ABSTRACT
According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, early childhood also includes
infancy, making it age 0-8 instead of age 3-8. At this stage children are learning through observing,
experimenting and communicating with others. Childhood is the age span two years to adolescence. The
term childhood is non-specific in its time span and can imply a varying range of years in human
development. The broad stages of childhood are: Early childhood (two to six years) and Late Childhood (six
to twelve years). The implementation of sex education in schools will provide teenagers with the correct
information to enable them to make the right choices in life. Sex education teaches the young person what
he or she should know for his or her personal conduct and relationship with others. Sex education is an
awareness to understand the sex problems scientifically. It conveys all educational measures, which help
the growing children to understand and face the problems of life. At the time of puberty, physical changes
and emergence of sexual feelings cause a lot of problem among adolescents. It encompasses sexual
development, sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal relationships, affection, intimacy, body image,
and gender roles. Sex education in high schools helps young people to be more prepared for life changes
such as puberty, menopause and aging. Sex education can develop skills and self-esteem to help students
enter adolescence. It helps them in knowing that the sudden few changes are okay and normal. For example,
girls would not get shocked, panic and afraid at their first menstruation once they already had the
knowledge about it.

REFLECTIONS IN THE IMPLICATIONS ON THE FOLLOWING:

AS AN INDIVIDUAL
Based on my reading …
✓ This article is related to our previous topic what constitutes sex which talks about primary
characteristics /intersexes, secondary characteristics, reproductive roles, reproductive
responsibilities, and safe sex practices. That topic that I mentioned as an individual or a teenager at
the time of puberty, I experienced rapid physical and psychological changes. It encompasses sexual
development, sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal relationships, affection, intimacy, body
image, and gender roles. Having this course and reading this study teaches me as a young person
what should I know for my conduct and relationship with others. Providing this kind of knowledge
helps me to be more prepared for life changes such as puberty, menopause, and aging at the same
time can develop skills and self-esteem to enter adolescence. Also, it helps me know that the sudden
few changes are okay and normal. For instance, girls would not get shocked, panicked, and afraid at
their first menstruation once they already knew about it.

✓ Sex education implemented in school can be beneficial to teenagers like me. The implementation of
sex education in schools will provide teenagers with the correct information to enable them to make
the right choices in life. On the other hand, some have claimed that implementing sex education in
schools promotes the risk of sex and is ineffective. However, based on various research findings, is
shown that sex education is effective in reducing the rate of teen pregnancy, providing correct
information, and also decreasing the number of HIV, AIDS, and STD cases among teenagers. Hence,
sex education encourages healthy teen sexuality.

✓ Effective sex education teaches me and other young people who read this article what sexual
violence is, why it is wrong, and how to report an instance of sexual assault or violence to a
responsible adult right away. People find it simpler to cope with their situations as a result. This
journal on prevention teaches minors who engage in sexual activity how to protect themselves from
infections and stay out of situations where they could be exploited. Everyone is made safer by sex
education.

✓ Adolescents do face a hard time when hitting puberty. They often confuse certain things as
abnormal. This research study gives me the knowledge that our body is changing (physical or
biological changes) we need to accept it. Sex education helps and teaches me to take good care of my
body because as we get older, it becomes more important to keep clean. Sex education provides
essential information about how to maintain our hygiene. The findings indicate that not all parents
can instruct their children on these methods. It may be embarrassing to talk about these topics with
children. Some parents, on the other hand, are not aware of any particular precautions to take when
teaching their children about hygiene that’s why teachers with the appropriate abilities can assist

students in learning more and being clear about their bodies.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE SOCIETY

The article / journal helps …
✓ This article helps the nations that have recently seen a sharp increase in the number of adolescent
pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. Reducing the rate of adolescent teen pregnancy is a
key policy goal in many nations. This is because of the negative impact that early pregnancy has on
teenagers and their offspring. Teenagers must take critical decisions regarding sexuality,
relationship, and sexual activity as they mature. The choices they make can have a long-term impact
on their health and well-being. Therefore, society should take the responsibility of preparing
teenagers by providing adequate sexual health education, which gives them the skills necessary to
make the right decisions. By creating awareness of the effects of immoral sexual behavior, there will
be a decrease in teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

✓ Traditionally, adolescents in many cultures were not given any information on sexual matters, with the
discussion of these issues being considered taboo. But we must forget that it’s essential because eventually,
it influences one’s behavior. Parents' behavior and moral conduct have a significant influence on their
children. Schools should encourage the youngster to feel comfortable discussing or inquiring about such
topics. Many issues that teens face today are a consequence of a lack of parental guidance. It should be
seen as no more than an ordinary occurrence. Sex education makes teens realize how their mood swings
and hormones change over time. If further teaches healthy habits to make use of the energy positively. It
also helps kids make better choices by emphasizing the significance of taking things slow and knowing
someone well before making any commitment.

✓ The most effective education in human sexuality begins at home of course the family is the basic unit
of society. Nowadays, with the rapid growth of information, sex information is everywhere. It can be
seen on television, can be read in books, and is even plastered on social media. Teens, even children,
are getting curious about sex. Therefore, parents need to instill correct concepts of sex to their
children as early as possible before they are misled by indecent magazines and irresponsible media.
Parents are the core people who accompany their children as they grow up, so, parents are also the
most appropriate person to give their children sex education. The earlier sex education is given at
home, the earlier the children can establish correct concepts of sex, and the easier the parents can
handle the situation. Sex education is designed to help young people gain the information, skills, and
motivation to make healthy decisions about sex and sexuality throughout their lives. Sex education is
high-quality teaching and learning about a broad variety of topics related to sex and sexuality,
exploring values and beliefs about those topics, and gaining the skills that are needed to navigate
relationships and manage one’s sexual health.
