Features of the reproduction of heroes-antagonists' images of Chinese literature
(XIV-XVII centuries) in Ukrainian translation Rresearch topic The study focuses on the presenting of the contemporary approach to the comparative analysis of negative images in classical Chinese literature. Definition of translation transformations as an auxiliary tool in the process of translation from Chinese to Ukrainian is also regarded as the main goal of our research. Research context Sinology in Ukraine is a relatively new science. Previously, Chinese philologists had already studied certain aspects of the novels "Three Kingdoms", "The Water Margin" and "Plum Flowers in a Golden Vase" (for example: Kostanda I. O. "Peculiarities of the use of parallelism in the content of Chinese novels of the 14th-16th centuries) (for example novel "Three Kingdoms")"). However, antagonistic heroes in classical Chinese literature have not yet been characterized and their comparative analysis has not been carried out. Contribution This work can make a significant contribution to the further development of philology. In the course of the work, we will deepen our knowledge of the Chinese novels "Three Kingdoms", " The Water Margin", "Plum Flowers in a Golden Vase", paying attention to the history of translations of these masterpieces. Moreover, we will investigate the peculiarities of the reproduction of the images of antagonistic heroes in Chinese classical literature (XIV-XVII centuries). Methods The methods we will use in the research process include the following: the study of the main images of the antagonists and the analysis of the peculiarities of their reproduction in the translation into Ukrainian; description of the common and different in the depicting of male and female negative characters; a study of translation transformations that were used during the translation of antagonistic characters ‘ descriptions. Resources First of all, these are the original works of three novels and studies that have certain similarities with our topic. We will also use theoretical materials containing information about translation studies, translation transformation, Chinese literature and negative characters. How the project can be developed In the future, this topic can be developed in several aspects. For instance, the common and distinctive features of Ukrainian, English, and Chinese negative heroes can be compared.
