3 min Greeting PPT


Teacher introduces the lesson objectives and discusses them
together with learners. The topic of the lesson is introduced, too.

Lead-in:
Students listen to a discussion about free healthcare and match the
viewpoints with the reasons. Then, say which points they agree or
disagree with. (ex1 answers:A-2, B-3,C-1)
12 min Teacher asks students what they know about an opinion essay and
(3-6 slides) share their ideas about it. T introduces an opinion essay.
Students match parts of opinion essay with their definitions.
Answers are given in the ppt.

Task 1 T tells that there are 3 paragraphs in the opinion essay ( 1


paragraph is introduction, 2 paragraph is viewpoints and examples,
3rd paragraph is conclusion. Teacher gives 3 min to fill the table

Learners read the given topic sentence and suggested suitable
arguments for the first example. Following this example, they try to
suggest arguments/reasons for the other topic sentences. They PPT
share with pairs and after then, teacher asks volunteers to share
with the whole class.

Afterward, learners are given opinions to restate them by using


synonyms. Ss read the given example as a whole class and then,
10 min try to paraphrase or use synonyms to restate the following
opinions.

Task 3 Ss read the following writing task and underline key
words, then answer the questions.

What are the benefits of studying these subjects? Ss should write


answers in their handouts. This activity helps ss to state their
20 min viewpoints properly if they agree or disagree with the statement in
the rubric by giving reasons. Ss complete the parts of the essay
given, using their answers from previous discussion as well as their
own ideas. If they could not finish their writing task, they would
do it at home.
