University of California Los Angeles

UCLA stands for University of California Los Angeles and it is located in Los Angeles

between Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. If you want to get into UCLA keep in mind that the

application fee is 70$ dollars. And the tuition cost annually is 37,448 if you're a UCLA residence

halls. But if you're in an off campus apartment, the tuition is 37,129. And if you're living with a

relative, the tuition costs 29,092. The cost and expenses for living in UCLA can be up to 17,23$,

16,224, 7,101. UCLA has financial aid offers and they are 1 Scholarship, 2 Grants, 3 Loans, 4

Part-Time Student Jobs. And at UCLA, we know that 62% of students get financial aid.

To get into UCLA, you need a certain weighted and unweighted GPA. A weighted GPA is

when your GPA has taken the consideration of the difficulty of classes that you have taken. The

maximum weighted GPA that you will need to achieve is 4.5. But the highest weighted GPA that

you could achieve on getting is 5.0.An unweighted GPA is the GPA calculated by your overall

grade not including the difficulty courses that you take in high school. So the overall unweighted

GPA that you could get is 4.0. If you were thinking of applying for UCLA, just keep in mind that

if you are a transfer student your GPA has to at least be 3.5 or higher. If it is your first year of

college or just moving from another college to UCLA just keep in mind that your GPA has to at

least be 3.5. But if you are just transferring your courses then your GPA has to at least be 3.2 or

higher. Keep in mind that when applying for UCLA, they don’t actually look for any test scores.

What they will be checking for a fully weighted GPA, is your AP and/or IB class scores. The

weighted GPA score that is being looked for is 5.0. But for an unweighted GPA, they will not

include any extra points given. The unweighted GPA that you maximum need is 4.0. While you

are considering sending an application to UCLA, you will need to send a personal statement. A

personal statement is when you write about yourself, your story, your goals you are trying to

achieve, your challenges you face, and about experience and diversity. This is something

important because this can help you connect with more people and get to know them. An

example if you write a personal statement is it could help you get into clubs, meet new people,

make friends, and help you find who you really are.

UCLA has a lot of majors or academic programs and some that they offer are African American

Studies, African and Middle Eastern Studies , American Indian Studies, American Literature and

Culture and Ancient Near East and Egyptology (UCLA Undergraduate Admission). Also at

UCLA they offer graduates and PhD programs; some of them are doctoral degrees are PhDs; we

also offer a Doctor of Education, Doctor of Environmental Science and Engineering, Doctor of

Public Health, and Doctor of Musical Arts(UCLA Undergraduate Admission). Retention rates

measure the percentage of first time undergraduate students who return to the same institution

the following fall. UCLA retention rate was 96.9 and that is really good because it means that

almost every student returns to UCLA because they liked the school. Graduation rates are the

calculated percentages of students who graduate or complete their program within a specified timeframe

and admission rate tells us what percentage of students get in. And at UCLA the Graduation

Learning about UCLA was something very interesting to learn about. Many fun facts and

awesome traditions that UCLA does. But we can start off with fun facts. UCLA most popular sports is

Men’s baseball, Men’s basketball, Men’s soccer, Men’s tennis, Men’s track and field, Men’s volleyball,

Men’s water polo, Women’s Gymnastics, Women’s Rowing, Women’s beach volleyball, Women’s Soccer,

Women’s softball, Women’s swimming and diving, Women’s Tennis, Women’s track and field, Women’s

volleyball, Women’s water polo. And cross country in general. So if you were interested in any type of

sports mentioned, look more into it because UCLA has very good teams. As a matter of fact, there was a

famous alumni at the school, Russell Westbrook. Best known as a famous Basketball player, Russell

Westbrook played 75 games for the basketball team. This is what eventually led to him becoming one of

the most famous UCLA alumni. So UCLA has very good sports and a good team. But it’s not just sports

that they have. They also have fun events and traditions that they do. For example, The best SC rally. The

best SC rally happens during november. The Beat 'SC Rally, one of the largest outdoor gatherings on

campus, embodies the tremendous spirit and loyalty of UCLA students, fans, and alumni. It feels like a

warm welcome for the new transfer students. Next tradition that they do at UCLA is that they have a

Spring sing. The spring sing happens during May. Spring Sing highlights the most talented students

performing songs, dance, and sketch comedy. And as a matter of fact, it is UCLA's oldest and greatest

musical traction that they implement. And one of the traditions that they do specifically for seniors is they

have a graduation trip. And it’s called Graduating Senior trip. This happens all during June and July. What

they do is, They go to Europe to celebrate. Travel with Bruins through 9 countries with an optional

extension to Southern Italy and the Greek Isles. It is an amazing trip and very exciting for the seniors. But

you may be wondering how UCLA became UCLA. It all happened on July 1, 1920, where “David

Prescott Barrows requested to Implement a training corps program at SBUC” SouthernBranch of

University California. This was stated on the UCLA website. This was how UCLA was created. Now

UCLA has received the most application fees than any other Universities in the whole world. This just

shows how amazing this school is. And each year it sets a record. And the way they had their mascot was

a very long process. First, they started as cubs. But once students started to adopt more of a grizzly

behavior in 1924 they wanted to switch mascots to be grizzly bears. In 1926, they could vote for what

mascot they wanted. But unfortunately, the grizzlies were already taken, so they sadly could not choose

the grizzlies. So they had to stick with cubs, until Berkeley decided to give them one of their mascots.

Since Berkeley had two mascots, the bears and bruins, the students voted to give the Bruins to UCLA, so

they wouldn't stick with the cubs. And that’s how Joe Bruins was introduced to UCLA. Joe Bruins is

UCLA’s mascot. And even though they have two Bruins, Joe and Josephine Bruins, Joe is the most known

and most iconic.

In conclusion, our opinion about UCLA is that it's an excellent school. First, UCLA has a really high

retention rate of 96.6. Even though UCLA is looking at your GPA being at least 3.5 it is very likely you

will pass your classes with a GPA a 3.5 or even higher. The amount of graduation rates proves that UCLA

will have a positive impact in your life. No matter what, UCLA will help you graduate with the GPA that

you desire to have when graduating. This can have a really good effect on your future. Helping you with

jobs and having a good income.
