RULE BOOK (TECHNICAL EVENTS)

Name of Event: De-Bug Faster (Debugging Contest)


Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Sangeeta (BCA) and Ms. Megha (BCA)
Venue- Room 213, 214 Time: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM

Rules-
1. Team should consist of maximum 3 members.
2. The programming language given will be C/C++.
3. The participants need to analyse the code and correct it.
4. Questions have to be answered in the allotted time.
5. Each question will carry 4 marks. There will not be any negative marking,
6. Any kind of unfair means will lead to disqualification.
7. Any kind of misbehaviour with the volunteers will lead to disqualification.
8. Internet will not be provided.
9. Use of mobile phones or other electronic devices will not be permitted.
Name of Event: Mind TechQuizzer (Technical Quiz Contest)

Venue- Room Seminar Hall Time: 1:30 PM-3:00 PM
GENERAL RULES
1. The quiz will be held at 2 levels.
2. The total duration of the event is 90 minutes. No break is allowed during the
event.
3. The entries of quiz open to all B. Tech Student
4. The questions will be asked from General Science, General knowledge and
General Engineering.
5. Each team shall consist of 3 regular students from the same college and should
possess valid student identity cards.
6. No communication will be allowed between the teams during the event.
7. Questions may be in the form of text, figure, video or audio clips and will be
displayed on the screen.
8. Each question will be displayed on the screen for not more than 15 seconds.
9. Each team will get not more than 30 seconds to give the final answer.
10. A master score sheet will be on public display.
11. The participants shall not be allowed to use any type of gadget including mobile
phones, storage devices, laptops etc.
12. Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the teams.
13. Replacement of any participant of a team is allowed only upto 30 minutes before
the start of the event.
14. Number of prizes will depend on number of teams participating in the event as
per Tech Fest rules.
15. Any team found using unfair means or not following event rules will be
disqualified.
16. The decision of the quiz-master/judges will be final.

RULES FOR QUIZ LEVELS


LEVEL-I
1. There will be 5 rounds and each team will be asked 1 question in each round.
2. If a team gives correct answer, the team will be awarded 3 points. If the team
does not answer or does not give correct answer, the question will NOT be
passed on to the next team.
3. At the end of 5th round, the top 5* teams will be shortlisted for level 2 based on
their score.
4. In case of a tie, additional questions will be asked to the tied teams to break the
tie so that only 5* teams move to level-II.

LEVEL-II
1. The seating order of the teams will be decided on the basis of a draw.
2. There will be 5 rounds and each team will be asked 1 question in each round.
3. If a team gives correct answer, the team will be awarded 3 points. If the team
does not answer or does not give correct answer, the question will be passed on
to the next team. If the next team gives correct answer, the team will be awarded
bonus 1 point.
4. At the end of 5th round, the top 3** teams will be selected based on their score.
5. In case of a tie, additional questions will be asked to the tied teams to break the
tie so that only 3** teams are selected for first, second and third positions.
Name of Event: Junk Management (JUNKYARD)

Rules & Regulations:
1. Teams have to make a working circuit from available junk circuit elements.
2. Each team will get 1 hour to complete their final product.
3. Each team may consist of maximum 4 participants.
4. Members of a team may be from any stream.
5. There is no limit on size, shape, and weight but the circuit should be logically correct
and practically working.
JUDGING CRITERIA: Teams will be judged on the basis of usefulness of the available
material. Products will also be also judged on the basis of its usefulness and cost
effectiveness. Teams will also be judged based on demonstration. Judges reserve the
right to disqualify if they found any type of cheating during the event. The decision of
the judges shall be treated as final and binding on all.
Name of Event: CAD Designing

Venue- 113 Time: 09:30 – 10:30
RULES
1. Design and 3-D modelling of a component.
2. The duration of the event is 60 minutes. No break is allowed during the event.
3. Each team shall consist of 2 regular students from the same college and should
possess valid student identity cards.
4. Problem for the event will be provided on the spot.
5. The evaluation will be on the basis of CAD file (soft copy) saved in a folder
(named as per registration ID) on the desktop.
6. Computer with Auto CAD software will be provided to the teams.
7. The participants shall not be allowed to use any type of gadget including mobile
phones, storage devices, laptops etc.
8. Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the teams.
9. Replacement of any participant of a team is allowed only upto 30 minutes before
the start of the event.
10. Number of prizes will depend on number of teams participating in the event as
per Tech Fest rules
11. Any team found using unfair means or not following event rules will be
disqualified.
12. The decision of the judges will be final.
Name of Event: Pick a Color ‘Digital Logo Design’

Venue- 213, 214 Time: 09:30 – 11:00
1. Each participant has to design a unique logo for our institute on theme of
sustainability and innovation. The logo should contain DPGITM + theme.
2. Dimensions should be 8X8 cm
3. The participant can use any software or online logo desining websites to design
the logo.
4. The logo should be unique and attractive. It should contain the relevant theme
idea.
5. The participant will disqualify if the design is found to be copied.
6. The judgement will be based on clarity, resolution and impressive presentation
of designed logo.
7. The decision of the judges will be final.
Name of Event: WARZONE “ROBOWAR”

Venue- Open arena in basket ball court Time: 11:00- 12:30 pm
GENERAL RULES
1. The total duration of the event is 180 minutes.
2. Each team shall consist of minimum 3 regular students from the same college and
should possess valid student identity cards.
3. The cost of the robot and accessories will be the responsibility of the participating team.
4. The participants shall not be allowed to use any type of gadget including mobile phones,
storage devices, laptops etc. except robot controllers during the battles.
5. Replacement of any participant of a team is allowed only up to 30 minutes before the
start of the event.
6. Number of prizes will depend on number of teams participating in the event as per
Tech Fest rules.
7. Any team found using unfair means or not following event rules will be disqualified.
8. Compliance with all event rules is mandatory. It is expected that competitors stay
within the rules and procedures of their own accord and do not require constant policing.
9. The decision of the judges will be final.
ROBO-WAR THEME
A remote or wired controlled robot capable of fighting a one on one battle with another
ro bot in an arena.
ARENA SPECIFICATIONS
Arena size will be 3600 mm x 3600 mm approximately having hard wooden base and
fencing.
GAME RULES
1. The competition will be played on knock-out basis consisting of 2 robots at a time,
selected on the basis of a draw.
2. The maximum duration of each round will be 5 minutes. Any team that is not ready at
the specified time will be disqualified from the competition automatically.
3. The robot will be checked for its safety before the competition and will be discarded if
found unsafe for other participants and spectators.
4. A robot is declared victorious if its opponent is immobilized or pushed out of the arena
twice.
5. A robot will be declared immobile if it cannot display linear motion of at least one inch
within a time period of 30 seconds. A partially disabled robot will not be counted out if it
can demonstrate some degree of controlled movement.
6. If the competing robots survive the five minutes without getting immobilized or pushed
out of the arena, the robot with the higher hit points wins. The hit point in favor of a robot
“A” will be counted only for the following cases:
a. The opponent robot “B” is hit on the sides.
b. The opponent robot “B” is hit on front/back while “B” is approaching away from “A”.
7. The winner moves on and the loser is eliminated from the tournament.
ROBOT CONSTRAINTS
1. The robot should fit in a box of dimension 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm (l×b×h) with all
mechanisms fully executing motions. Length and width is measured to the extremities of
the Robot, i.e. includes any overhanging bodywork, weaponry or protrusions. The
external device used to control the robot is not included in the size constraint.
2. DC servomotors and stepper motors (12V-24V) can be used as per the design of robots.
ROBOT MOBILITY & CONTROL
1. All robots must have visible and controlled mobility in order to compete. Methods of
mobility include Rolling wheels, tracks or the whole robot. Jumping, hopping and Flying
(using airfoil, helium balloons etc.) is not allowed.
2. If the robot control is wired, then the wire should remain slack under all circumstances
during the competition. All the wires coming out of the robot should be stacked as a single
unit. The wires should be properly insulated. Teams are suggested to use only rated wires
such as ISI marked. Loose connections or improper wiring may lead to direct
disqualification even before the event.
3. If the robot is controlled wirelessly, the robot must at least have a four frequency
remote control circuit or two dual control circuits which may be interchanged before the
start of the race to avoid frequency interference with other teams. The case of any
interference in the wireless systems will not be considered for rematch or results.
4. Remote control systems from toys/ available in the market may be used.
BATTERY AND POWER
1. The machine can be powered electrically only. Batteries must be sealed, immobilized-
electrolyte types (such as Li-ion, NiCd, NiMH or dry cells).
2. Working voltages must not exceed 24V DC at any point of time.
3. All power connections must be of an adequate grade and adequately insulated. Cables
must be routed to minimize the chances of being cut.
4. All efforts must be made to protect battery terminals from a direct short and causing
a battery fire, failure to do so will cause direct disqualification.
5. Battery Eliminators are allowed and power source would be available at the venue for
the eliminators.
SAFETY RULES
1. All weapons must have a safety cover on any sharp edges.
2. It is responsibility of the teams to ensure the safety of the competitors and audience
during the Robo-War event.
3. The organizers and the institute will not be responsible for any injury to the
participants during the Tech Fest events and no financial claims will be entertained in
this regard.
4. Any damage to the robot and accessories during the event will be borne by the teams.

Name of Event: LINE FOLLOWER RACE

GENERAL RULES

2. Each team shall consist of minimum 2 regular students from the same college

LINE-FOLLOWER THEME
1. The challenge of the competition is to make a robot that can move on black lines
on a white background and reach the finish line.
2. The ROBOT which will reach the FINISH line by following the black lines from
START line in shortest time will be the winner.
ARENA SPECIFICATIONS
1. Arena size will be 1600 mm x 1800 mm approximately having hard wooden base.
2. The background color of floor will be white with black lines and signs.
3. Lines to be followed are 20 mm in width and are black.
4. The organizing committee will make every possible attempt to ensure that there
are no ‘bumps’ on the arena. However, competitors must be prepared to deal
with slight imperfections.
5. There will be one START line and one FINISH line in the entire field.
6. The following configurations of markings will be used on the field:

GAME RULES
1. On the day of the competition each team will get PREPARATION TIME of 30
minutes, during which all the preparation such as adjusting the sensors,
reprogramming the robot etc. should be done. The robots will participate in the
event one by one and the order of participation will be based on draw.
2. Every team will get maximum 3 chances to complete the race. The fastest time
achieved during the 3 chances will be chosen for the team.
3. No one will be allowed inside the game zone except for the robot handlers and
the judges.
4. One team member will be the robot handler and only that team member will be
permitted to handle the robot during the game. All other team members must
remain outside the game zone.
5. The robot will be placed at the START line and checked by the judges.
6. The robot must be started manually with a start button. The start button should
have the word “START” written near the button. The button will be pressed by
a judge.
7. At any restart, the robot must be positioned back at the start tile and started by
the judge.
8. It is not allowed to reprogram the robot or to add/remove parts on the robot
during the event but it is allowed to adjust the sensors between the chances.
9. A robot must restart if (a) The robot does not start after pressing the Start
Button for 1 minute. (b) The robot is touched by a human (c) The robot moves
off the line (d) The judge orders to restart.
10. A robot must remain on the FINISH line for 5 seconds.
11. RACE TIME is the time considered for tracing the route from START to
FINISH.
12. The robot violating any of the rules described below will be disqualified from the
competition or forced to restart the robot from the START line.
ROBOT CONSTRAINTS
1. The maximum size of the robot should be limited to 25 cm x 25 cm x 50 cm
(lxbxh).
2. The robot must be powered by a power source such as a battery fixed on the
robot.
3. The Robot cannot be powered by a power source connected to the robot by a
cord.
ROBOT MOBILITY & CONTROL
1. Methods of mobility include Rolling wheels, tracks or the whole robot. Jumping,
hopping and Flying is not allowed.
2. The robot must be controlled autonomously without human intervention.
3. The controller unit should be embedded in the robot and cannot be placed
outside the robot.
SAFETY RULES
1. It is responsibility of the teams to ensure the safety of the competitors and
audience during the Line-Follower event.
2. The organizers and the institute will not be responsible for any injury to the
participants during the Tech Fest events and no financial claims will be
entertained in this regard.
3. Any damage to the robot and accessories during the event will be borne by the
teams. The organizers and the institute will not be responsible for the same.
Name of Event: Avishkaar (Technical Idea making and project
competition)- theme is innovation and sustainability

Venue- Room 211 Time: 10:00- 1:00 pm

GENERAL RULES
1. The participant can propose a solution of any environmental or day to
day life problem in the form of project, poster, presentation, document or
model on the theme of innovation, sustainability and recycling.
2. Maximum team size allowed is 6.
3. The model or project must be displayed with an explanatory poster
containing block diagram and utility of the proposed project.
4. The participant must inform the coordinators if they need electric
connection or any other assistance for their project display.
5. One team leader can do the registration on the behalf of whole team.
6. The participants have to present the idea in front of jury for 2 minutes.
They have to explain the idea, working and utility.
7. If the idea is in the form of PPT presentation, then the participant must
inform the faculty coordinator about the requirement of projector.
8. The best three ideas or projects will be awarded with cash prizes and
certificates.

Name of Event: CIVIL TECHNOMANIA

Venue- 105 Time: 10:30 am- 12:00 pm

GENERAL RULES
 The quiz will be held at 2 levels.
 The total duration of the event is 90 minutes. No break is allowed during
the event.
 The entries of quiz open to all B.Tech Civil Engineering Students
 The questions will be asked from General Civil Engineering.
 Each team shall consist of 3 regular students from the same college and
should possess valid student identity cards.
 No communication will be allowed between the teams during the event.
 Questions may be in the form of text, figure, video or audio clips and will
be displayed on the screen.
 Each question will be displayed on the screen for not more than 15
seconds.
 Each team will get not more than 30 seconds to give the final answer.
 A master score sheet will be on public display.
 The participants shall not be allowed to use any type of gadget including
mobile phones, storage devices, laptops etc.
 Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the teams.
 There will be two prizes for first and second positions.
 Any team found using unfair means or not following event rules will be
disqualified.
 The decision of the quiz-master/judges will be final.
RULES FOR QUIZ LEVELS
LEVEL-I
 There will be 5 rounds and each team will be asked 1 question in each round.
 There will be Multiple Objective type questions, each question has 4 options out
of which only 1 option is correct.
 If a team gives correct answer, the team will be awarded 4 points.
 If a team gives incorrect answer, 1 point will be deducted from their obtained
points.
 If the team does not answer or does not give correct answer, the question will
NOT be passed on to the next team.
 At the end of 5th round, the top 5* teams will be shortlisted for level 2 based on
their score.
 In case of a tie, additional questions will be asked to the tied teams to break the
tie so that only 5* teams move to level-II.

LEVEL-II
 There will be 6 rounds and each team will be asked 1 question in each
round.
 There will be direct answer type questions, no option will be given.
 If a team gives correct answer, the team will be awarded 4 points
 If a team gives incorrect answer, 1 point will be deducted from their
obtained points.
 If the team does not answer or does not give correct answer, the question
will be passed on to the next team. If the next team gives correct answer,
the team will be awarded bonus 1 point.
 At the end of 5th round, the top 2 teams will be selected based on their
score.
 In case of a tie, additional questions will be asked to the tied teams to
break the tie so that only 2 teams are selected for first and second
positions.
