II. OBJECTIVE
• Dispense the right drug, dose and quantity that patients need.

IV. PROCEDURE
1. Adrress the customer with ma'am or sir.
2. Greet them with a smile.
3. Introduce yourself that you're the pharmacist.
4. Ask the customer what drugs he/she will be buying.
5. Receive and validate the prescription's name, dose and quantity.
6. If the prescription is illegible to read, confirm the prescription through contacting the
physician.
7. Check the availability of the stock, ask the customer either generic or branded drugs.
8. Prepare the order of the customer and cost the medicines prescribed.
9. Direct the patient to pay for the ordered medicine.
10. Double check the prepared medicine if it is the right drug, dose and quantity.
11. Write the label on each medicine, giving precise direction for use.
12. Hand the dispensed medicine to the customer.
13. Perform patient counseling by giving details on how the medicine should be taken.
14. Ask the customer he/she has questions or any clarifications and answer politely.
15. Say “thank you” to the patient before he leaves and smile.
16. Keep all patient medication record.

The pharmacist should record all the prescription medicines in the prescription book.

Proper dispensing should he done to every customer. It ensures that patients receive the correct
medication, in the right dose, at the appropriate intervals. This helps to prevent medication errors,
which can cause harm to patients. Dispensing medication properly is a legal and ethical requirement
for healthcare professionals. Failure to do so can result in legal and ethical consequences, including
malpractice lawsuits and disciplinary action.
