Do you think omega got a fair deal as per the case (was the customer behaved ethically in

their approach? Give reasons for your answers.

The photocopier was doing experimental work for the first time, and hence subcontracting of
the memory unit was offered to both Omega and Acme on a prototype basis, where they are
supposed to experiment with the process and come up with the solution in significantly less
time (fast speed) through their final objective is to the reduced cost and zero-defect solution
of the memory unit assembly.
While doing the prototype, Omega did exceptionally well, even improved the wiring process,
and submitted the prototype with zero defects. Still, after that, they could not optimize the
process using collaboration, so their cost was high.
While acme struggled earlier in the prototype due to their rigid hierarchy, they could not
submit the proto in time. Also, their proto had a defect in 10 items, but after this, they
optimized the process and reduced overall cost with zero defects; hence, the customer has
offered the contract.
So since parameters for evaluation were given by the customer and hence the order was given
on the same basis, therefore, customer behaved ethically in this case.
Considering the high cost of proto development of such a system, customers should have kept
a 60:40 or 70:30 order split so that firms developing proto can get some profit, which will
encourage healthy competition. Hence considering the time and energy invested in proto
Omega didn’t get a fair deal.
