SCENE 1: “Soon to be” Mayor’s Campaign

Setting: Public Open Space

(While the "soon to be" mayor (Mayor Manalo) is out campaigning, an unknown man
approaches him and pulls the trigger of his gun unexpectedly, knocking the mayor out. Because
of the gun's deafening noise, the audience was startled, and they gathered in panic. Although
several called for an ambulance, it was too late and the Mayor died.)

Citizens: *shouting and supporting their candidate*

Mayor Manalo: Magandang araw, mga kababayan!

(After hearing the noise, passers-by automatically gathered to see what was going on.)

Mayor Manalo: Isang malaking karangalan ang manguna sa botohan. Maraming salamat sa
inyong walang-sawang suporta sa amin ng aking mga kasamahan. Nawa’y patuloy niyo kaming
suportahan sa gaganaping eleksyon!

Extras: *hands out campaign flyers while the Mayor is talking*

Mayor Manalo: Inihahandog ko sa inyo ang plataporma ng ABANTE party—-

Hitman (wearing mysterious clothes): *goes near the Mayor and pulls the trigger of his gun
and shot him to death*

SFX: *gunshot sound 3 times*

 (The Mayor was about to introduce their future plans and platforms but he wasn’t able to
finish because he was shot 3 times. The crowd immediately panicked and surrounded the
Mayor’s body. Others were stunned and couldn't move)

Crowd: *crying for help*

Ahhhhh! Tulong!
Tumawag kayo ng ambulansya!
Mayor!!

SFX: *ambulance siren wailing*

(When the ambulance arrived, the first aider checked the Mayor’s pulse and vital signs.
They tried to revive him but failed. The Mayor was then officially pronounced dead. The Mayor’s
family, most especially his wife hysterically ran and hugged her dead husband’s body and cried
out loud.)

Mayor Manalo’s Wife: Mga walang hiya!!!!!! Tandaan niyo ang araw na ‘to, pagbabayaran
niyo ‘to!!!! (crying)

*QUE MUSIC…. BATA, DAHAN DAHAN BY IVOS*

SCENE 2: Congratulations
Setting: Mayor’s Office

(The rival candidate for Mayor (Mayor Policarpio) who won the elections and his
right-hand who was also the hitman responsible for Mayor Manalo’s death had a brief talk,
congratulating each other. The hitman congratulated Mayor Policarpio for winning the elections,
while Mayor Policarpio congratulated the hitman for successfully getting rid of his rival.)

Hitman: Ngayon na wala na ang iyong karibal, binabati kita Mayor sa iyong tagumpay sa
halalan.

Mayor Policarpio: Sa wakas at nasa akin na rin ang kapangyarihang matagal ko nang
inaasam. *smirks*

(Act out song lyrics while singing)

SCENE 3: Corruption
Setting: Mayor’s Office
 (The secretary approached the newly elected mayor (Mayor Policarpio) in his office for
the confirmation of the allocated budget for the “ayuda” or assistance to be distributed to the
townspeople. The secretary also relayed the appeal of the masses to be given more than the
planned budget for food and cash assistance due to the loss of their livelihood caused by the
pandemic. However, the mayor denied their plea for his personal gain.)

SFX: *knocking on the door*

Secretary: *hands out the budget plan for the ayuda to be confirmed and signed by the Mayor*
Mayor, ito na po ang budget plan para sa ipamimigay na subsidiya, pakipirmahan nalang
po kung aprubado niyo na. Pakiusap din po sana ng taumbayan kung pwedeng
dagdagan pa ito dahil kapos talaga ngayon dulot ng kawalan nila ng trabaho.

Mayor Policarpio: Aba’t?! Sobra-sobra na nga ito, hihingi pa sila ng dagdag? Mga abusado!
Kaltasan mo pa ‘yan at ilagay sa confidential funds, saka ko pipirmahan.

SCENE 4: Sigalot
Setting: Public Open Space

(When you thought the situation couldn’t get any worse, the people in-charge of the
distribution were also dishonest and selfish, and used their power to satisfy their greed and
personal intentions. This caused a major conflict between the townspeople. However, it did not
take them long to realize that their real enemy is not one another, but the current
administration.)

Crowd: *approaching the truck where relief goods are being distributed*

In-charge 1: Parating na sila! Itago niyo na ‘yang dalawampung sako, bilis!

(The people flooded the area in no time so it made the distribution very disorganized.
They kept pushing and shouting at one another until there were no sacks and envelopes with
money left.)

Person 1: Teka nga, bakit wala nang natira? Paano naman kami?

Person 2: Oo nga! Baka mamaya ‘di lang tag-iisa ang kinuha ng mga nauna! Nanlalamang na
kayo!

Person 3: At sino ka naman para pagbintangan ako? May pruweba ka ba?

Person 4: Kasalanan niyo’t pabagal-bagal kayo!

 (Their arguments escalated quickly that resulted into total chaos. They started
aggressively shouting and being physical with each other, until a loud voice from someone
made them stop and listen.)

Person 5: Tumigil kayong lahat! Hindi niyo ba nakikita? Hindi tayo ang dapat mag-away-away
dito! Pare-pareho lang tayong biktima!

Person 1: Anong ibig mong sabihin?

Person 5: Nakita kong nangungupit ‘yung mga namahagi sa ‘tin ng tulong! Sila ang dahilan
kung bakit kinulang ang ayuda. Sila ang dapat nating sisihin, silang mga nakatataas at nasa
puwesto!

SCENE 5 (LAST SCENE): Resolution / Continuation of Scene 4

Setting: Public Open Space

Person 2: Napakamakasarili nila! Hindi ibig sabihin na makapangyarihan sila ay pwede na nila
tayong isahan at lamangan!

Person 3: Hindi na sila naawa sa ‘tin!

Secretary: May ipagtatapat ako sa inyong lahat. Maaaring ikapahamak ko ang isisiwalat kong
ito, ngunit hindi na kaya ng konsensiya ko.

Crowd: *silence*

Secretary: Ang totoo niyan, mga kababayan, hindi lang ang mga naatasang mamahagi ng
tulong ang dapat managot sa kalapastanganang ito. Si Mayor Policarpio ang siyang puno’t dulo
ng lahat, dahil kung hindi niya binawasan at ibinulsa ang inilaang budget, sapat at maayos
sanang nakarating ang tulong na nararapat para sa inyong lahat.

Crowd: *noise of shock and disappointment*

Person 4: Kung hindi sana walang-awang pinatay si Mayor Manalo, tiyak na siya ang nagwagi,
nagsisilbi at nagmamalasakit sa atin ngayon!

Person 1: Hindi rin sana natin kailangang tiisin at danasin ang ganitong klaseng pamumuno
mula sa kasalukuyang nakaupo!

Person 5: Papayag lang ba kayo na harap-harapan tayong apihin at abusuhin ng ganito?!

Crowd: Hindi, hindi kami papayag!

Person 5: Hahayaan niyo na lang bang sila ang makinabang sa perang para sa ‘tin, habang
tayo’y habangbuhay nang lugmok sa bulok na sistemang ito?!

Crowd: Hindi, hindi kami papayag!

Secretary: Pabagsakin ang Mayor! Makibaka, wag matakot!

Crowd: Makibaka, ‘wag matakot! (repeat)
