Using a comma is incorrect because commans can’t join two complete thoughts.
That’s the job of other punctuation marks! (?) (!) (:) (;) (.)

A semicolon would also be incorrect because semicolons are used to connect two
complete thoughts when the second thought adds a new or different idea.

Correct semicolon use:

Karina is a great leader; I will vote for her for president.

Other examples of using colons to join two complete thoughts:

Mrs. Kelly’s rule was clear: don’t chew gum in her classroom.
