b) What are the advantages of roof firing and explain function of Down Comers .

3. a) Sketch and describe a low water level alarm system suitable for a water tube boiler

b) Discuss reasons of Boiler Tube failure.

4. a) Explain with suitable diagrams, working principle of a Pressure -Velocity
Compounded Impulse Turbine , showing how Enthalpy , Pressure ,
Sp. Volume & Velocity of steam varies as it passes through the turbine.

b) Discuss advantages and disadvantages of Pressure Compounded Impulse

5. a) Sketch a complete Gashed type Rotor and label all the parts ,explaining reasons
for the central hole.

b) Explain precautions needed for operating a Steam Turbine Plant. Give brief
description of preventive maintenance needed for a Turbine .

6. a) Sketch pressure system of lubrication and explain how bearings and gears
are saved in the event of pump failure.

b) Sketch a De-aerator and explain its working principle
