Summer Employment Opportunity in Emerging Technologies R&D


for High School Freshmen (9th grade) through Seniors (12th grade)
Requirements students should be able to meet:
• Availability: Students who wish to participate in the MITRE Emerging Tech Summer
R&D Program must be available to work in-person at MITRE in McLean 8 hours per day,
5 days per week for at least 8 weeks, from Monday, 19 June, through Friday, 11 August
2023, with only a few days off. Hours of work will be Monday through Friday, 8 hours per
day. No days off will be permitted from Tuesday through Friday during the week of 19
June or on any day during the week of 8 August. Please refer to the Web page at the
URL listed on the bottom of this page for more details.
Resume Requirements:
To apply, you must prepare & submit a resume with at least the following information:

• Work Objective: State your job goal or preference--esp., indicate technical area of interest. You must

available include: A.I.; Robotics; Data Analytics; Health Sciences & Health Info. Tech; Biotechnology;

Cryptocurrency; Microelectronics; Telecommunications; Advanced Manufacturing/3D Printing;

• Dates of availability for work. The minimum required is 19 June through 11 August.
• Present Year in school (e.g., Junior in High School or 11th grade, etc.), plus the name and location
of the school. (NOTE: If this year-in-school and school information is not prominently
displayed near the top of your resume, your application will not be considered further.)
• Your cumulative grade-point average versus the total that represents a perfect grade (e.g., 3.5/4.0)
• SAT Scores (Math, Language, plus total vs. possible total) or PSAT scores, if no SAT scores
available. Other standardized test scores if SAT/PSAT has not yet been taken.
• Your intended major and minor subjects at college, if you know
• Prior educational history (starting with high school, including high school grade-point average)
• Technical skills--e.g., science and math skills, computer skills & lab skills--as well as other skills.
(You may list skills you're acquiring from courses you will complete by the end of the spring semester.)
• Computer languages you know and in which you have experience programming
• Computer operating systems with which you have significant experience
• Specialized software (e.g., Matlab, Mathematica) with which you have experience & expertise
• Previous work experience
• Achievements (e.g., technical research projects completed, publications)
• Honors, awards, scholarships, etc.
• If your home address is outside the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, but you plan to move
within daily commuting distance of MITRE in McLean for the summer, if hired, please indicate this.

- Programming Languages: C, C++, Java, HTML, Python, BASIC, and Visual Basic
- Extensive biotech lab skills, including cell culturing and DNA analysis

- Extensive work with: Internet, Linux, Windows, Mac OS X,
