Flexible Working Arrangements

The issue of balancing paid vacation time and peak season time off is a common

challenge faced by many companies. One potential solution for A&E is to implement a flexible

scheduling policy, which allows employees to adjust their work schedules based on their

vacation plans and the needs of the company during peak season (Wheatley, 2017). This

approach can help to balance employee needs for time off with the company's need to maintain

adequate staffing levels during busy periods.

Flexible scheduling policies can have a positive impact on employee satisfaction and

work-life balance. Employees who are given greater control over their work schedules have

higher levels of job satisfaction and lower levels of stress and burnout (Wheatley, 2017). A

flexible scheduling policy can help to reduce absenteeism and turnover, as employees are more

likely to remain with a company that supports their work-life balance needs.

To implement a flexible scheduling policy at A&E, the company can offer employees the

option to work part-time or to adjust their work schedules during peak season allowing them to

take time off for vacations and other personal needs (Wheatley, 2017). A&E could also consider

implementing a system for employees to trade shifts with one another, which would allow

employees to take time off without affecting staffing levels.
