A Safe and Happy Return in the Comedor Guadalupana

“OCA ART” took place August 9 – 15, 2022, as a summer course for the
children of the comedor Guadalupana. Those who attended ranged from 4
to 12 years old, and the objective was to promote the intellectual
development of the children by way of diverse artistic activities.
To develop this course, we had various volunteers, experts in pedagogical
activities, with support from some of the mothers who assisted the
volunteers, and with meals provided by the mothers who are the volunteer
cooks.
One activity was a puppet theater, which provided opportunities for developing creativity,
socialization, communication and mathematical thinking. Another was contemporary
dance, which strengthened bodily, physical and emotional expression, as well as
coordination.
Different crafts also formed part of OCA ART, where the children gave free rein to their
own imagination and creativity, and then games focused on the different groups by age.
The Sisters, Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, also were involved in the program with their
contribution, teaching the children to pass fun moments making use of camaras and
narrating the story of Saint Katharina Kasper, which entertained the children and made
them interested in learning more about her.
To make the last day special, there were children’s games, table games and films to watch.
The day ended with a meal prepared specially for the day, a table decorated with a variety
of fruit, and a rich chocolate cake, all to reward the efforts the children had made to rise
early, assist faithfully and well-behaved in the activities of the course.
Each child is special, different, unique and beautiful, and it is rewarding to know that we
have left a small footprint in their childhood.
