ArtCAM’s 3D Machining Wizard

At Delcam we are continuously developing our software solutions to
streamline your work processes. The 3D machining wizard in ArtCAM is just
one of those developments.

Whether your work is predominately flat jewellery pieces such as pendants,

or cylindrical/spherical objects such as rings, the ArtCAM 3D machining
wizard has been designed to not only automate the machining process of
your waxes but to reduce the time taken calculating your toolpaths and
machining your model.
This wizard enables you to select from
a range of machining options. These
are: 3 axis, rotary axis, index and
inside ring machining. Additionally
these machining functions can be
combined to create a number of
complex and intricate pieces. For
example a ring with both edge
and outside band detail can be
produced by first 3 axis machining
both sides of a flipped wax and then
running a rotary toolpath over the
model.

To manufacture sophisticated parts requiring these multiple machining

set-ups, ArtCAM’s intuitive and powerful menu options allow users to
incorporate bosses (also known as ring plugs) of different international
standards (American, European, etc) to hold their work in place. This
provides ArtCAM users with total compatibility with their machine, fixtures
and design requirements.
