SUMMARY PRESENTATION
What is this report all about? What are the purposes, goals, and objectives?

To sum it up, we will review the events in the development of drama during the Elizabethan age
period. So, let’s get into our presentation.

Our first question is where and when did it happen? The Elizabethan era was a literary period that
happened in England that lasted through the years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, which coincided
with the period of renaissance from 1558 to 1603.

Next what happened during this period?

This is the period when it’s considered to be a time of the English Renaissance, when there was
immense progress of national pride and when literary works took important strides. They saw the
flowering of literature, arts, and poetries during the years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. In addition,
they made significant advances in the area of navigation and exploration.

Why did it happen? Queen Elizabeth was a fan of literature so when she saw a rise in the concept
of nationalism which can be seen when writers took interest in literary and dramatic works which
indicated significant growth in cultural developments.

How did it happen? It happened when the printing press was invented in 1476 by Johannes
Gutenberg as it benefits the people because it allowed ideas to spread quickly which helped during
the renaissance. Another factor was that she wanted to gradually increase the improvements of
literature so she constructed universities like Oxford and Cambridge to be recognized as the focal
point of learning and scholarly activities of the nation.

Onto our final question who are involved during this era?

-We got Thomas Kyd who was known for his play The Spanish Tragedy. He contributed to the
development of the middle and final climaxes and revealed his instinctive senses in tragic
situations.

-Christopher Marlowe was known for his contribution to literature which was his blank verses, the
overreaching protagonist, and about his mysterious death.

-John Lyly who was born in Kent and is famous for his Euphuistic style. He is also known for his
prose romance Euphues or The Anatomy of Wit.

-Robert Greene is a dramatist, poet, and pamphleteer who wrote pastoral and romantic comedies.

-William Shakespeare was an important member of Lord Chamberlains Men company of theatrical
play and was considered the greatest dramatist of his time. He specializes in all types of genres like
history, tragedy, and comedy and wrote in so-called ‘problem plays “or bitter comedies.
Ben Jonson was known for his 28 plays and awarded and awarded the title of England’s Poet
Laureate in 1616. Famous for his expounding theory of humor which became synonymous with his
job as well as his name. He personified the four humor or bodily fluids which were believed to
know a person’s demeanor.

Hence, that ends my presentation. Indeed, Queen Elizabeth was an intelligible and colorful
monarch during her time literature flourished that is being used until this day and for the
upcoming generations to come. Without Literature, we wouldn’t be able to know the characters,
the issues, the history of what I presented, and the people who stood and walked the same ground
as us. Indeed, this period is considered the golden age of English Literature.
