The law that governs the medical technology law profession “RA 8981 The PRC Modernization Act of

2000.

This PRC was first created as a natiional government agency by Presidential Decree No. 223 dated
June 22, 1973. Signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Mandating to enforce the laws regulating the various professions.

It was previously called the “Office of the Board of Examiners” which was created by RA 546 June 17,
1950 under the ages of Civil Service Commission

The PRC became operational on January 4, 1974

December 9, 1974 the implementing rules and regulations of presidential decree No. 223 were
promulgatedpaving the way for standardization of rules and procedures for the 33 professions then
under the Civil Service Commission

December 5, 2000 president Joseph Estrada signed RA No. 8981 known as “The PRC Modernization
Act of 2000”

February 15, 2001 - the implementing rules and regulations were adopted through PRC Resolution
No. 1 series of 2001

Professional Regulations Commission


- government commission that oversees the regulation of professionals in different fields through
enforcing regulatory policies and licensing of professions and occupations under its jurisdiction.
- supervised and coordinated by the Office of the President of the Philippines
- established in 1973 for the purpose of providing the country with reliable and competent
professionals.
