Chapter 1

Lacuna - a blank space, a missing part

Taehyung couldn’t really sleep, then again he never could when he knew in the morning his
beautiful husband would be finally returning home. He tossed and turned all night, already excited
to have the empty space in the bed filled.

The two had met back when Jungkook was a junior chef in their local diner called On The Grill.
Taehyung had just moved up to Seoul and was desperate for a job, luckily for him there was a
waiter job going and he was more than happy to accept.

And things went from there.

Only two months later, Jungkook asked Taehyung out on a date. A year later and they’d moved in
together. And two years later, they were married. It was perfect. Taehyung couldn’t begin to
express how happy he was, everything was perfect, exactly how he wanted things.

He was woken by Yeontan’s, their dog, tongue licking all over his face, barking and begging to be
let out. Sighing, he pulled the covers off and swung his legs over the side of the bed, his blue briefs
rising up his thighs. He rubbed his eyes, exhausted from the lack of sleep and pulled his phone out
of the draw to check the time. 6.40am and -

*message from hubby*

A smile spread across Taehyungs face, his eyes flicked down to the small band of gold on his left
hand, a eternal promise. He tucked his long black strands of hair behind his ears before he swiped
open his phone and read the message, his smile quickly disappearing.

‘Tae, I’m sorry,’

His head swam, why was he sorry? What had happened? Was he okay? Taehyung rang Jungkook’s
number over and over, no answer. He scrolled through his phone and called his best friend.

*ring* *ring* *ring*

‘Tae?? It’s- 7am??’

Taehyungs voice was shaky as he answered. “I-i think he’s left me..”

‘Who? Tae you aren’t making any sense’

“Jungkook.” He let out a sob, unable to hold them in any longer. “Jimin, Jungkook has left me.”
Chapter 2
Chapter Notes

Hello, I’ll post more chapters as soon as I can! :)

“Tae, this is crazy. He would never leave you!” Jimin reasoned as Taehyung cried into his pillow.

Jimin arrived at the apartment approximately 40 minutes later as the boy lived across town with his
husband, the ever grumpy Min Yoongi. The green haired man was slumped on the couch, still tired
and almost angry that Jimin made him come along. Tae noticed how they both still had their
pyjamas on, Jimin in soft grey shorts and a black tank top paired with an oversized black jacket
Taehyung presumed he had grabbed just before coming over, Yoongi was dressed in red and green
checkered long fabric pants and a white tee, a small blanket wrapped around his body as if he was
ready to sleep practically anywhere.

“I’m sure you’re just reading into this, I know Jungkook well enough to know if he was gonna
leave, he sure as hell wouldn’t do it like that.” Jimin crouched down and rubbed the crying boy’s
shoulder. “He wouldn’t send it in a shitty text, would he yoongs?”

“Mmm.” Yoongi groaned in reply, his eyes officially shut getting ready to sleep. Jimin rolled his
eyes and went back to Taehyung.

“Come on, theres always a reason for everything. Maybe he’s just late?” Taehyung chuckled at
that, the pieces of paper in his hands crumpling loudly. “What’s that?” Instead of answering
Taehyung just handed over the letters. He’d opened them this morning after he’d rang Jimin, a
weird moment of calm had washed over him and he almost felt normal, so he let Tannie out and
opened the mail like he always did. Only this time it made things worse.

“H-he signed out of the house??” Jimin stuttered, absolutely stunned as he read. “That’s not
possible, it can’t be!”

Taehyung pulled himself up and let his body fall off the bed and slump to the ground, his knees up
to his chest and hands clutching onto the tissue Jimin had handed him earlier. “It is. I called our
landlord. His names been taken off. The landlord has people coming for viewings in two weeks.”
He struggled to get it all out without crying but was proud that he could manage it. “Oh,” Tae
sniffled. “He’s cleaned out his bank account too. Everything is gone.” He felt his lip wobble and
tears prick at his eyes. “Everything.” He whispered mainly to himself.

“Tae I-“ Jimin was lost for words, a mixture of anger and sorrow plaguing his mind making him
feel almost dizzy. “Forget him. He wants to leave, then fine. Fuck him.”

“Don’t say that..” Taehyung whispered, too weak to really fight the boy on this.

“Don’t you dare defend him right now Taehyung. Don’t you dare! Look at what he’s done to you!
I’m going to kill him. I will tear him limb from fucking limb.” Jimin tore up the letters in his hands
as he screamed, stomping his feet and resisting the urge to punch the walls.

“Chim, calm down.” Yoongi spoke, he was now sat up without his blanket and his head in his
hands.

Jimin directed his fury on to his husband. “Don’t tell me to calm right now Yoongi I-“

One look from the grumpy green haired man and Jimin backed down, going silent and looking
away.

“Taehyung,” his voice was surprisingly soft for how menacing he just looked. “Have you actually
spoken to Jungkook or even namjoon?”

Tae shook his head. Namjoon was Jungkooks best friend, when Taehyung first met his husband the
two were so inseparable he thought they were dating but soon found out Namjoon was actually
engaged to his now husband Jin. He hadn’t even thought of calling him.

“Okay, well I’ll ring him now and see if we can make any sense of this.” Yoongi pulled out his
phone and quickly dialled Namjoon’s number. The two had met through Jungkook and became fast
friends when they realised they both worked at the same producing company. He sighed as it went
to answer phone. “Hey joon, when you get this will you give me a call? It’s kinda important.” He
hung up the phone and frowned. Sure it was nearly 8am but Namjoon was typically an early riser,
it was off for him not to answer his phone. “I’ll ring again later on, Joon will know what’s going
on I’m sure.”

“If he was in on this I will kill him too.” Jimin declared, he moved so he was sat down by tae, an
arm wrapped around his shoulders. “You can come stay with us for a while yeah? It’ll be nice
having you and tannie over, I feel like I hardly ever see you nowadays.”

“I don’t want to make a fuss, I can rent somewhere for a little while and go from there.” Taehyung
argued, he was thankful for the offer but didn’t think he was going to be much company for a
while and didn’t want to burden his friends.

“Nonsense, you’ll stay with us.” Taehyung looked up and saw as Yoongi stood up, he had Tannie
gathered up in his arms. “Holly will love having someone to play with, won’t she? Awwie.”
Yoongi fussed Tannie with a gummy smile spread on his face. “Come on, pack a bag of things you
need and anything else we can come get later on.”

It looked like Taehyung didn’t have much choice.

———————————

“The spare room is all made up and ready for you, I put Tannie’s bed in here too but I know he’ll
sleep with you anyways.” Jimin explained as he brought Taes stuff into his new room. “You’ve got
your own bathroom and stuff so hopefully we won’t bother you too much.” He laughed. “I will be
coming in for movie nights of course and will be available at all times for bestie snuggles.” He did
he best to cheer Taehyung up and he much appreciated it but nothing much could lift his mood
right now. Sensing Taehyungs need for space Jimin spoke. “I’m gonna leave you to it, let me know
if you need anything. And I mean anything.”

Once Jimin left Tae broke down again. It was almost as if the small click of the door shutting was
the starter gun for his tears. He collapsed against the bed and sobbed, Tannie running up behind
him and snugging close to his face. He held him close, body shaking all over with sobs. “How
could he do this to us Tannie?”

His phone bleeped and he nearly jumped out of his skin. He swiped it open and saw a notification
for a memory on his Facebook.
‘ *4 years today*

Ahhh I finally moved to Seoul!’

He nearly smiled at the memory. He remembered it like it was yesterday.

The train from Daegu was absolutely packed, his body felt like it was being crushed almost the
whole way there but nothing could bring down his happy mood. Once he stepped off the train,
giant suitcase trailing behind him, he genuinely felt free. Yes the air was harsher than the
strawberry fields he was used to but somehow it was easier to breathe.

Never in his life did he think he would move to the big city, it was always a dream of his but
wasn’t it everyone’s dream? He never thought a simple farm boy like him would ever be given the
chance, but now that it was here, he wasn’t going to waste it.

He had found himself a small motel to stay at for a while, the rent was dirt cheap and it wasn’t too
far from a diner so he always had somewhere he could eat. On his first night in Seoul he ventured
out to ‘On The Grill’, a place he would soon class as his second home. He remembers sitting down
in the vintage style booth, taking in all the red and blue colours that almost assaulted his eyes.

“Hello, welcome to On The Grill, my name’s Hyeri. how can I help you today?”

He was startled by a tall blonde headed goddess. Taehyung gulped at the sight of her. She was
dressed in fishnets and a skater skirt style dress that echoed the colours of the diner. Her white
name tag said ‘rose’. Taehyung tilted his head in confusion. Hyeri noticed and rushed to explain.

“She took my uniform home by accident, she’s out there somewhere with my name on her shirt.”
She laughed. Taehyung nodded and looked at the menu. “Do you need a minute?” Taehyung
nodded. “Well okay, I’ll be back in 5 minutes but if you decide before then, you can go up to the
counter. Your number is 7.”

“T-“ his voice croaked he coughed to clear it. “Thank you.”

His first thought was how cheap everything was, a bonus given his current situation. The second
thing was the amount of burgers. Maybe it’s a burger bar, he thought to himself.

“Hyeri! What are you doing woman?? you are needed in the kitchen!” A rather large greasy man
stuck his head out of the kitchen and yelled at the girl who almost cowered in her seat.

“Sorry oppa, I’m coming now.” She bowed her head and rushed into the kitchen.

Taehyung turned his head back to the menu, settling on a The Basic, a classic beef burger with
fries. Knowing Hyeri wouldn’t be back out anytime soon, he slid out of his booth and walked up to
the counter. Hyeri looked exhausted as she came back out.

“Oh? You ready to order?”

“Erm yeah. Yes please.” Taehyung felt himself grow small under such a confident gaze such a
hyeri’s. She smiled at him warmly.

“What would you like then sir?” She leant infront of a register as Taehyung spoke his order.
“Okay, that will be ready for you shortly. You want a drink or anything while you wait?”

Taehyung thought about it for a moment, on one hand he was very thirsty and this place was very
cheap but on the other hand he needed all the money he could get. He shook his head, a brown
mop of hair covering his eyes.

Hyeri looked him up and down and suddenly he felt self conscious. He glanced down at himself to
see what he was wearing, his mind going blank momentarily. He had on a plain black tee with a
pair of loose jeans and his favourite black converse shoes. Not too shabby he thought. “You look
like a strawberry shake kinda guy, right? Why don’t you take a seat up by the counter and I’ll
make your shake and you can tell me all about your home town.” Taehyung blinked his eyes
confused. “Oh don’t bother telling me I’m wrong. It’s written all over your face, I bet you just
moved here today.”

“I actually did yeah.” He pulled himself up on the bar stools that surrounded the counter and rested
his elbows on the counter top.

Hyeri smiled as she turned to make his drink. She was still smiling as she pulled levers on a
milkshake machine before adding a straw to a glass and handing it over to Taehyung. “Where’s the
hometown then?”

“Daegu.” He said after taking a long sip of his shake. It was amazing, definitely needed. “It’s Okay
there I guess, but it’s always been the dream to come here.”

Hyeri nodded, also resting her elbows on the counter opposite Taehyung. “Yeah I get that. I was
born here so I’ve personally never seen the appeal but, I get wanting to move away. Somewhere
new.” Taehyung hummed in agreement, still slurping on his milkshake. “Hey what’s your name
anyways?”

“Taehyung, but everyone calls me Tae.” He smiled, it made him remember all his friends back
home, a bittersweet memory he’d have to get used to missing.

“Tae. I like it. Cute.” Taehyung giggled, he was nearly done with his milkshake, all the coldness
rushing to his head. “Slow down there hun, you’ll get brain freeze.”

“Hyeri, do you have the um- wow.” Taehyung looked up to see a boy dressed in black and white
checkered pants and a white chefs top staring right at him with wide eyes. Taehyung felt himself
gulp, he was beautiful. His black hair was styled in a side part and the piercings in his ears made
Taehyung weak in the knees. The boy’s lips were parted in an ‘o’ and his eyes were slowly raking
down Taehyungs body. He shook his head and spoke again. “Sorry, erm Hyeri do you have those
em order pins?”

Hyeri, witnessing the entire interaction, let out a small giggle before answering. “Yeah they are
under the till.”

Giving one last look at Taehyung, the boy bowed his head in thanks before rushing back off into to
kitchen.

“That’s Jungkook, he’s our junior chef. And only 19! Can you believe it?” Hyeri explained,
chewing on her nails slightly.

“Only 19? Wow. He must be really skilled.” Taehyung didn’t quite know what else to say, he was
still in pure shock at the sight of him.

“Are you gay Tae?”

Taehyung nearly spat out his milkshake.

Hyeri laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

“I-I erm-“ he spluttered, not able to get words out and feeling the redness of his cheeks increasing.

“It’s cool it’s cool, no judgement in this house.” She held her hands up in surrender, still smiling.
“He’s gay too.”

Taehyung played dumb. “Who?”

She rolled her eyes. “Ggukie in there. Single as well.”

“Hyeri! Come get this food!” The greasy man, Taehyung presumed, shouted.

“Coming!”

She smiled again at Taehyung before disappearing. For some reason he didn’t really feel
embarrassed like he did at home when his friends found out he was gay, he just felt accepted and
almost loved?? Hyeri was fast becoming Tae’s favourite person in Seoul.

She came back out with her arms full of food, all perfectly balanced. She placed down his burger
infront of him and took away his now empty milkshake glass. “You got a job yet Tae?”

With a mouthful of burger he replied. “Nope, I’m gonna search for something tomorrow.”

“You want a job here?” She suggested, a smug look on her face. Taehyung got the feeling she was
up to something.

“Like for real?” He swallowed his mouthful and let his jaw fall slack in shock. “Seriously?”

She nodded. “I just spoke with ggukie and he said it’s yours if you want it. You can start
tomorrow.” She shrugged, turning again to the milkshake machine.

“Yes yes OMG thank you?! I know nothing about waiting though?” He suddenly felt sad again,
they wouldn’t give him the job now surely.

“As If that matters, hell I didn’t know a single thing before I started working here.” She turned
back around with a milkshake in her hand. “And look at me now, a professional.”

Taehyung giggled, falling ever further in love with Hyeri. “Okay then, thank you so much. I’ll be
here tomorrow, any time you need me.”

“Just come down at 9 and I’ll teach you the ropes, Jungkook will want to have a talk with you
though at some point.” Taehyung nearly gulped at the thought. “It’s just to discuss pay etc, don’t
panic.” She laughed, placing the shake next to his meal. “On the house, colleague.”

It was in that moment he knew moving to Seoul would be the best thing he’d ever do.
Chapter 3
Chapter Notes

Ahh it’s been taking me forever to upload I’m so so sorry!

Hopefully you like it, lemme know what you think :)

One month after

“Hey Tae, you awake?” Jimin spoke softly as he entered his best friends room, tannie was running
all around his feet, kicking up a fuss to get attention.

“Humm?” Taehyung mumbled as he turned in his bed, a pillow between this arms with a wet patch
where his face was.

“Ew tae, is that drool?” Jimin giggled, lifting up the covers and climbing into bed with the boy.

Taehyung sighed. “No chim, just tears.”

“Babes..” Jimin wrapped his arms around Taehyungs shoulders and pulled him close so that taes
head was resting on his chest. Taehyung happily accepted the embrace and rushed to intertwine
their legs and hold his arms over the smaller boy’s waist. “How are you holding up?”

“Not great chim, I just can’t believe it. You know I walked by our old apartment yesterday?” He
spoke softly. “There’s a young couple living in there now, with their little girl. We were meant to
start a family in there chim, it was meant to be me a jungk-“

“Stop! Don’t even say his name, I don’t want to hear it. You’ll start a family with someone else,
some better who isn’t going turn your life upside down in the blink of an eye. It’s been a whole
month now, he’s not coming back Tae, you just need to forget all about him.” Jimin hugged the
boy even closer and felt as a his chest started to grow damp. “Oh Tae, don’t cry.” His own voice
nearly wavering as he felt the vibration of his best friends sobs.

“S-sorry, I just can’t stop thinking a-about him.”

Just as Jimin was opening his mouth to speak, Yoongi knocked the door. “Come in.”

Yoongi popped his now black haired mess through the door and smiled sympathetically at the
scene. “Hey Tae, erm Namjoon is calling again. He wants to ask you stuff about when jungk-“

“Don’t say his name.” Jimin whisper-shouted.

“Ern about when you know who left..” he finished, trying to put it as delicately as possible as the
younger boy was still vulnerable and clearly not any closer to getting past it than he was a month
ago.

“No! I don’t want to talk about him. Ever again, no. Tell namjoon-hyung to fuck off.” Taehyung
cried, clinging even closer to Jimin who nearly winced at the tightness of the the new grip. Jimin
slowly stroked the boys hair, giving a small kiss to his head as his boyfriend sighed.
“I’ll tell him, maybe not in those words but I’ll tell him. It’ll get better Tae, you’ll feel better I’m
sure. Just hang in there buddy.” Jimin smiled softly at his boyfriend before his left, closing the
door behind him with a small click.

“Get some rest Tae, I’ll stay with you till you fall asleep. That sound okay?” Jimin asked knowing
full well the boy was already drifting off.

“Ummhumm.” He mumbled, snuggling in as much as possible.

——————————

He woke up nearly three hours later without Jimin in his arms, the smaller boy had been replaced
with an even smaller tannie who happily licked at his face at the sight of his eyes opening.

“Ah Hey tannie.” He fussed the fluff ball with a giant smile on his face, it was moments like these
when he forgot about the actual trauma that was his life. “I should probably take you for a walk
huh?” The dog perked up at this, already jumping off the bed and circling the ground where he
knew his collar and lead were hung up. “Okay I’m coming i’m coming.”

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and checked the time, it was 2pm and the sun was high
in the clouds. Perfect for a walk. He grabbed the nearest pair of jogger bottoms and pulled them up
over his legs, he had been sleeping in his boxers and a grey top so figured that would be fine, he
wouldn’t need to change. Nor could he be bothered too. Quickly throwing on some socks and
slipping his feet into some trainers he was ready to go. He put tannies collar on and clipped in his
lead.

“Ya come on.”

They went on what was meant to be a short walk, but 4 hours later and 16 missed calls from Jimin
later, the walked had turned into more of a long distance thing.

“Jesus tannie, how have your little legs coped?! Come here,” he scooped the pup up, intending on
carrying him back the whole way to give his legs some rest. “That’s better yeah? Good boy.”

He turned around the bend, trying to find some familiar buildings so that he could determine the
fastest way home when he saw it.

‘Spring Park’

Possibly the most beautiful park Taehyung had ever been to. Jungkook had took them there on their
first ever date, the memories rushed back.

Jungkook had showed up outside Taehyungs motel on his black Honda rebel, all suited and booted.
Well, Jungkooks version of that. When Taehyung got outside Jungkook was leant agaisnt his bike,
black strapped up boots and black leather pants with zips across the mid thighs with a classic gguki
white tee and his favourite leather jacket. Taehyung remembered seeing him wear it several days in
a row when he first got it and only stopped wearing it to work after some hot fat nearly melted the
entire thing. Taehyung and Hyeri has laughed so hard that Jungkook ignored them for nearly a
week.

“You look...” Jungkook said as Taehyung approached. He was dressed in black slacks, some thin
black braces over a red and white checkered shirt, topped off with a black beret. “Amazing.” He
gulped.

Taehyung blushed. “Well I don’t know about that but thank you, you look great too.” He looked
down at his feet, the redness growing up his neck and spilling over his cheeks.

“Thanks. Erm oh, this is for you.” Taehyung looked up as Jungkook retrieved sometime from his
bike, opening up the seat. “You might wanna take your hat off though..” he turned with a
motorbike helmet in his hands, it was all sleek and black matching the bike itself.

“Oh thanks,” Taehyung took the helmet from Jungkook and removed his beret. “And to think I
spent all this time on my hair..” he laughed, pulling on the helmet as Jungkook swung a leg over
his bike and put his own helmet on.

Taehyung gulped, slowly approaching the bike before swinging a leg over and holding onto the
seat.

“You ready?!” Taehyung nodded into the mirror. Jungkook smiled and revved the bike making
Taehyung jump forward, grasping onto Jungkooks torso for life. He felt as Jungkooks body shook
with laughter before he took off onto the roads.

The drive to the park was fast and exhilarating, Taehyung found himself pressing harder to the boy
in his arms, scared of falling but also secretly enjoying the warmth. The pulled up outside an
entrance to a park, a national park Taehyung presumed. The rusty vine woven sign read ‘spring
park’ and Taehyung fell in love right there. He would hear children laughing in the distance
accompanied by short barks and howls. Taehyung tried not to giggle as he swung his leg off the
bike, carefully removing his helmet as Jungkook also removed his helmet.

“Was it okay? The ride? You held on pretty tight...” he giggled as he climbed off the bike and
opened up the middle section, taking Taehyungs helmet off him and placing it inside. Tae rolled
his eyes and scowled as he put his beret back on, smoothing down his fringe.

“It was fine, and I didn’t hold on that tight..” He muttered to himself, a weak defence he knew.

“Not that tight?! I have marks, look!” Jungkook laughed deeply as he lifted his tee up and showed
off his stomach, two reddish impressions circling his abdomen. Taehyung gulped at the sight. He
was sculpted like a god, Tae swore he’d never seen that many abs in one place. He was on the right
side of tan, and Taehyung couldn’t help but notice the dog tags hanging low on his chest. Oh and
not forgetting the nipple piercing on his left nipple. Taehyung felt himself salivate and nearly
turned around to gather himself. Jungkook just smirked and slowly, painfully slowly, pulled his tee
back down. “Sorry.” He was not.

“Lets just go in.”

Taehyung entered the park to the sound of Jungkooks laughter, the younger male trailing behind
him. “How do you even know where we are going? This is my date,” the younger boy laughed.
“Let me lead.”

Taehyung turned to face him, rolling his eyes. “You didn’t even bring food genius.”

Jungkook raised an eyebrow suggestively. “Or did I?”

“Did you?” Taehyung pushed, amused by the boys cockiness.

The smirk fell from Jungkooks face as he stuttered. “W-well I, listen, so I might not have thought
all the way through but I’ll figure something out.” He stormed ahead, clearly flustered. He took
one last look behind him to be blinded by the boxy smile on Taehyungs face.

————————
Taehyung gaped as they turned into the clearing.

“Jungkook what the hell?! Ho-how did you do this?” Taehyung felt his jaw hit the floor as he took
it all in.

The whole clearing was lit by small yellow lights that if Taehyung didn’t know better he would
have thought they were fireflies. It was empty apart from one table right in the centre, as Taehyung
approached he noticed it was a white wooden table, with a meat grill in the middle accompanied by
two sets of plates and cutlery. A small vase of white Lily’s sat one the side of the table caught
Taehyungs eye, it was his favourite flower.

“Seriously how did you-?” Taehyungs breath caught in his throat as he felt his eyes swell with
tears. Jungkook came up behind him and placed a hand on the small of his back before leaning
forward and kissing the boy’s cheek.

“I asked around. Hyeri told me about the Lily’s, my dad helped me set this all up.” Tae hoped
Jungkook couldn’t see the now steady stream of tears falling down his face. Everything was just
perfect. He turned abruptly and hugged Jungkook close, making the younger stumble momentarily
before circling his arms around the boy. “I’m glad you like it.”

“Oh Jungkook I love it.” He pulled back and gave him a small smile before untangling his arms
from around his muscular neck, something which Taehyung didn’t commit to memory of course.

“Good.” Taehyung could practically see Jungkooks chest swell with pride. “Let’s sit yeah?” He
ushered Taehyung forward as he pulled out the chair for the older male, letting him sit down as he
tucked him back in.

Jungkook sat down himself, opposite Taehyung and turned on the meat grill. “I wasn’t sure exactly
what you liked so I kinda just brought a bit of everything.”

“Anything is fine, you really didn’t have to do all this gguk-ah, it’s only a first date!” Taehyung
laughed nervously, no one had ever done anything like that for him. Ever. In his whole life he’d
never been treated as wonderfully as that.

Jungkook reached a shy hand forward and grasped Taes. “Its you though, I can’t half ass anything
when it comes to you.” Jungkook smiled so gently, with such love and warmth that Taehyung
nearly spilt the ‘L’ word right there and then. But instead he settled with.

“You are beyond perfect, you know that?”

He shook his head, clearly disagreeing but moved on before Taehyung had chance to argue the
point further. “So, on a scale of meh to starving, how starving are we?”

“Starving.”

———————

“Yah, I am so full! I might actually burst out of my slacks.” Taehyung was leant back in his chair,
hand over his swelling stomach, swimming in the delightful sound that was Jungkooks laugh.

“Maybe that’s the plan.”

“Oh I see now, the scheme all a long! You are a clever one you, I’ll have to keep my eye on you.”
Taehyung joked, still clutching his stomach. He never ate that much usually especially on a first
date but, something about Jungkook made him...comfortable.
“I hope you do.” Jungkooks words were obviously weighted, the flirty sense still there but
something slightly more serious was lacing it’s way through his words.

“How about you? Will you be keeping an eye on me?” Taehyung asked, leaning forward in his
chair to get closer to the younger.

Jungkook smirked as he leant forward to meet Taehyung in the middle, “Taehyung, it’s impossible
to keep my eyes off of you.”

Tae looped his hand around the boy’s neck and pulled him forward, bringing their lips together in
frantic motion. Thankfully, the meat grill had been moved earlier in the evening so Taehyung
could freely press his body as close over the table as he could. “Mm tae.” Jungkook moaned into
his mouth, swiping his tongue along the elders bottom lip before kicking into his mouth with a
new found hot passion.

“I love how you say my name.” Taehyung gasped between kisses.

“Taehyung~” Jungkook whined making him go weak in the knees, hands gripping into the boy’s
shirt, dragging him closer to drink him in.

“Ahh Taetae-“

Taehyung pulled back, confusion painted across his face. “What made you say that?”

“What do you mean I’ve always called you taetae? Are you okay..?” The words were coming from
Jungkooks mouth but the voice was wrong. Taehyung tilted is head and squinted his eyes and
that’s when Jimin appeared.

The boy was stood in front of him, waving a small hand across his face as if to wake him from a
daze. Taehyung looked around and saw he was back at the corner of the road, just stood there
looking at the ‘spring park’ sign. Oh.

“You’ve been gone for like, hours Tae. We were so worried, Yoongi nearly called the police but-
hey are you alright?” Jimins voice pulled him back to reality. It was just a memory.

“Yeah yeah sorry, I erm just got lost and then just trying to figure out how to get home.” He
laughed nervously, knowing full well Jimin didn’t believe a thing but hoping he knew him well
enough that he would leave it. Which he did, thankfully.

“Jesus, can’t leave him alone for 5 minutes can I huh Tannie?” Jimin looked down at the
Pomeranian with a look of exasperation. “I bet your little legs are on fire huh baby?” Taehyung felt
bad all of a sudden.

He reached down and picked tannie up in his arms. “Shit sorry, I don’t know what I was thinking.
Did you drive here?” He asked Jimin.

“Yeah, Yoongi is actually circling the block as we speak, looking for you.”

Taehyung hummed, he would buy them dinner later as an apology for worrying them.

“Oh, there his is. Hey?” Taehyung felt as Jimin touched a hand to his cheek. “Don’t cry darling it’s
okay.”

He was crying?

“Are you ready?”

“Of course fucking not.”

Taehyung sighed. He stood in a pressed white shirt, grey lacks and a plain blue tie. Of course he
wasn’t. Who was ever ready to divorce their husbands after they abandoned them?

“You’ll be okay Tae. It’s the right thing to do, it’ll let you move on.” Jimin patted his shoulder and
gave him a sympathetic smile. The smaller boy had insisted he come to the hearing, as support and
to kick Jungkooks ass if he actually showed up.

Which of course he didn’t.

“I know chim I know. It’s just...” Tae paused to think of the right words but decided the absence of
them described it better. “At least I know for sure now, I really will never see him again.”

Taehyung hates how much pain laced his voice. How the tears he had long ago caged wanted to
break free. He hated how he still loved him. How he’d always love him.

“I hate him.”

“Jimin,” Tae sighed. “Please don’t say that. You don’t know why he left. Maybe I am completely
insufferable and an asshole to be with and he was completely within his rights to leave me and
never come back.”

“Tae-“

“I’m serious, Jimin. It’s okay. You know gguk, he had his reasons. He must have..” hopefully..

Tae looked over to his lawyer, who was currently beckoning him into the court room and nodded.
“Chim I’ve gotta go.”

“I’ll come -“ Tae put a hand on his shoulders, stopping the smaller boy from charging in.

“No Jimin. I’ve gotta do this by myself. I’ll be fine I promise.” Jimin looked like he wanted to
protest but even he knew Tae had to do it alone. The smaller boy nodded and stepped back.

“Good luck.”
———————

“All rise.”

Taehyung stood on shaky legs as the court magistrate spoke in a loud booming voice. He was
about to get the final verdict of his claim for divorce.

“Mr Kim as Mr Jeon has been absent from the past three hearings the court grants you the divorce.
However, as he is absent, all possession and claim for property are invalid and will no longer be
settled by this court. Dismissed.” He banged the gavel and rose, already leaving before Tae could
even process what had been ruled.

He was actually divorced.

His legs carried him out of the court room into Jimins open arms. Then to the car. Then to his bed.

“Why aren’t I crying?” He whispered to Jimin who was sat on the foot of his bed, next to
Taehyung.

“Maybe it hasn’t set in yet. Or maybe you are getting over it.” Jimin put his arm over Tae and
rubbed his shoulder. “You did well today. I’m proud of you.” He gave him a small squeeze.

“Thank you Jimin. I just feel.. drained. I can’t believe it’s been 7 months already.” Tae looked
down at his now ringless hand, he still had a band of pale skin where the ring had previously
shielded the skin from the sun. A painful reminder.

“Tae I-“ the soft buzzing coming from Jimins phone almost irritated Tae, he was so used to having
his own on silent he’d grown to hate the buzz of the thing. Jimin cancelled the call, throwing it on
the bedside table before he turned back to Tae.

“You can answer that you know. I’m okay.”

Jimin sighed. “It’s fine honestly. It’ll only be joon.”

Tae brow creased. “Namjoon? Why is he calling you all of a sudden?”

Jimin closed his eyes before letting out a long breath. “Because you don’t pick up to him
anymore.”

“What does he want?”

“To talk to you as always. He worried that- you know what. Let’s just forget he ever called yeah?
We need to celebrate a new start today.” Jimin forced a smile as he faced the younger boy. Tae
was still curious but didn’t push it, deciding for a more cunning plan.

“I guess you’re right. You wanna order pizza?” He suggested, relief flooding his veins as Jimins
face lit up with the idea.

“Yes! Oh I’ll go get the menu’s one second.”

As soon as Jimin left the room, Tae grabbed the boy’s phone off the bedside and pocketed it. He
followed Jimin into the kitchen where the boy was looking at the menus with the now black haired
Yoongi.
“Just write down whatever you want and I’ll go order it.” Tae spoke as he approached them.

“We can just order it’s fine.” Jimin reasoned.

“Honestly I need the walk, and at least if there’s food to keep warm I’ll actually come home on
time.” He laughed awkwardly, remembering the last time he wondered out alone. Jimin looked like
he was debating the idea in his head before Yoongi nudged his shoulder and nodded his head.

“Ah fine. We’re just gonna get what we usually get Tae, Yoongi said he already ate.” Yoongi
nodded to confirm.

“Awesome. I’ll be back soon then.”

The second he was out the door he opened Jimins phone. The last call was from an unknown
number and as much as that terrified Tae, he needed to speak to Namjoon.

He pressed call.

‘Jimin? Look, I know Tae doesn’t want to speak to me but he has to okay? I’m really worried about
Jungkook. He wouldn’t disappear like this! Something must have happened to him!’

“N-Namjoon it’s me.”

‘Oh..’

“What do you think has happened to him?” Panic coursing through his brain.

‘I’m not sure Tae but... it doesn’t seem right. Jungkook isn’t like this, you know that. He cut off
everyone he knows? In one day? Even his parents? Nah. Something is off.’

Tae bit is lip. He isn’t wrong, Tae thought, Jungkook wasn’t anything like this.

“Well what now?”

‘I’ve spoken to the police in Busan, they are gonna put out a search for him. I keep ringing the
hospitals,’ Tae drew in a sharp breath. ‘But there’s never anyone marching gguk’s description.’
The disappointment in Namjoons voice made Tae’s stomach drop.

“It still doesn’t explain the fact he sold the house, or that he cleared all his account. Maybe he just
thought it would be easier this way.” Tae fucking hoped he was wrong.

‘Tae. I’m really not meant to tell you this. Like really, really not. But.. Jungkook sold the house
because he..’

“He what Namjoon?!” He yelled, angry now.

‘He brought a farm house in daegu.’

His childhood dream.

“W-what..” the tears were flowing freely now. He let his body sink to the floor, back slightly
aching as his scraped down the brick wall.

‘That’s why he was going to Busan, to sell the family home his parents left him when they moved
away. He wanted to create a new life for the two of you. You see Tae? This is why I don’t believe
it. It don’t believe any of it.’
“Tae!!”

Tae ended the call and shoved the phone in his pocket. Jimin ran to pull him up and hug him.

“Tae if you still felt bad you shouldn’t have gone. You need to tell me when you’re feeling low.
I’m here for you.” Jimin whispered, saddened by the sight of his best friend crying on the floor.

“S-sorry Jimin. I should probably go rest..” Tae mumbled against Jimins shoulder.

“Of course.”

———————

The clock said it was 1.45am but Tae couldn’t sleep. The conversation with Namjoon replaying in
his head over and over. So many questions.

Why did Jungkook do all that?

Why didn’t Tae tell Jimin what Namjoon had said?

What does this mean now?

Where was his (ex) husband?

What the fuck was he going to do..?

Chapter 5
Chapter Notes

Sorry for the small chapter and sorry is a bit rushed! I will go back and spell check in a
couple days Ahh

Tae switched on his phone in what felt like the first time in years. He was sweating nervously, on
the edge of his bed. Jimin and Yoongi had gone to work about an hour ago but it had taken Tae that
time to gather the courage to call him.

‘Hello?’

“N-Namjoon?”

‘Tae, I’m so happy you’ve called. How have you been?’

Tae laughed awkwardly. “Shit. You?”

‘Yeah, I haven’t been much better. Tae listen, I’m not kidding about Jungkook. Something is off. I
spoke to his parents and they haven’t heard anything off him in the past 7 months, anything at all
and you know how close he is with them. At first they figured you two were busy setting up the
farm house so they didn’t bother him, but now they are worried sick. They are going to fly over
from New York as soon as they can.’ Tae drew in a breath. He hadn’t spoke to them in a while and
was suddenly terrified of what they would say to hi. ‘It’s going to be fine Tae, they love you,you
know that.’

“Maybe before but now I’m just their son’s ex husband.” It hurt to finally say it out loud, to make it
a reality.

‘Ex husband?’

“I.. I got the divorce finalised yesterday..” Namjoon was silent on the line, only the sounds of
steadied breathing could be heard. “Joon?”

‘How… how could you Tae? You know what Jungkook is like! You know he wouldn’t do this to
you! Fuck Tae..’

The tears bubbled up again in his eyes, the ache pounding against his chest again. “What else was I
meant to do Namjoon?! Stay here and hope he comes back? He sold the fucking house!! Where
was I meant to wait huh? On the streets? Fuck you. How dare you say that to me? Do you not think
it’s been hard?” Tae laughed almost manically through his tears. “Fuck I haven’t been able to get
out of my bed in months..”

‘I’m sorry, Tae. I-i didn’t think. Look, I have a meeting now but you can swing by the office later
and I’ll show you what I have so far and then we can go from there? Okay?’

Tae sniffled, tears flowing steadily. “Yeah okay.”

‘I’ll see you later. I’m sorry again.”

Tae hung up without answering and just lay back on his bed. Everything he was was right. Tae
knew Jungkook wasn’t like this. He knew he would at least leave him a letter or something. He
wouldn’t just leave and he definitely wouldn’t ignore his parents.

He groaned and pulled himself up, deciding to finally shower and get himself ready.

———

Namjoon’s office was much bigger than Tae remembered, but maybe that was due to the fact he
hadn’t been there in nearly a year.

“Tae! How nice of you to drop by!” The receptionist smiled brightly at him as he entered, forcing a
small smile onto his face.

“Hello, Miri. How have you been?”

“Wonderful. Though the place has been a lot quieter since your delightful husband stopped
dropping by. How is he anyway?” She must have seen how Tae’s face crumbled at the mention of
him and quickly changed the subject. “Oh! Namjoon has just finished his meeting so you can go
wait in his office if you’d like?” Tae nodded numbly and walked into namjoons office without
anything another word to the cheery receptionist.

He seated himself down on in the seat across from namjoons desk, where he clients would sit he
presumed. Namjoon was a music producer at one of the best production companies in Korea. Tae
remembered the countless times Jungkook would come home and gush about the new tracks
Namjoon was working on or what new artists he would be working with. Jungkook idolised that
man and Tae would be lying if he wasn’t a little jealous of the man.

“Tae, hi. Thanks for coming.”

Tae looked up to see a very tired looking Namjoon. He was dressed in plain jeans and a blue shirt,
something almost too simple for Namjoon. The deep blue of his shirt matched perfectly with the
blue circles under his eyes.

“Hi.”

Namjoon sat down and pulled out two black files. “Don’t ask how I got some of this stuff but this
is all I have on Gguk, some stuff makes absolutely no sense to me but it might do to you. Here.”
He passed the files over, the feel of them strange in Tae hands.

He flipped open the first one and nearly burst into tears. It was a cctv image of Jungkook at a gas
station in Busan. Tae looked at the name of the gas station and frowned.

“He was on his way home?”

“What?”

Tae sat forward and showed Namjoon the image he was looking at. “This gas station. Gguk always
stopped there on his way back from Busan as there aren’t any more stations on the main road. He
was on his way home.”

Namjoon frowned and looked over the adjoining notes. “This was taken at 12.37am, I think you’re
right. That’s about the time he would leave before returning. So why didn’t he?”

Tae flipped the next page of the file. “Why do you have accident reports for that day?”
Namjoon sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Just incase something had happened but I
checked them all. This one,” he pointed to a crash on the file. Two women and three children had
been killed on impact when a drunk driver had swerved off the lane. “Was a man named Thomas,
a traveller. This one,” A man, after falling alseep at the wheel, had crashed into the side of the
freeway. “Jung Lee.”

“What about this one?” Tae pointed to another case file. Two men had been involved in a head on
collision with a lorry that moved out into the road without looking. Both men unconscious but
stable.

“It’s too far away from the main roads, Jungkook wouldn’t have been anywhere near there. Plus
there were two men in the car.” Namjoon reasoned but it didn’t settle right with Tae.

“What if he picked someone up? Like a hitchhiker. And this road isn’t too far away from that
candy place he loves to go to.” Tae mulled the idea over in his head, the thought of Jungkook in
any kind of pain almost bringing him to tears but the relief of finding him was enough to make him
almost hopeful.

Namjoons face lit up. “I-I never even thought!” He picked up his phone and quickly dialled a
number. “Hey, Detective, it’s me Namjoon. Can you give me some more details on the 3358 case
in Busan please? It’s about Jungkook. Oh, thank you! Yes I will ring them now. Thank you so
much sir.”

Tae waited in anticipation, his nails digging into his seat. “Well?”

“The two men went to a hospital just outside of Busan, they both suffered substantial injuries and
are still there now.” Tae stood and started to make his was out of the office. “Wait, where are you
going?”

“We’re going to that hospital. Come on.”

————

“You’re where?!”

“Jimin calm down, I’m with Namjoon, I’m fine.” Tae explained to his irrational best friend as
Namjoon drove them to Sein Hospital.

“Namjoon? What are you doing with him!?”

Tae bit his lip. “We’re going to Busan.” He paused. “To find Jungkook.”

“Tae?! What the fuck is going on? Find Jungkook? What does that even mean? The bastard left
you and now you’re chasing after him?”

Tae could practically feel Namjoon rolling his eyes next to him. “Look, there’s more to this but I
don’t have time to explain! I just wanted to let you know I’m safe and I’ll be home soon. Bye
Jimin.”

“Oi! Don’t hang up on me-”

Tae took a deep breath. Jimin was going to kill him. He let his head fall back against the head rest
and closed his eyes.

“It’ll be okay, Tae. He’s just being dramatic right now but he’ll understand.” Namjoon assured,
turning onto the main road that connected Busan and Seoul.

“Ummhummm.” He mumbled back, his body being pulled under by sleep.

“Get some rest, I’ll wake you when we are there.”

But Tae was already asleep. His mind flooded with images of his husband.. ex husband and the
times they had together.

He felt himself smile as he dreamt.

Chapter Notes

As always no spell check for the first couple days sawwie.

Okies so we are in the final stretch! Only a couple more chapters to go so expect a
some more updates over the next couple days!

Loves ya <3

“Tae wake up.”

His eyes slowly opened to peek at who was waking him from a peaceful sleep. “Jungkook?”

Namjoon winced. “Not yet. But hopefully we’ll see him soon. Come on, we’re here.”

Tae blinked hard, the seat belt digging into his neck uncomfortably as he sat up. He groaned as he
rubbed his eyes and looked around at the hospital building. “H-he’s in there?”

Namjoon took a deep breath. “God I hope so.” He opened the car door and slowly took a step out.
He looked back into the car and smiled sympathetically at Tae. “Come on.”

Tae pushed the door open and drew in the fresh Busan air. It had been a while since he’d visited,
the last time was with Jungkook, helping his parents move out. He bit his lip as it wobbled, eyes
threatening to spill so much so that he had to close his eyes for a moment. He felt a hand lace with
his and almost pulled back, an automatic response to human interaction since Jungkook left. He
opened his eyes to see Namjoon stood beside him, a now firm grip in his hand. He nodded.

The inside of the hospital was as clinical as Tae expected, only there were less people than he
expected. They walked up to the reception desk, Tae’s chest felt heavy and palms sweaty. He
signaled to Namjoon that he was unable to speak, which of course he understood.

“Hello, how can I help you today?” The thick Busan satoori made his heart swell and breath catch
in his throat. He hadn’t heard it in so long. He missed it.

“We are looking for a possible patient, Jeon Jungkook?” Namjoon held his breath as she typed on
the computer.

“Hmm we have two Jungkook’s but no Jeon I am afraid.” She said sympathetically, adjusting the
glasses on her nose as she looked at them.

“Okay, well thank you anyway.” Namjoon sighed. The taller male turned to leave but something
within Tae made him grab his arm, stopping him.

“What do they look like?” Tae almost demanded.

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you any personal information about patients, I really wish I could help.” She
looked like she genuinely wanted to help and Tae understood but his head swam with anger.
“Come on Tae, we’ll f-” namjoon began, he was much calmer than Tae thought he would be.

“No! Namjoon, no! He’s got to be here I know he’s here!” He looked back at the woman and felt
his eyes fill up and his grip tighten on namjoons arm. Something was telling him to stay. Forcing
him to. “He’s 20 years old, about 5’10’, dark brown hair a-and the cutest bunny smile.” He paused
to gather himself, the tears slowly escaping his wide eyes. “He was wearing a back stussy shirt and
dark green overalls that I-I got him for his birthday. A w-wedding ring..” Tae looked down at the
light mark on his ring finger where the ring hand where the skin there had been hidden by his
wedding band. “He was driving to Seoul, he was c-coming ho-home to me..” he felt his body
hiccuping with his tears. Namjoon stroked his arm with his free hand as he sobbed, fighting off his
own tears. “He’s my h-husband… p-please..”

He looked up briefly when he heard the receptionist pick up the phone. “Hello? Hi Mina it’s Jihee
at reception, will you tell Jungkook he has visitors please? Wonderful thank you, I’ll send them up
now.”

“W-what..?” Namjoon stuttered, his hand stilling his movements on tae’s arm.

Jihee looked at Tae with a warm smile in his eyes. “So you’re Tae.”

“Yeah.. how did you..?”

She chuckled quietly as she stood. “He never shuts up about you. Tae this, Tae that. He talks of
you very warmly. Follow me.” She opened her desk and started walking down the corridor, her
heels clicking against the floor. Tae felt his body numbly following along, his whole body in shock
but his mind running a mile a minute. Namjoon walked just as silently beside him.

“When he first came here, poor thing couldn’t remember anything, not even his name. We tried
pulling his phone records but it was broken, frozen on a text conversation with ‘my beauTAEful
husband’.”

“Me? W-what did the message say?” Tae wasn’t sure why he asked, he already knew the answer
but he needed to be sure.

“I’ll let him show you.” They turned down another corridor to an elevator. Jihee pressed the button
as she spoke. “There’s a lot you need to know before you see him, I’ll need to take you to Mina
first so she can fill you in.”

“No.. please I need to see him.” Tae begged, tears threatening once again to fall. Namjoon side
hugged him, he was possibly the only person who understood his urgency to see him.

“Tae I..” the elevator door opened and they walked inside. Jihee took a deep breath. “Okay. But
please understand he’s been through a lot, his memory is still sketchy and he might be
overwhelmed.” The elevators opened on the 2nd floor. Tae’s legs took him out faster than he
allowed them but his excitement couldn’t be contained. “I’ll take you in to see him for a while, but
then Mina will have to talk to you.” They stopped infront of a door that said ‘patient rehabilitation
room’.

“Okay, I’ll do whatever just.. please take me to Jungkook.” The desperation couldn’t be hidden, it
shook through him as he tried to keep himself from collapsing.

Jihee smiled, her hand closed on the door handle. “Remember, he might get overwhelmed so just
be careful with him.” She opened the door and lead them inside. “Jungkook? There’s some people
here to see you.”
“Hmm? See me?”

Tae let out a small gasp. It was him.

“Yes, and I think you’ll be very happy to see who.”

Tae grabbed onto Namjoon, his heart beating out of his chest. He heard the noise of crutches
moving against the floor accompanied by heavy breaths and small mumbles. “If it’s just the
delivery man again I will cry. I know I’m gay Jihee but that doesn’t mean I fancy every man on the
planet.”

The noises came to a halt as the boy came out from behind a dressing curtain.

Tae felt like he might die.

He looked as youthful as ever. His hair was grown a little past his eyebrows and the brown dye he
used religiously had washed out, leaving his hair the near natural black Tae loved so much. He was
wearing blue clean hospital pajamas that were only a little too big, Tae felt his heart swell, he was
sure the boy had lost weight. He had a giant boot on his left leg, presumably the cause of the
crutches that he held under each arm.

“Tae..you’re real..?”
Chapter 7
Chapter Notes

I’ve got one more chapter for you coming soon,, I hope you enjoy <3

“W-what, of course I’m real?”

He couldn’t manage this thoughts. Tae’s body lurched forward, embracing his love’s body with all
his heart. Confusion surged through his veins when the other pushed him away.

“No!” He screamed, almost stumbling as he backed away from Tae’s approaching form. “You’re
lying. Get away from me you’re lying!” Tae’s heart broke as he watched the man he loved cry in
anger. “Jihee I trusted you! I didn’t tell you those things s-so you could make fun of me.”

Jihee calmly stepped forward, her arms up as if surrendering. “Jungkook, this isn’t a joke. They
came here to find you. I promise, it’s him, it’s Tae.” Jungkook’s eyes were wet with tears, his
breathing heavy making his chest visibly heave. “I know it’s a lot to take in, and I promise you
have all the time in the world to come to terms with it all. But I swear on my own child’s life, it’s
him.”

Tae waited for what seemed like an eternity with Jungkooks eyes on him. They pierced deep into
his soul as if to see through him, to try catch him out.

“If we had a dog..what would you call him?”

Tae was momentarily stunned at the question. He blinked away his confusion and whispered.
“Tannie. Well, Yeontan b-but Tannie for short. But he is already our dog.” Jungkook’s brow
creased. “We brought him from a puppy farm on our first proper trip to Daegu. At first you,” Tae
felt himself half heartedly laugh as he looked down at his hands, fingers nervously intertwining .
“You said you wanted a big dog, big and s-strong and manly. But then we saw Yeontan..”

“He was the cutest puppy I’d ever seen.” Tae’s head snapped up. “Did he get much bigger?”

Tae’s eyes welled with tears as he broke out into a smile. “So so much bigger. Though it’s all
fluff.”

Jungkook released a shaky breath before opening his arms. “It’s really you isn’t it?”

Once again Tae let himself fly into his arms, only this time he was encompassed with strong arms.
He felt jungkooks tears fall onto his shoulder as he released his own sobs. “You’ve lost too much
weight, your mom will be mad.”

“My mom? You know my parents?!” Jungkook pulled Tae away slightly to look at his face, eyes
wide in excitement.

“Yes, they are coming soon, they are going to be so happy you’re safe.” Tae stroked the soft
strands of his hair, quiet tears rolling down both of their cheeks. “I’ve missed you.”

Jungkook closed his eyes and leant into the touch. “How long?”
Tae took a deep breath. “7 months..”

“But we never forgot about you Gguk.” Jungkook looked up at the sound of namjoons voice, his
eyes widening in recognition.

“N-Namjoon?”

Tae begrudgingly removed himself from jungkooks grip as Namjoon came forward, a giant smile
on his face and a sad glistening to his eyes. “Fuck ive missed you, man.”

Jungkook wrapped his arms around the taller male and cried happily. “I thought you were all in my
head. I-I thought no one cared about me.”

Tae watched namjoons arms wrap even tighter around the boy at his admission. “We could never
forget about you Ggukie. We care about you so so much.”

“C-can I call my parents?”

Namjoon simply smiled. “Anything you want, anything.”

————

“He looks so peaceful.”

Tae hummed in agreement, hand still carding though the sleeping youngers hair. “He looks like
when I first met him.” Jungkook had fallen asleep pretty much the instant he lay on his bed, the
excitement a little too much for him with all his injuries. “When did they say they would be here?”

“Within the next couple days. His dad said his job was paying for the whole thing, apparently the
boss went through something similar and didn’t want him to miss anymore time with his son.”
Namjoon explained. Tae was thankful for Namjoon, especially in this moment. He made all the
necessary calls, he was strong and put together when they were answering Jungkook’s billion
questions whereas Tae was a blubbering mess. His mind kept flicking back to the past months, how
shitty it had been without him. And how divorced they were.

“Good. They’ll be happy to see him.”

“Tae, I need to speak to you. But outside.” Tae opened his mouth to protest but Namjoon held up
and hand to silence him. “I don’t want to risk Gguk hearing.”

Tae sighed as he kissed jungkook's forehead, slowly standing so as not to wake him before leaving
the room.

“What it is?”

“I got your divorce sorted.” Tae’s eyes went wide. “I called the courts, and your lawyer, got some
things sorted and due to circumstances it’s invalid. Your claim to divorce is completely invalid,
Tae. You’re still married.”

“R-really?” He felt his lip tremble, he thought he was all cried out but apparently not. “He’s my
husband still?”

“Yes, Tae. Now and forever. Just like you promised.” Namjoon hugged his body as it sagged,
relief flossing though him. “Now, let's get back to your husband shall we?”

————
For the next two weeks, everytime Jungkook woke he couldn’t believe it. He would panic before
fast remembering but the brief periods of distress worried Taehyung.

“Sorry, it’s just...I’m used to dreaming about my life with you all and to wake up and actually see
you.” Jungkook shook his head. “It feels like I’m still in my dream.”

“It’s expected son, we know this is hard for you.” Mrs Jeon held his hand close to her heart as she
spoke. His parents had arrived three days after they found Jungkook, both with huge smiles and
tears as they reintroduced themselves to Jungkook, a very heartwarming process to watch.

“Thanks, mom.” He smiled up at her, warm and wide. Tae felt his own heart swell at the sight.

“I can’t imagine going through what you have, I’m so proud of you.”

Tae felt like it was his time to leave, to let the mother and son speak in peace. As he left jungkook's
room he caught sight of a particular redhead.

“Jimin?”

Jimin brought him into a tight hug. “I’m so sorry we couldn’t come down sooner. Work just
wouldn’t give me the time off.”

“It’s okay! I’m just glad you’re here now.” Tae looked around, expecting a grumpy Yoongi to be
not far behind his husband.

“Oh, he’s just getting something to drink, he’s excited to see how Jungkook is doing.” Jimin
assured him. Tae nodded, unable to trust his voice as he felt tears creep up yet again. “Let’s sit
Yeah?”

———

A month later and Jungkook was finally able to leave. His leg had all healed up and he was able to
remember everyone he’d physically met, a big achievement that Tae was extremely proud of him
for.

“Wait, if I sold the house then where do we go?” Jungkook looked confused as he voiced his
concerns, his arm loosely wrapped around taehyung's waist.

“You remember that farmhouse in daegu you talked about?” Jungkook nodded after a moment.
“Well, you brought it. It’s ours. Your parents have been decorating it for us while they’ve been
over here.”

“Ours? I got it for you didn’t i? I-I think I remember you saying your dream was to own a
farmhouse,, right?” Tae nodded as his love spoke softly. “I really love you don’t i?”

“Apparently so.”

“Definitely.” Jungkook leant in and kissed him softly, still not as confident as previous Jungkook at
the whole kissing thing, but good still. “I love you.”

Taehyung was worried that the first time he heard Jungkook say he loved him again that it would
feel empty, forced even. But this sounded genuine. As genuine as on their wedding day.

“I love you too.”

Chapter 8
Chapter Notes

See the end of the chapter for notes

*One year later*

It was all jungkook’s idea.

They were stood at the sight of the crash, some short miles away from the gas station Jungkook
always stopped at on his way back to Seoul to buy candies. Where Tae briefly lost him, and where
Jungkook almost completely lost himself.

“I don’t know if this is a good idea..” Tae started weakly, his legs already trembling before they’d
even gotten out of the car but now they were here it was so much worse.

Just reached out and grabbed his hand. “I need to do this. I can be told time and time again what
happened here, but I need to remember it for myself. Then I can completely move on.” Tae’s heart
broke as he saw a small tear make t’s way down his husband’s beautiful face. “We can completely
move on.”

After taking a deep breath Tae nodded. He knew how hard this was for himself but he couldn’t
imagine how it must be for his husband. He was so proud of him.

He remembered the day the police had explained to them both exactly what had happened that day.
Jungkook had picked up a hitchhiker just before he’d left Busan, a young male trying to find his
way back to Seoul after a wild weekend away. The two of them had been driving along a small
road when a drunk lorry driver had pulled out in the middle of the road, forcing Jungkook to turn
harshly and spin the car, completely totalling it in the process. All three men involved were
unconscious by the time the paramedics arrived, but thankfully they were able to be moved out of
the vehicles before they set alight. Jungkook had cried for hours, pulling at his hair in frustration,
just trying to remember anything from that day. He couldn’t even remember leaving Busan.

Tae had held his husband as he cried himself to sleep more times than he’d taken steps. It broke his
heart. But Jungkook was stronger now. A year had passed and the younger male knew he needed to
be here. So Tae supported him. The drive from Daegu had been a quiet one, the nerves clear in the
air. He hoped it was all worth it.

Jungkook lead him further off the road, to the place where his car skidded and where he was found.
The grass there has completely grown over, almost as if nothing had ever affected it. Tae found
himself frowning. Maybe he’d presumed there would still be reminders, anything that would spark
a memory but there was… nothing. Just a smattering of daisy flowers sprouting from the ground.

“Not what you expected?” Tae asked him, the grip on his hand now tighter than ever.

“I thought there would be something here. But it’s just the same as it was before.” Jungkook’s lip
wobbled, tears threatening to fall down his rosy cheeks.

Tae moved so that he was now facing him, looking him square in the eye. “It’s move on. It’s
healed. It’s regrown and look,” he gestured around him to all the flowers around their feet. “It’s
flourishing. That’s what you should be doing, baby. Flourishing. You’ve come so far.” He places
his hands on either side of Jungkook’s face when the boy tried to look away. “I’m so so proud of
you but I don’t think remembering will help you. If anything, surely it’s a relief you don’t
remember? All that pain, that suffering? I don’t want to see that drag down your shoulders.” He
placed a soft kiss on his nose. “You’re so strong. So beautiful and I’m so happy I found you again.
Please don’t force yourself through this…” he felt his eyes well up as his voice dropped to a
whisper. “I don’t want to lose you again…”

“You will never lose me. You never did.” Jungkook leant forward and kissed him, a soft kiss filled
with love and adoration. “I love you.”

“I love you more.”

Jungkook smiled. “Impossible.” Tae let himself be pulled into Jungkook’s arms, his head falling
against a muscular shoulder. “You’re right. I don’t need to remember. I just need you. Only ever
you.”

This time Tae let his tears fall.

Happy tears.
