes, that couple is
elected. If no couple receives 80% of the votes, the process stops and all go to Ecclesial Team
Dialogue, prayers, and discernment.

After that, only couples who received at least four votes proceed to ballot 4.

Step 4. BALLOT 4

As for Ballot 3. If no couple receives 80% of the votes, the top two couples proceed to the 5th
ballot, unless there is a tie for the second place then the three couples go ahead.

Step 5. BALLOT 5

On this ballot, the couple who receives 75% of the votes will be declared elected. If neither
couple receives 75% of the votes, further prayer, dialogue, sharing, and discernment will occur.
Ballot 6 will then be held.

Step 6. BALLOT 6

As for Ballot 5. If neither couple receives 75% of the votes, the entire process from step 1
above will be undertaken again.

In case of any tie, the current NET will cast the deciding vote.

2. SELECTION OF THE PRIEST

Steps 1 to 6 will be followed.

3. We celebrate and give thanks to God for the new National Ecclesial Team.

H. LEADERSHIP TRANSMISSION PROCESS

1. The main purpose is:

a. Establish an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect through a common vision
b. Sharing of experience
c. Communicating necessary information to incoming team
d. Transfer of relevant documents, archive materials, information, and data pertaining to
administration.

3. Biblical reflection and 10/10 on various aspects of leadership in WWME Cameroon
4. Working time to reflect and share on the aspect of leadership
a. Finance
b. Formation needs
c. The current state of the four pillars
d. Documents
e. Directories
f. Conduct of meetings
g. Visitation
