Text A is a graphic text that emphasises the difficulties that disabled people encounter on a

daily basis, whereas text B is a written text that tells the tale of a disabled lady and her
problems. Both texts highlight the obstacles that disabled people endure, but use different
methodologies to do so.

Both texts establish a feeling of empathy within the audience. Text A uses camera angles.
This can be seen at 21:55 to 22:20. The creator captures a wide shot that places the lady in the
centre of a busy city intersection, making the lady the centre of attention. During this scene,
the audience can see how the lady is unable to get out of a car on her own and is reliant on the
driver to assist her; the viewers are then able to understand the lady's feelings because they
can directly see her struggles. Additionally, this evokes a feeling of empathy within the
viewers as they relate and understand the struggles that the lady faces. Similarly, text B uses
simile to make the audience feel pity for the lady. This can be seen when the author states “I
noticed that the shopper gave me a wide berth, as if I were contagious”. The audience can see
that the shoppers around the disabled woman kept their distance from her, she then goes on to
say "as if i were contagious" through this she creates a comparison between herself and a
person who has a disease that can be passed through contact, the author helps the audience
understand that the people around her in the shop would move away from her as if she could
infect them if they got too close. Furthermore, this evokes a sense of empathy within the
audience as they feel sorrow for the woman and try to understand what she is feeling.
Ultimately, the creators use of camera angles and simile effectively evoke a feeling of
empathy within the audience

In contrast, text A uses situation to convey the difficulties that disabled people face whereas
text B uses simile to discuss the author's perspective on disabled people. This can be seen in
text A from 22:30 to 22:50. In this scene, a disabled lady meets a young boy who is
innocently curious about the woman; however, rather than having a normal encounter, the
young boy's mother insists that he apologises to the disabled lady for simply looking at her;
this demonstrates to the audience that disabled people cannot even have a conversation with
other people without society feeling pity for them or not allowing people to engage.  On the
other hand, text B uses simile to convey the author's perspective on disabled people. This can
be seen when the author states “Like bruised fruit on a produce stand, I existed, but was
bypassed for healthier looking specimens”. The author compares herself to "bruised fruit,"
which are typically unsightly, unpleasant, and unpopular. The author is openly stating that she
shares all of the characteristics of a bruised fruit in terms of look, which helps the audience to
realise that the author considers disabled persons as unattractive. Furthermore, the audience
feel an emotion of sadness as they sympathise with the lady for considering herself
unattractive. Moreover, the creator uses the situation to highlight the prejudice disabled
people face, and simile to showcase her perspective on disabled people.

To conclude, text A employs camera angles and close-up images, whereas text B employs
simile. Despite the fact that these writings use different methodologies, they both elicit
empathy in the reader while highlighting the obstacles that disabled persons encounter.
