Cross Regulator Design Template Guide
ii) Enter the size of gate, to see standard size pl. click " Table for gate size ". Click back to
enter the size.
iii) Enter number of gate according to the discharge. According to the number of gate the
message will be displays for drawing. The number and width of pier will displays
automatically.
iv) If the head loss is not provided, then enter the allowable afflux height.
Back v) The crest height should not be less than 0.15 m and more than 40 % of FSD. But in case of
smaller FSD, it may be taken upto 0.05 m.
vi) If the linear waterway check is not satis fied, then change the gate sie, afflux height up to the
desired limit, etc…
vii) Select type of transition. The type of transition will affect the calculated head loss. Hence
select according to the site requirement.
Abutment :
i) Enter the top width of abutment, it should not be less than 0.60 m, and will be in the range
of 0.60 m , 0.75 m and 0.90 m according to the height and span length and stability
consideration.
iii) Enter the foundation level on the basis of trial pit result. The foundation level should be at
least minimum 0.60 m below C.B.L. or below stilling basin Level which ever is lower. And
it should be in the natural firm ground. The foundation should not be kept on the made up
Back ground ( i.e. on embankment ). If the hard rock is mate at the CBL , then the foudation
sould be at CBL, and the bed concrete of 0.30 m depth will be below CBL. The proper
anchoring of abutment with hard rock shall be done. It will be the field officers
resposnsibility to decide the foundation level.
iv) Select the foundation strata on the basis of trial pit result or as per actual excavation.
v) Enter the side slope for stable abutment section upto the "Hence O.K." results.
Warped wall :
i) Enter the splay for U/S warped wall. The splay should not be flatter than 3 : 1 at U/S.
ii) Enter the splay for D/S warped wall. The splay should not be flatter than 4 : 1 at D/S.
Guide wall :
i) Enter the foundation level on the basis of trial pit result. The foundation level should be at
least minimum 0.20 m below C.B.L. or below stilling basin Level which ever is lower. And
it should be in the natural firm ground. The foundation should not be kept on the made up
ground ( i.e. on embankment ). If the hard rock is mate at the CBL , then the foudation
sould be at CBL, and the bed concrete of 0.30 m depth will be below CBL. The proper
anchoring of guide wall with hard rock shall be done. It will be the field officers
resposnsibility to decide the foundation level.
ii) Select the foundation strata on the basis of trial pit result or as per actual excavation.
The solid slab for operation platform shall be as per As per B&C Drawing BL (IV) /III-C/
74023 /TP. In our case the span length will never be more than 1.50 m . Hence the details of
1.50 m are used for solid slab thickness, reinforcement, etc…
3 Click " Design " , in this sheet the step by step hydraulic and structural design is available. The print will
be taken of this design. The soft copy of design may be kept by select all , copy and paste in new
workbook.
5 If in the no .of gate row the message displays " Pl. go for Two gate Drw for Drawing output ", then
click " Two Gate Drawing ", otherwise " One Gate Drawing ". Take print of this drawing on A3 size
paper.
