The structure of case study for MPF_AFAP Corporate Finance

and Financial Analysis

The case study should consist of financial analysis of company that you can choose from your
own country or from the list below.
Work in group of four or five people. The case study should be at least 15 pages long in total.
You should write a text in word and then prepare the presentation in power point. Insert
Word, Power Point and Excel (3 files) into folder called Case Studies at least 2 days before
your presentation. Whole presentation should take about 15 minutes. You will present during
12th week in the seminar and also during the lecture time.

This structure is only a recommendation.

1. Identification of chosen company

a) name, legal form and any other identifying information
b) the registered office
c) the definition of production program (an alternative could be portfolio of
services)
d) eventually the reasons for your choice (personal ties, etc.)

2. Analysis of the financial position of the analyzed company

Methodology: The method´s description is needed as little as possible, but it is necessary
to cite sources of the given methods.
If you find the methodological differences in available methodologies
it is welcomed and you are expected to comment them appropriately.

3. Forecast
a) a priori
b) a posteriori (preferably using a method of "percentage rate of sales"
c) in the range defined by the balance sheet and P/L statement

4. List of literature
Especially please do not forget to mention the source of data (information about the
company).
List of companies
You may choose one of the companies listed bellow. You are permitted to analyze other
company. You may choose a company from your own country and analyze it. Use data from 5
years in past (e.g. 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 or 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 - if
available). If you want to get 4 results you sometimes need 5 figures because you need to
compare the change that happened between the years. If you want to use data from longer
period, you may ☺

You may choose some other company from your own country – preferably big companies
with past in order to find the annual reports or the financial statements (do not choose
consolidated companies – the statements of consolidated companies do not show proper
results). Do not analyze banks or insurance companies. The financial analysis which you
study in this course is suitable for production or trade companies.
