How did what you learn in the other courses enhance what you learned in nutrition, and vice

versa?

A class I feel I can relate what I’ve learned to is my Lifelong Wellness General Education Course.
The objectives of that course were to build understanding around strength and cardio. I feel like
understanding how nutrition impacts your body and how your body is physically active is
important. For example, then I thought carbs were bad and should be avoided to lose weight,
now I understand that carbs are one of primary sources for energy in the body and could help
me push through my workouts. And that protein is essential for building and repairing muscle.

Reflect on how you thought about nutrition before you took this course and how you think about it
now that the course is over.

I had many assumptions about nutrition before taking this class. Some of them being, avoid
carbs and fat if you want to prevent weight gain. Now I understand that both things give my
body energy, protect my organs, and provide fiber to better my digestive health. I think
approaching nutrition for myself in the future will be to aim for balanced meals with lots of
variety. I will also be more aware of portion size and limit my intake of calorie dense foods.
