2. Bromine -82 has a half life of 36 hours . A sample containing Br-82 was found to have an activity
of 1.2 X 105 disintegrations/min. How many grams of Br-82 were present in the sample? Assume
that there were no other radioactive nuclides in the sample.
3. Neptunium – 237 ( Np-237 ) decays by alpha particle emission. It has a decay constant of
3.15 x 10 -7. How many alpha-particles are emitted in 10.0 minutes from a 2.00-mg sample of
Np-237 ? How many curies does this represent ?
