MODULE PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION

Let’s Do This

TASK 1 – BRIEF EXPLANATION

Directions: Explain the questions below briefly. Five sentences will do.

1. Why do people listen?

People listen because of some reasons. Listening is the ability to precisely receive and
interpret messages in the communication process. Listening is key to all effective
communication. Without the ability to listen effectively, messages are easily
misunderstood. As a result, communication breaks down and the sender of the message
can easily become frustrated or irritated. Listening helps us, people to become aware of
our surroundings. For example, our dog barked aggressively, that would probably mean
there is danger nearby. Moreover, some people listen to learn because listening can
consider as learning, when we hear and listened something we can learn about it.
Listening is also the key to communication. If you want to make a difference in the world,
or to be a great parent, or to have a brilliant relationship, or to lead and inspire people, or
to be a real friend, or to be a star salesperson, or change the way people think forever,
listening is the most important skill.

2. What is the importance of listening to the lives of humans?

The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The
best way to understand people is to listen to them. Good listening and proper questioning
give a powerful message to those with whom you interact. They increase your capacity to
influence, motivate, develop or serve people effectively. Listening and questioning are an
inherent part of most life skills, fundamental to human interaction, and a major factor in
the success of a good communicator. Listening builds trust, reduces misunderstandings,
helps eliminate conflict, encourages empathy, and improves romantic relationships. Also,
listening improves business relationships, helps deepen your friendships, increases your
productivity, helps with learning new languages as well as improves your leadership skills.

3. Is listening necessary foe\r human survival?

Yes, listening is necessary for human survival because nowadays it is so hard to live
without the capacity to listen or to hear. A lot of people use listening in their everyday life
or how they survive in their life. For example, when we have good listening we can
understand others, enhance relationships, persuade or sell effectively, lead and inspire a
team, or learn from others. Good listening enables us to show that we are paying attention
to the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of the other. Listening connects us to others and
