Moldavia is mostly known by their spectacular monuments.

Being a country with a


former Soviet republic, the art is fixated in those times giving us wonderful
monuments.
Some of their examples are:

1. Suvorov monument: Carved in 1899 into the rock of ravine, commemorates the
fallen soldiers of Russia. The place was even visited by Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev during his state in 2009. It is located on the main avenue of the city so
it is easy to find. This sculpture portrays Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov
The bust of Suvorov is mounted on a rectangular pedestal. It is installed next to
the 18th century building of military engineering, a powder cellar. On all sides of
the monument there a plaques that tell about his life. There are two old cannons
around the monument.

2. Stephen the Great Monument: It was designed by architect Alexandru Pl?m?deal? in


1923. It was erected near the main entrance of the Stephen the Great Park in
Central Chi?in?u. The monument was completed in 1927 and opened on 29 April 1928
A few days before the 1940 Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and northern Bukovina,
the monument was relocated to Vaslui. On August 25, 1942, the monument was returned
to Chi?in?u and taken back to Romania in 1944. In 1945, the Soviet authorities
ordered the restoration of the monument to Chi?in?u.
On 31 August 1989 the monument to Stephen the Great was returned to its original
location, chosen by Alexandru Pl?m?deal? in the 1920s. The initial inscriptions
were restored. Flower-laying ceremonies are regularly performed at the pedestal of
this monument on each national holiday and on days of official top- and high-level
visits.

3. Sculpture of lovers: It is located in Strada Eugen Doga, Chi?in?u, Moldova. The


sculpture is very original, with the boy waiting for the arrival of his beloved, it
is in a pedestrian street on a slope. Is very nice and elegant, express all

4. Sculpture of Skateboarders: This is a whimsical monument directly in front of


Lake Komsomlsky at Marilor Park. There's a couple who is practicing the
skateboarding, with the woman trying to win balance and the man helping her to
stabilize, there's a dog of the dachshund breed. The area is so clean and so and
very quiet, perfect for a walk
