1.Why does Facebook's data center specialist argue that "The Internet is not a
cloud?"
• They believe it is a genuinely physical thing. The internet is a physical
building connected worldwide by miles of fiber optics ang cables.
Building can talk to each other and share data back and forth, a place that
makes a supercomputer look like a pocket calculkator.

2. What are some of the techniques Facebook uses to cool its data centers?
• They use a state of the art seven rooftop natural air conditional system,
this means that they mix cool air from the outside (high plain of Oregon)
with warmer air, in order to regulate the temperature inside facility. On
the hand , humidity is controlled by a fine automated mist that channels
the breeze to the back of the servers in order to prevent them from
overheating. Finally, any excess warm air is pushed out by gigantic fans,
which finally concludes the ventilation process.

3. Describe the five methods recommended by Google for reducing power

consumption.
• Measuring the PUE is the first step. If you cannot measure efficiency, you
can't manage it. Second, manage airflow by isolating cool aisles from hot
aisles and preventing the premature mixing of hot and cold air. Third,
adjust the thermostat up to operate the IT equipment at a maximum of 80
degrees. Fourth, use free ambient cooling such as more relaxed air or
cooler incoming water as much as possible. Fifth, optimize power
distribution and utilization. In this case, reduce the number of conversions
from AC to DC and back again.
4. Based on the Google video, how much of the world's global greenhouse gases
result from computing?
• The entire ICT infrastructure, including data centers, accounts for about
2% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is about 15% is due to data
centers. The Datacenter power consumption depends mainly on the rate
of economic growth both globally and in the United States.

5. What are some of the benefits of using Dell's Triton water cooling
technology?
• In large data centers, temperatures can reach 120 degrees in just two
minutes if the cooling system became disabled. At this temperature,
processors and hard drives begin to malfunction. The traditional method
of using air cooling has become increasingly expensive as data centers
continue to grow. The server cooling from air to liquid cooling using
water which is a more expensive, but also a far more effective process for
removing heat. The company already boasts some of the best power
usage effectiveness (PUE) ratings in the industry.
