I was able to hit all of these criteria, I only gave myself a four though because I wasn’t really
able to develop the level of educational plans that I had wanted to. Overall though I did learn
and perform quite well about how to look at options and the ways to present them to students in
a way that would best support them. Some students really did best with a few options that were
more concrete and some students wanted to see all of the options and really be able to look into
it. Getting to work with different students with different needs, as well as watch the different
advisors working in different ways with different students I feel I have a decent foundation to
work as an advisor.

This is where I think I grew the most. Historically, I have not been great at texting or instant
messaging; however, running the CHAT function became one of my main responsibilities while
there. Though I was not very confident at first, I was able to help or direct people to who they
needed successfully. While doing this, I was able to learn more myself as I looked for their
answers. Though sometimes I had to reach out to the group to discover an answer, I also
became competent in discovering the answers and helping the students on my own.
3) Explain the positives and challenges for both four-year and two-year institutions and
connect what might work best for an individual student

educational direction they can take you on
Learn more about which programs prep you for the workforce vs.
continued education

I definitely learned a lot, not just about Academic advising but STCC/Community Colleges. I
also learned a lot more about Massachusetts's transfer process and resources and how all the
resources and programs work together to support the students. However, I definitely could have
done more informational interviews with more offices than I did if I had allowed myself to go
outside of my comfort zone.
opportunities. Though I could have taken more opportunities to network, and I wouldn't have
minded being able to meet with more students, I really appreciate what I was able to do, and I
excelled at it.
