#1 ASTONISHING
Definition : extremely surprising or
impressive
Examples :
1. It was astonishing to see the nerdy
girl dancing in front of the whole
school.
2. He showed an astonishing lack of

or electricity, and now her life felt
completely different."
#2 QUESTION
Definition : ask (someone) questions, especially
in an official context.

Examples :
1. There is a lot of things being said by
the lecturer that makes me want to
question.
2. “Hi, Eliza,” Serena says, in a tone that
manages to question my presence and
convey a warm welcome at the same
time.
3. “It made me question why I feel like I
have to talk about race in a way they
understand."
#3 ABOMINABLE
Definition : very bad; terrible.

Examples :
1. My playful cat has made an
abominable mess in my yard and mom
is mad at me!
2. We had abominable weather all week.
3. The rooms were carefully examined,
and results all pointed to an
abominable crime.
#4 HAZARDOUS
Definition : risky; dangerous; perilous

Examples :
1. This horrifying bridge is one of the
most hazardous place in this town
because someone died here.
2. Neither was wearing suitable clothes
or had the correct skills and tools for
the hazardous conditions.
3. There was widespread looting and life
became very hazardous, especially for
families.
#5 DETERMINE
Definition : to settle or decide (an argument,
question, etc) conclusively, as by referring to
an authority
Examples :
1. The colonizer gives us chances to
determine our independence day.
2. Len and I have to play rock, paper,
scissors to determine who goes first.
3. It will now assess his complaint to
determine whether an investigation
should be launched.

Definition : to get or bring about by some
effort; obtain; secure

Examples :
1. The students have been working hard
to procure good grades for the exam.

Definition : having or showing no desire for

Definition : to feel strong hatred or disgust

Definition : to plead, press, or move (someone
to do something)

Examples :

2. He is driven by the urge to win back
the wife who left him for a colleague.
3. The caller urges the often elderly
victims to transfer their money to
a'safe' account set up in their name.
#10 SIGNIFY
Definition : to indicate, show, or suggest

Examples :
1. These evidences signify that MH370 had
been hijacked by the Americans or the
Russians.
2. But going away on holiday with us all
does signify something.
3. This light can signify something
potentially costly and possibly
dangerous to the passengers or others
on the road.
