Definitions of Communication

 Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place, person or
group to another. Every communication involves (at least) one sender, a message and a
receiver.
 Keith Davis: Communication is a process of passing information and understanding from
one person to another.
 2. John Adair: Communication is essentially the ability of one person to make contact
with another and make himself or herself understood.
Forms of Communication

 Intrapersonal communication

Intrapersonal communication which is only done within one's own mind with one's own
thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

 Interpersonal Communication
In interpersonal communication, there's always more than one person.Two
people communicating means interpersonal.

 Group Communication
Group communication is communication among three or more people interacting to achieve a
shared goal. You have likely worked in groups in high school and college, university
 Public Communication
Public communication is a sender-focused form of communication in which one person is
typically responsible for conveying information to an audience.
 Mass Communication
Public communication becomes mass communication when it is transmitted to many people
through print or electronic media.
