Jonathan: Can you remember what you dreamed about last night?

Rachel: I don’t know. I sleep really deeply, so I can’t remember my dreams.

Jonathan: Oh, come on. Haven’t you ever had an interesting dream that you can remember?
I need one to interpret for my psychology homework.

Rachel: Let me think. A few months ago, I remember dreaming that I was in a car accident.

Jonathan: A car accident? OK, that’s good.

Rachel: Is it?

Jonathan: Yes. Wait a minute. That means you made some kind of mistake and you were
worrying about it.Were you driving or watching?

Rachel: Driving, and the accident was my fault.

Jonathan: I see. You definitely made a mistake. Hopefully, nothing serious.

Rachel: I don’t think it was anything serious because I can’t remember anything about what
happened on the day I had that dream now!

Jonathan: OK. Have you got any other dreams for me?

Rachel: Erm, well, I remember having a really nice dream about going walking in a
gorgeous, mountainous place. I think it was in the Alps.

Jonathan: OK, and you didn’t fall or anything like that?

Rachel: No, I didn’t. Fortunately, I kept my balance and climbed over the rocks like a
professional climber.

Jonathan: Right. I’ll see if I can find what that means.

Rachel: It means I like going to the Alps, that’s all!

Jonathan: I don’t know. It sounds like you were overcoming an obstacle in your life.

Rachel: There aren’t any obstacles in my life. I’m really not sure I believe in all of this dream
stuff, Jonathan. I don’t understand why your psychology teacher is making you learn it.

Jonathan: It’s a science, Rachel. It helps us to get inside the human brain and understand
what’s going on in there. Just give me one more dream to interpret and I’ll show you what I
mean.
