Mayor & Council – hope you have enjoyed the weekend; a bit of good news.  Our outside counsel
appointed by the Town’s insurance carrier has informed me that this litigation (commonly known as
the “preacher litigation”) has been settled.  Outside counsel – Chris Stearns – informed me that our
insurance carrier settled the matter by agreeing to pay Mr. LaCroix’ attorneys’ fees in exchange for
dismissal of the lawsuit against the Town.  To a large degree this outcome was the result of the Town
Council’s actions in adopting a new sign code that remedied the constitutional infirmities previously
identified by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.  In short, this litigation has been settled with no
further liability exposure by the Town to Mr. LaCroix.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
