Thank you for your support in coming to see Sunny Hill’s production
of The Sound of Music. The only reason this show stands before you
is because of this massive community of people that come together
to put their minds, expertise, and love into this production. It’s quite
an incredible experience to see everyone do their part to make this
story come to the stage, and I am forever grateful. From the actors,
to the stage managers, to the tech crew, to the creative team, to
the SHHS staff, and to my friends, my family, and my wonderful fiancé
Hailey (May 2023!!), thank you; I could not have done this without
you.
It’s been a long time since Sunny Hills has had a musical put on the
stage here (four years). I knew that I had to choose something that
would bring people together, not only for students to be a part of,
but also for the Sunny Hills community to get excited about seeing
live theater again. This show is near and dear to my heart. I was in
this show at La Habra High School back in 2011; I played Franz, the
butler (my first speaking role). For directing my first musical I wanted
to do something that I was not only familiar with and had fond
memories of, but something that I know many of you have a special
connection to, as this show has been loved and cherished by many
for decades.
At its core, The Sound of Music is about family, and I couldn’t think of
a better word to describe this entire cast and crew. We have all
worked so hard together for the past two months to bring this story to
this stage. Like many families, there is love, excitement, growth,
frustration, adversity, support, laughter, and friendship; this process
has been all of these and more. So, thank you for being a part of this
family, and please enjoy The Sound of the Music.
