A Day in The Life

I am going to be looking at the day in the life of an Ancient Greek Spartan Soldier. The

Soldier that I am going to be following throughout the day is named Mark, and he is around 19

years old. Mark had recently completed his training at the Agoge, and had gone off to join the

Spartan military. At the beginning of his day, he wakes up in the community barracks, and is

headed off to complete some harsh training. This is his harsh military training that is all centered

around being very disciplined and obedient. Mark has decided that he doesn't want to marry

anybody right now, and is going to stay in the military until he is about 30, to continue fighting

with the military and serving his city. At the beginning of his day, Mark is going to start his

military training where he will be going through very intense training for battle, all day long.

First, Mark will start off with some intense boxing training, where he can learn hand to hand

combat and be better when fighting in battles. After this training, he will move on to swimming.

This type of training is very important so soldiers do not drown and are able to fight their

opponents in the water. This is all about getting Mark more comfortable in the water and

knowing how to maneuver around in it. The next part of his training will be wrestling. This part

of his training is important in case he comes across something in one of his battles where he

needs to be able to wrestle his way away from someone or know how to take somebody down.

The last part of Mark’s day will involve the techniques that the whole military and squad will use

in battle so they are all coordinated with each other. The crew will go over the phalanx

formation, where they will practice working as a unit, keeping a deep formation and staying

coordinated to make mass maneuvers with each other. At the end of his day, he will head back to

the barracks with his fellow military brothers and get a good night's rest so they can continue

training the next day.
