Introduction (2 mins)
Pharmacists should know the different statutory laws which governed the practice of pharmacy.
Because pharmacists are accountable for every professional activity undertaken. Accountable is an essential
concept of professional pharmacist practice and the law. Knowledge of laws that regulate and affect
pharmacist practice is needed for some reasons: 1. to ensure that the pharmacist’s decisions and actions are
consistent with current legal principles; and 2. to protect the pharmacist from liability.

Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence and Ethics.

Jurisprudence is defined as a system of laws. It is the science of philosophy of laws. Law can be defined as
the total sum of rules and regulations by which a society is governed. Pharmacists Ethics refers to ethical
issues that occur in pharmacy practice.

For this Part Students may refer to Chapter 1 of the reference book
